LakePoint Summer ID- Quick Hits

Aiden Watson, SS, 2028, Harrison
The Harrison SS put together a statement performance in all facets. Tons of athleticism and strength in the 5-foot-11, 188-pound frame with plenty more to project. Led the event by clocking at an eye-opening 6.44 60. Backed by an explosive first step (1.56 10-yd) and ability to reach top end speed quickly ( 21.5 Max Run Speed). One of the loudest rounds of the day as he posted a 103.0 max exit velocity and an average 94.1 exit velocity. Utilizes a slight toe-tap load to stay balanced through the zone in a well-connected RH cut. Compact, tight turns stand out with explosive hand/bat speed and innate barrel feel in a well-leveraged swing. Bouncy in the dirt with fluid footwork and excellent range in all directions. Arm strength in present with accuracy to 1B and chance to be a carrying tool long-term as he finished with an 88 IF velo. It’s an extremely high-floor profile with a chance for a significant ceiling to tap into.

Dillon Thomas, OF/SS, 2028, Paideia
Thomas was a sophomore who showed well in the heart of the order for Paideia when I saw them in the Spring. Fast forward to now where the outfielder put together a strong day as his game continues to make strides. Stands a lean 5-foot-11, 154-pounds with athleticism throughout. Kicked off the day by clocking at a 7.09 60. The RHH lived on the barrel to the pull-side with a max exit velocity of 93.6 and was able to carry one out over the left-field wall. Stays coiled well with good ability to rotate and looseness to the wrists while creating leverage to the pull-side. Quality actions both across the dirt and the infield as he posted an 82 IF velo and an 83 OF velo. Thomas will carry a significant role next spring with plenty more to continue to tap into across the profile.

Luke Hill, 1B/3B, 2028, Ola
The trend of impact sophomore bats I saw in the spring continues as Hill fits that mold to a tee. Present strength throughout the physical 6-foot-2, 228-pound frame with impact in the barrel. Carries multiple balls out to the pull-side in batting practice and finished the round with a max exit velocity of 95.7. Great balance in the stride with tons of strength in the lower half and minimal wasted effort throughout the cut. Shows loose, strong hands with whip in the barrel and ability to create backspin with ease. Will be a significant piece for the Mustangs come next spring as a strong summer campaign appears to be well under way.

Eli Primm, OF, 2027, Jefferson
Uncommitted. Primm, who is 5’9, 177lbs, had a great day at the yard showcasing all of his tools. His speed was on full display as he ran a 6.84 60, a 1.63 10-yard sprint, and a 3.77 30-yard sprint. Primm really impressed at the plate showing a gap to gap approach, with the willingness to go the other way as well as getting the head out with signs of some power. His max EV was 95.He showed excellent barrel control, great flow throughout his swing, and really fast hands producing loud contact in his round. His day concluded in the outfield where he displayed a good arm topping out at 85. Primm is an impact player who can affect the game in all three aspects.

Brock Johnson, SS/OF, 2027, Westfield
Uncommitted. It was a well-rounded showing of a nice skillset Wednesday by Johnson as his name showed up often and impressed the staff on a handful of occasions. He started his day with a quick 60 at 6.74, with 1.67 10-yard split, showing athleticism and explosiveness from the bottom half. His round of BP was one of the more impressive of the day as he holds the second highest max EV at 101.1 and an average EV just under 90 (89.3). Johnson teed off on a few, hitting one 404 feet which was, by far, the furthest hit ball of the day. He consistently lived on the barrel as he sported a very explosive, ground up cut with a slight upward attack angle. OF throws were all on target, and across the IF he got up to 92 on the gun. Johnson is primed to make a big impact this summer for his travel team and to develop/grow his personal game.

Bode Malcom, OF, 2028, Hillgrove
It was a solid all-around showing for Malcom. He showcased a well-rounded skillset, highlighted by the bat. He ran a 7.02 60-yard dash, with a quick 1.67 10-yard split, showing acceleration out the box. The most impressive part of the day for Malcom was his BP. Malcom showcased a smooth left-handed swing that consistently produced hard flyballs to the pull side, shown by an average launch angle of 24 degrees. Those flyballs were hit with authority, with a max EV of 92 MPH and max bat speed of 79.9 MPH, hinting at more future power. He finished the day in the outfield, with a smooth arm action producing on-line throws at 80 MPH. It was a good showcasing of an all-around profile for Malcom that can impact the game in all phases.

Ricky Frazier III, 1B/RHP, 2029, TNXL Baseball Academy
Frazier III stands out upon entering the ballpark. Standing at 6-foot-7, 195-pounds, it’s an incredibly projectable frame to start. Even with that big frame, he ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Frazier III then put on a display during his BP round with incredible hand and bat speed, maxes of 23.4 MPH and 88.4 MPH respectively. He consistently hit balls on a line or in the air, with an average EV of 88.8 MPH and max of 95.8 MPH, also hitting a homer during his round. He uses his long levers to his advantage to create bat speed that makes up plenty for a longer swing. He utilizes a quick toe tap to simplify the swing and allow for more barrel control, allowing him to stay in the center of the field. He made throws from 1B as well as from the OF, showing a clean action throwing 80 MPH across the infield and 82 from the outfield with on-line throws. Frazier III is a name to watch this summer with good athleticism and an ability to produce big time swings.

