Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. Marist defeated Stagg by the score of 2-1. The RedHawks offense got the job done in the first inning when they put up two runs. The RBI single came from Ryan Lawlor (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit) to get the scoring started while Ryan Hinde (2026) knocked in the RBI double. Mark Coffey (2026) took the mound and threw six strong innings and recorded five strikeouts while giving up three hits, two walks, and an earn run.

Barrington defeated St. Charles East by the score of 4-2. Zack Ostergaard (2026) had a three-hit day with two doubles and an RBI single. He also stole two bases on the basepaths. The other two RBI singles in the fourth inning came from Bowie Heintz (2027) and Ryan Costello (2026). Will Renshaw (2026; Southeastern CC (IA) Commit) took the down and tossed a complete game with seven punchouts.

Bishop McNamara defeated Herscher by the score of 7-5. All four RBIs of the game were knocked in my Nick Pignatiello (2027) for the Fighin' Irish. He hit a pair of two-RBI singles, which gave the Fightin' Irish the lead both times. This included the one that proved to be the game winner in the sixth inning.

Breese Central defeated Greenville by the score of 2-1. Two RBI knocks came in the fourth inning that gave the Cougars the lead. Bryce Wieter (2026) hit the game-tying RBI double while Craig Schroeder hit the go-ahead RBI single. Alex Athmer (2027) took the mound and pitched a 112-pitch complete game with 11 punchouts while giving up two hits, three walks, and an earned run.

Coal City defeated Reed-Custer by the score of 8-1 to improve to 27-7 of the season. Lance Cuddy (2026; Lewis Commit) led the Comets in RBIs on his bases-clearing double. Donnie Ladas had a three-hit game, including an RBI single that got the scoring started. Tyce Farrell (2028) had an RBI single as well to cap off a two-hit game. Kellen Forsythe (2027) took the mound and tossed a complete game and punched out seven hitters while giving up four hits, a walk, and an earned run.

Columbia defeated Nashville by the score of 4-3. The Eagles offense got the job done within the first two frames of the game. Connor Basinski (2028) hit an RBI double while Cooper Reuss (2027) hit a three-run homer to push the deficit to four. Ayden Sepich (2028) threw five innings and struck out seven to earn the win.

Crystal Lake Central defeated Wauconda by the score of 6-3. Bud Shannahan led the Tigers offense with three RBIs and a three-hit day. This includes an RBI double and a two-run single and a stolen base. Wade Ozment (2027; Illinois Commit) pitched a quality start of 5.1 innings and 100 pitches thrown. He got the win with three punchouts.

After the Pirates offense was shutdown for the first five innings, Grady Jones (2026) broke through with an RBI single, which helped with his own cause while dealing on the mound. He threw a complete game two-hit shutout and struck out six hitters to wrap up a successful contest.

DeKalb shutout Harlem by the score of 7-0. Graham Olson got the scoring started by hitting a two-RBI double. He also drew three walks in this contest. Later on, Gavin Cheney (2027) knocked in two RBIs of his own on his bases-loaded walk and RBI double to push the deficit to seven. On the mound, Hunter Kriese (2026; Elgin CC Commit) tossed a complete game one-hit shutout and struck out seven while allowing only one walk.

Frankfort came from behind to defeat Johnston City by the score of 3-2. Chris Samples got the scoring started for the Redbirds on his RBI single. In the seventh inning, the Redbirds entered trailing 2-1. Jase Bennett knocked in the game-tying RBI single while Canaan Shupe scored the game-winning run on an error. Bennett racked up a three-hit game with that RBI knock along with a double and another single as well as a stolen base.

Wilmington took down Prairie Central 11-1. Dierks Geiss fired three strong innings with three hits, no runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Colin Van Duyne added three innings of his own with just one hit, one run, two walks and four strikeouts. Brysen Meents was 1-for-3 with an inside-the-park homer and four RBIs. Ryan Kettman, Lucas Rink and Colin Strong all recorded two hits.

Deerfield took down Lakes 11-3. Will Swender earned the win with 4.1 innings, three hits and three strikeouts - also going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jesse Feldman added 1.2 innings with no hits, no runs and three strikeouts. Johnny Geren added a hitless and scoreless inning. Easton Newman paced the offense going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Chase Golding went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored. Matthew Willner was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
