2026 MSHSAA Team Rankings: Week 8

Kevin Moulder & Eliott Wilk
Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

The Missouri high school baseball kicks off on March 19th, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Team Rankings.

Our rankings are broken up into two divisions: large school and small schools. We classify the 'large' schools as those residing in Class 5 & 6, while the small schools make up the remaining MSHSAA classifications. We rank what we believe to be the top teams in the state at that level, as well as highlighting several 'On Deck' teams.

Below you will find our week eight team rankings for the 2026 season for Large Schools and Small Schools.

2026 Prep Baseball Missouri Large School Rankings - Week 8

It was another turbulent week as nearly every team across the state suffered at least one setback. This update features significant shuffling as the postseason picture comes into clearer focus and several familiar programs make their return to the rankings.

The same five teams remain at the top of the board, holding mostly steady with the exception of Willard, which jumped Blue Springs South to claim the No. 4 spot. All eyes will be on the Kansas City area this week as No. 1 Liberty North travels to No. 2 Liberty for a high-stakes rivalry matchup with the state's top ranking on the line.

Staley continues its meteoric rise, landing at No. 6 in this update. After a mid-week victory over No. 5 Blue Springs South, the Falcons remain one of the hottest teams in the state, having won 15 of their last 16 games. Webb City also jumps to No. 7, entering the final week of the season on a dominant 11-game winning streak. Much like Staley, the Cardinals have been nearly untouchable of late, securing victories in 15 of their last 16 contests.

The bottom of the rankings features a notable reshuffling and the return of two previous mainstays as Francis Howell and Marquette drop out of the top 15. Lafayette returns at No. 13 after successfully navigating a mid-season rough patch to rattle off seven consecutive wins. Summit Christian rounds out the Large School rankings, re-entering at No. 15; the Eagles are currently riding a 16-game winning streak and haven't lost a contest since April 2nd.

2026 Prep Baseball Missouri Small School Rankings - Week 8

Even the Small School rankings were not immune to the unpredictability of the season as teams head into district play beginning this Wednesday, May 13.

Centralia has moved into the top five, entering the postseason as one of the most consistent teams in the state with a 23-1 record. Ahead of them, Fair Grove, Excelsior Springs, and Duchesne each slide up one spot, while Harrisonville falls to No. 7 following a difficult 1-2 week that included losses to Warrensburg and Kansas-side Louisburg.

Scott City earned a bump to No. 6 after ending Chaffee’s undefeated season in dominant fashion with a 12-0 shutout. The Rams have now rattled off 23 consecutive victories and haven't seen a mark in the loss column since March.

Meanwhile, Southern Boone makes a timely re-emergence in the rankings, playing their best baseball of the year at the perfect moment. The Eagles have put their early-season struggles behind them, winning seven in a row and sweeping the Southern Boone Classic last weekend.