Jayzen Johnson, 3B/RHP, 2027, North Hall
Uncommitted. Johnson put together a standout performance, living at the top of the leaderboards. He started off the day running a 6.65 60-yard dash, showing athleticism and raw speed. He then moved onto BP, where he showed quick bat speed, with an average of 71.2 MPH, and max of 77.2 MPH. This led to a max EV of 97.1 MPH and consistent hard-hit balls. The tools kept showing as he put on a display during the defensive portion of the showcase, throwing 89 MPH across the diamond, and 93 MPH from the outfield. Johnson then hopped on the mound, showcasing the loudest fastball of the event, topping at 89.2 MPH. He paired this with a curveball in the low-70s with a spin rate of 2500+ RPM. He added to the mix with a changeup in the high-70s to round out his arsenal. Johnson is an intriguing prospect with loud tools and two-way potential that will be important to follow this summer.

Asher Evans, SS/RHP, 2028, Trinity Christian
It was an impressive all-around day for Evans. Standing at 6-foot-2, 179 pounds, he shows a physical frame with athleticism and projection remaining. Moves well in the dirt with good actions and showed a solid arm across the infield. At the plate, Evans posted a max EV of 97.3 while showing the ability to use the whole field and stay within himself. Simple approach with some present juice to the pull side and feel for the barrel. Posted a 6.8 in the 60 with a top speed of 19.9 MPH, continuing to show his athleticism on both sides of the ball. Overall, Evans is a well-rounded prospect who should continue trending upward as he gains more experience against quality competition this summer.

Christian Schatz, MIF/3B, 2028, South Forsyth
Schatz had an impressive all-around day both in the field and at the plate. Defensively, he showed good actions in the dirt with the ability to get the ball out quickly and on target. Moves well laterally and did a good job showing off his range throughout the workout. Posted an infield velocity of 83 MPH while consistently making the routine play look easy. At the plate, Schatz put together a solid round of BP using the whole field and staying within himself throughout. Showed a simple approach with the ability to find the barrel and produce hard line-drive contact. Posted a max EV of 92.5 with a max distance of 341 feet, showing some sneaky juice to the PS. Schatz is a fundamentally sound player who should continue to get better with experience.

Hayden Lewis, LHP/OF, 2027, River Ridge
Uncommitted. Lewis had a good all-around showing yesterday. On the mound, he attacked the zone with a three-pitch mix and showed good feel for sequencing. The fastball sat 80-82 with good life through the zone and the ability to command it for strikes. He flashed a curveball with solid depth and mixed in a fading changeup that played well off the fastball. At the plate, Lewis gets into his lower half well and shows present power to the pull side. Posted a max EV of 96.5 MPH and lived on the barrel throughout his BP round with noticeable bat speed through the zone. Also posted a 6.84 in the 60 while showing athleticism in the outfield, where he recorded an 85 MPH max velo from the OF. Looked comfortable defensively and showed good accuracy on his throws. Expect Lewis to continue to get better on both sides of the diamond with more experience.

Lance Rosser, OF, 2027, Etowah
Uncommitted. Rosser had a good day at the showcase yesterday headlined by a good round of BP which was mostly line drive based, he worked the whole field well going backside on a few while mostly being pullside/up the middle. His round was headlined by a max exit velo of 95.6 MPH with a 56% hard hit rate and very quick hands posting an average of 21.9 landing him near the top percentile for average hand speed. Rosser then ran a 7.11 60 yd dash (1.70 10yd split) showing his speed combined with his explosiveness posting a 25.9 vertical jump being in the higher percentile of vertical jump. The OF also posted a 78 MPH outfield velocity putting a good round of defense together. Rosser is primed to help Etowah next year as they will be losing very valuable pieces as the seniors graduate.

Knox Hammond, 1B/OF, 2030, Westminster
Hammond kicked off the day for the Rising Stars group and looked the part in the box. The LHH stays coiled and gets into his back hip as he transfers weight well through the zone. Balanced through impact with controlled hands and budding feel for the barrel in a linear path while creating some leverage. Sprayed the ball to the pull-side throughout the round in a consistent line-drive oriented approach.

Andrew Britton, 1B/RHP, 2028, Lambert
Britton put together a very good day at the plate hitting the ball hard to the pull side, has a very fast and powerful swing where he posted an average exit velocity of 88.1 MPH and a max exit velocity of 99 MPH while posting a Max distance of 366 Feet showing his power from his aggressive swing. Britton also had a solid outing on the mound as he posted a fastball that sits anywhere from 80-83 MPH, his curveball had an aggressive break sitting between 68-70 MPH, the changeups dropped heavily as he was sitting around 76-78. Britton is a talented player who looks to be getting better year in and year out.
