CHARLESTON, SC – Prep Baseball returned to the Lowcountry for a highly competitive 60-team tournament featuring 14U-17U programs from across the East Coast. Over the course of the weekend, teams competed at premier venues including Shipyard Park, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, and surrounding high school fields throughout the Charleston area. As is customary at Prep Baseball events, the tournament drew significant attention from college recruiters and professional scouts evaluating some of the region's top talent. The event provided athletes with a premier platform to showcase their abilities while competing against high-level opposition. Throughout the week, Prep Baseball's staff covered the action extensively, highlighting standout performers and emerging prospects across all age divisions.

Gavin Henderson, 2027, RHP, Boiling Springs
South Carolina recruit. Long and lanky 6-7, 175-pound frame with plenty of room to add strength. Big time talent showcasing premium stuff and athleticism. Long arm action works clean from the right side from a L3Q slot with electric arm speed. Repeated delivery with consistency. FB blows by hitters sitting mostly 91-93 early and settling 88-90 with ride & run. SL at 79-80 can be a real weapon if he can command it down in the zone showing some depth from the same slot as FB. Comfortable using CH at 85-87 as well as a third offering. Got into a little trouble a few times but battled his way right out of it. Slow heartbeat. Legit arm talent that will be watched closely over the next 12 months by pro scouts.

Brady Rikala, 2030, RHP/OF, Southside Christian
The young righty brought some fire to the mound this weekend. His quick motion down the mound fueled a strong 11 innings, powering his team to 2 wins on their 5 win weekend. His FB sat in the upper 70s from a ¾ arm slot but the command was what impressed. A lot of swing and miss up in the zone early in counts and ended many at bats on the corners. Rikala also features a big CB that sits in the upper 60s and generates a lot of swing and miss. The true CB shape is a very strong complement to his effective FB. As the young arm develops with added strength, Rikala will be an arm to look out for in the future.

Greyson Manos, 2030, RHP/SS, Christ Church
A young righty that impressed early in the weekend. A very quick motion from a low ¾ slot proved tough for opposing hitters. Manos struggled early but settled in to go 5 innings of 1 run baseball in his outing against the 2030 Canes. The FB proved to be his primary pitch, sitting from 79-82 with plenty of ride and a lot of swing and miss when elevated. Manos was also able to work the outer half of the plate really well with that FB. He also showed off two strong secondaries of a sweepy SL in the upper 60s and a CH in the low 70s with a lot of strong fade. When thrown effectively off of a FB, both can prove to be weapons in his bright future.

Joseph Lyons, 2028, RHP/MIF, Calhoun Academy
Lyons impressed this weekend with power at both the plate and on the mound. The young arm features a near 6 foot extension with very fluid movement on the mound from a ¾ arm slot that seemed troublesome for hitters for 4 innings in his outing against Carolina Prospects 16U. Lyons FB sat in the low 80s, running it up to 84 with plenty of arm side run and whiff. When elevating that FB, Lyons is also able to come back with a big 11/5 CB in the upper 60s that generates just as much swing and miss. Along with those two, Lyons also brings a fadey CH to the table in the low to mid 70s. With his skills on the mound and at the plate, Joseph will be a name to look out for.

Cam Smith, 2029, RHP/OF, Eastside
The young two-way flashed a lot of potential this weekend. While portraying a very powerful swing at the plate, Smith also showed out on the mound. In his outing against RH Select, Smith went a very efficient 4 innings, highlighted by his 5 pitch mix. He utilized 2 FBs with a ride 4S at 82-85, topping out at 86, while also having a runny 2S at 80-83, that he used mainly in 2 strike counts. On top of his special fastballs, Smith also portrays a power SL in the mid 70s, a hammer CB in the low 70s, and a CH in the upper 70s with plenty of depth. The 5 pitch mix at a young age threw hitters off all weekend, especially being able to control every single pitch. Smith is one of many notable names to look out for in a very special ‘29 class at Eastside.

Cooper Derrick, 2027, RHP, Chapin
The uncommitted right handed pitcher out of Chapin HS (SC), showed flashes at the Carolina Summer Championship in Charleston for the Diamond Devils 17u Black. He ran the FB up to 89, consistently staying in the 86-88 range pairing it up with a breaking ball mixing it in well, keeping hitters off-balanced. The breaking ball complimented the run ride fastball with a tight spin and very hard bite dropping off the table just about every time. Not to mention he is a two sport athlete standing at an athletic 6’2 180lbs. Displayed a smooth lower half working down hill getting good extension with a smooth steady delivery. Overall, Cooper Derrick has made steady jumps over the past few years and is a must watch this summer!

Devon Pacarella, 2027, RHP/SS, Fort Mill
Uncommitted two-way Pascarella out of Fort Mill HS (SC) came in relief in and dominated from the start, striking out the first batter he faced. He was able to work ahead in counts, pairing his fastball and breaking ball together, tunneling the breaking ball with a high heater up inside the zone. He ran the fastball up to 90 staying in the 86-88 range filling up the zone. With him in relief he was able to keep his team (Legacy Baseball Stingers) in the game. Slightly closed delivery adding life to the FB gathering plent of swing and misses. Interested to see what jumps who makes on his FB this summer!
