Minot, North Dakota - The 2026 North Dakota State Tournament delivered. The state's top talent showed up and competed hard for a championship, joined by several new faces who made their presence felt along the way. Below, you'll find our scouting notes on the names that caught our eye up in the Magic City.

We want to thank everyone for supporting Prep Baseball Dakotas and helping promote high school baseball this spring. None of it would have been what it was without you.

With the high school season now in the rearview, our focus shifts to the summer circuit. On June 2nd, we host our Top Prospect Games, featuring over 70 of the top high school prospects from the classes of 2027 to 2029. Grayden Peterson INF / West Fargo, ND / 2028

From what we know, Peterson is a hell of an athlete on the Ice, and he brought that same athleticism to the state tournament this year. Peterson blasted two homers in the quarterfinal matchup with Bismarck High, driving in 5 runs. Displayed hit-tool and pop advanced for the 2028 class.

Sith Egan OF / 1B / Fargo South, ND / 2026

Fargo South's uncommitted senior showed out in the Quarterfinals vs, Mandan. Egan was a homer short of the cycle, and drove in 5 runs. Raw power, with a 105 max showcase exit velo, and a bat that could be on a college roster this fall.

Jack Tooke RHP / SS / Mandan, ND / 2027

The Illinois-Chicago commit collected two hits in the quarterfinals. Present physicality, gets the barrel to baseballs. Has had multiple positive showings this spring.

Evan Felber OF / RHP / South High School, ND / 2027

Felber was a gamer this weekend for the now State Champion Bruins. Felber chucked a complete game in the quarterfinals, showcasing a low 80s heater and mid-70s changeup. Felber would also collect 2 big time hits to add insurance for his squad. A name to watch this summer, lots to like with more physical development.

Cason Borchardt OF / LHP / Horace, ND / 2027

The 105 nationally ranked Junior did not disappoint this weekend. Borchardt was a threat out of the leadoff spot and hit everything hard. Borchardt impressed on the mound as well, pounding the zone with a 3 pitch mix and running his heater up to 90.

Jordan Clemenson SS / RHP / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2026

The Concordia-Moorhead commit showed a polished 3 pitch mix as the Mustangs thursday night starter. Clemenson was consistently 84-86 with his fastball, grabbing an 88 in the 3rd inning. Mixing with a 77-78 mph cutter and big curveball to flip in for strikes. Clemenson shut down the Minot offense and is in a great spot to contribute next spring for the Cobbers.

Landon Zink OF / LHP / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2027

Zink was solid out of the leadoff spot. The 8th ranked '27 in the Dakotas grinded out at bats all weekend long, and did damage at times. An athlete to keep an eye on this summer.

Henry Schrum C / 3B / South High School, ND / 2028

One of the more impressive showings came from a young catcher from Fargo. Schrum was mature behind the plate, handling an upper-80 and mid 90s arm with ease. At the plate Schrum had advanced pop and bat to ball skills. All around gamer.

Parker Hoff RHP / West Fargo, ND / 2026

In long relief, Hoff gave the Packers a chance to win in the semifinal matchup with South. Hoff showcased a 85-87 T88 MPH fastball early, and a snappy curveball at 72-75. An uncommitted mid 80s arm that has popped with his development in the last year.

Carson Shiek RHP / 3B / Fargo South, ND / 2026

Another uncommitted senior did his thing for the Fargo South Bruins. Shiek was mid 80s on the mound, grabbing one 88 early, with a tight slider and big slow breaker to flip in. Shiek shoved, sending the Bruins to the chip.

Hudson Dinger RHP / 1B / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2026

Dinger was put on the shelf this spring with an arm injury, preventing him from pitching for Sheyenne. Despite that, Dinger blasted a homer on an 87 MPH fastball to give the Mustangs all they needed to get back to the State Championship. Dinger will be a freshman at North Dakota State this fall.

JJ McMenamy SS / 2B / West Fargo Sheyenne High School, ND / 2029

One of the most impressive performances came from Sheyennes freshman second baseman. McMenamy displayed some of the smoothest hands from a young Upper Midwest second basemen we've seen in a while. McMenamy also collected 2 hits off a future SEC and mid-90s arm in the championship.

Caden Nelson RHP / 3B / Fargo South, ND / 2027

Nelson brought in for the championship game. Sitting 94-95 T96 with his bowling ball fastball, and firing a biting slider in the low-mid 80s. Nelson has gained national attention in the past year and has no sign of slowing down. Nelson worked his way through a strong Sheyenne lineup en route to becoming a state champion.
