Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. The Vikings offense was led by both Cory Les (2026; Louisville Commit) and Sean Popp (2026; Oakton CC Commit), who each knocked in three RBIs. Les went 2-for-2 with a single, triple, hit by pitch, walk, stolen base, and a run scored. Popp went 2-for-4 with two singles. Daniel Coyle (2026; Lewis Commit) knocked in two RBIs on his bases-loaded walk and RBI single. Tristan Steger (2027; Kentucky Commit) hit a solo homer to get the scoring started. Jimmy Benson (2027; TCU Commit) dealt 4.1 innings and struck out five to earn the win. Cory Les followed up with 2.2 scoreless innings and struck out five batters. For Brother Rice, their offense came in the fourth inning when they put up a four-spot. This includes RBI hits from Brady Cunningham (2027; Texas A&M Commit) and Nolan Ramoley (2026; Northwestern Commit); Cunningham with the RBI triple, Ramoley with the RBI double.

Sal Gura (2027) went 3-for-3 with three singles, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Chase Hendren (2026) went 2-for-3 with two singles, a walk, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Nico Salvati (2027) went 1-for-2 with a walk, hit by pitch, triple, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Owen Knox (2027) walked four times and drove in two RBIs and scored three runs. Collin Kearfott (2027) walked three times and drove in two RBIs and scored three runs. These were the main contibutors on offense. Everybody in the lineup 1-9 scored either two or three runs. For pitching, Chase Hendren did it all by completing a three-inning perfect game and striking out all nine batters he faced. No.2 Normal Community routed Peoria in game 2 of the doubleheader by the score of 17-0. Carter Reiners (2027) led the Ironmen offense in this contest with four RBIs. He went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. Kyle Glass (2027) went 2-for-2 with two singles, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Nico Salvati (2027) went 1-for-2 with a run scored and a two-RBI double. All 17 runs were scored in the bottom of the first inning. Owen Weaver got it done on the mound by pitching a two-inning perfect game and striking out all six batters he faced. The Ironmen did not give up a baserunner in the doubleheader.

Ian Tossi (2026; Miami commit) got the start and the win on the mound going three innings allowing an unearned run, while striking out five. Ian McGrath (2027) was sharp out of the pen for the Mustangs going 3.2 innings, allowing one run on four hits.

On offense, he went 1-for-2 with a single, two sacrifice flies, and a stolen base. Grant Dose (2026; Morton JC Commit) went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and an RBI double. Braxton Nelle (2027) got the scoring started with his RBI double in the first inning. But Beau Thompson, who batted in the nine-hole for the Crusaders, was the most important player as he hit three RBI singles, including one as a walk-off winner.

Aaron Katz (2026, Highland) allowed only one run in his four innings of work, striking out three throughout his start. Max Judge (2027) was perfect in over an inning of relief, striking out two of his four batters faced to secure the win for Hinsdale.

As a team, Tremont had fourteen hits in the game, with Griffin Meeker (2026; Heartland) and Justin Muselman (2026) leading the charge out of the top of the lineup. Meeker finished the day 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, driving in two and scoring twice. Muselman finished the day perfect at the plate, ending his day 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, and coming across to score four times. Jake Williams (2028) drove in the most runs of any Tremont hitter, finishing the day 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Andrew Dawson (2026, Valparaiso) and Josh Papenhause (2026) each finished 2-for-3 with a walk on the day, with Papenhause driving in a pair as well. Pierce Patterson (2027) was strong in his five innings of work, allowing five hits, a walk, two runs (one earned) and striking out three to secure the win.
