2026 East Coast Super Sophomore Games Set to Return to North Carolina's Triad
Prep Baseball is excited to announce the return of the East Coast Super Sophomore Games, scheduled for July 31-August 2, 2026, as the premier event for the top players in the Class of 2029 across the East Coast.
Now entering its third year, the East Coast Super Sophomore Games have quickly established themselves as one of the most prestigious underclass events in the country. The inaugural event in 2024 was hosted at Wake Forest University and High Point University, while the 2025 edition moved to the University of North Carolina and Burlington Athletic Stadium. In 2026, the event returns to the Triad of North Carolina with Wake Forest University and High Point University once again serving as host sites.
The East Coast Super Sophomore Games will bring together 10 teams representing nine Prep Baseball territories along the East Coast. Teams scheduled to compete include Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and Team Select.
Team Select will feature standout prospects from multiple Prep Baseball territories, including players from West Virginia and other East Coast regions.
Designed specifically for high-caliber members of the Class of 2029, the event provides players with an opportunity to compete alongside and against many of the top rising sophomores in the nation while receiving a professional-level evaluation from Prep Baseball's scouting staff.
The impact of the event has already been felt throughout the recruiting landscape. From the inaugural 2024 East Coast Super Sophomore Games, 82 players have already announced college commitments, including 46 commitments to Power 5 programs. As the event enters its third year, it continues to establish itself as one of the premier identification and recruiting events for underclass talent on the East Coast.
Event Format
The East Coast Super Sophomore Games begin on Friday with a comprehensive workout day designed to collect measurable data and allow players to showcase their athleticism and skill set.
Players will participate in:
- Offensive evaluations and batting practice
- Defensive workouts
- Running and athletic sessions
- Agility and movement sessions
- Advanced vision testing
TrackMan and BLAST Motion technology will be utilized throughout batting practice to capture ball-flight data and swing metrics. VALD Athletics testing will provide feedback on athletic performance, movement efficiency, and agility, while Vizual Edge testing will challenge players through advanced vision and reaction assessments similar to those used throughout professional baseball scouting and player development.
Competition shifts to game play on Saturday and Sunday, with each team scheduled to play three games during the weekend. During competition, TrackMan technology will be used to collect pitching metrics and game performance data, allowing scouts to evaluate players in a highly competitive environment against some of the best talent from across the East Coast.
Player Evaluation and Exposure
Every player participating in the event will receive extensive data collection and video coverage. Metrics gathered throughout the event will be integrated directly into Prep Baseball player profiles, creating a lasting evaluation resource for players, families, college coaches, and professional scouts. Additionally, each participant will receive video from either their workout session or mound appearance.
The recruiting significance of the event continues to grow each year. Members of the Class of 2028 who participated in the 2025 East Coast Super Sophomore Games will officially be able to begin direct communication with college programs on August 1, 2026. Based on the early feedback received from college recruiters and the success of the inaugural event, Prep Baseball expects the 2025 roster to experience a similar level of early commitments and strong interest from many of the top programs throughout the East Coast and across the country.
One trend has been very apparent. The East Coast Super Sophomore Games is a catalyst for the Future Games. Used as a primer for the rising Sophomore Class, Prep Baseball Scouts have been able to use the Super Sophomore Games to better execute the Future Games rosters the following year, putting the rising Junior Class in front of over 450 college coaches at the premier underclass scouting event in the country.
Team Selection Process
Each participating roster will be assembled by Prep Baseball's Scouting Director within their respective state, with input from the region's scouting staff.
Selection criteria may vary slightly from state to state, but all teams will be built around identifying the top performers and highest-ceiling prospects within the Class of 2029. Throughout the spring and summer, Prep Baseball events—including Summer ID showcases, Scout Days, and tournament coverage—provide scouting staffs with opportunities to evaluate the region's most talented athletes and determine roster invitations.
While each state may utilize slightly different criteria in building its roster, the common goal remains the same: assembling a team capable of representing its state while showcasing the depth and talent of the 2029 class.
