Over 60 teams made the trip down to Salisbury for the annual PBT Eastern Shore Open tournament to kick off the summer. Over a three-day period, we had the opportunity to get eyes on nearly 1,000 total players, and with that comes a list of standouts based solely on their play from the weekend. In the end, four different organizations took home their respective hardware in each age division (14/15/16/17). In Part I of my tournament standouts, we start with our rising upperclassmen, which includes 2027s and 2028s.

Class of 2027 Standouts

Ethan Noyes RHP / Calvert Hall College, MD / 2027Our hardest arm of the weekend brings us to uncommitted junior Ethan Noyes, one of Calvert Hall's biggest bullpen arms, who starts off his summer with an absolute bang. The velo uptick is certainly something to monitor, as the fastball sat 85-89 in the first inning, grabbing a 91 in the second inning while sitting primarily in the upper-80s. Noyes was dominant early, working all fastballs in the first three innings before implementing a low-70s curveball in the fourth, pounding the zone in any count. At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, the durable right-hander finds himself in line for a breakout summer if the velo uptick stays consistent. |

Dalton DePriest SS / Calvert Hall College, MD / 2027It feels like Dalton DePriest, with each and every look, finds a way to impress our staff on at least one side of the ball, and this weekend he flashed the arm talent with a dominant outing in relief. The uncommitted right-hander worked three shutout innings out of the bullpen, striking out eight hitters while only surrendering one hit. The fastball consistently sat in the mid-80s, getting up to 87 with feel for a competitive slider that lived in the zone. This is a highly intriguing two-way player who has shown the ability to compete at the next level on both sides of the ball. Now, we just wait to see which side takes off this summer. |

Jeremy McConnaughey OF / Clear Spring, MD / 2027Jay McConnaughey may have swung the hottest and most explosive bat of any uncommitted player this weekend, notching seven hits over four games for an average of over .600, adding in five extra-base hits, including a pair of homers during pool play on Saturday. The junior outfielder was one of the best hitters across the CMC this season, and the first weekend of the summer emphasized this statement. It's a loud hit tool that shows barrel feel through the zone, showcasing advanced strength gap-to-gap. The above-average run tool makes him a hot commodity in a time when athletic, strong outfielders are of high value. |
|
Bradyn Sober OF / Carlisle Area, PA / 2027Bradyn Sober takes the award for the loudest swings of the weekend, as the 2025 Future Games alum launched a pair of homers in bracket play, securing the 17U division title. The ninth-ranked outfielder in Pennsylvania utilizes evident bat speed to translate extreme power gap-to-gap, homering to both left and right field in their championship run. One of the more advanced hitters in the area, the tendencies and mature actions explain the ACC commitment. |
| |
Brayden Reiner C / Winston Churchill, MD / 2027In MoCo, there always seems to be a darkhorse contender when it comes to showcasing the most underrated strength in the county, and Brayden Reiner embodied that this spring. Fast forwarding to the tournament, Reiner showed off the pull side juice with an absolute bomb down the left field line for a walk-off homer. At a lean 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, there's even more room to add strength, giving the uncommitted junior a high power ceiling, especially to the pull side. If the hit tool continues to show consistency, I would expect Reiner to catch some traction towards the back half of the summer or early fall. |

Jake Lindsey 3B / Calvert Hall, MD / 2027One of my breakout contenders for this summer, Jake Lindsey, started off his campaign with a loud performance in the Eastern Shore Open, notching four extra-base hits, including a three-hit performance in pool play (HR, 2B, 1B) and a pair of doubles on championship day. It's a violent swing that generates a ton of bat speed, allowing the strength to take the forefront. It's consistently one of the loudest and most powerful offensive makeups with the ability to eat innings on the bump as well, making two appearances over the course of the weekend while working the fastball up to 84. And with a grand slam on Day 1 of the Carolina Summer Championships this weekend, Lindsey is only getting started. Chase Robey 2B / Mount Saint Joseph, MD / 2027One of our biggest surprises of the weekend was Chase Robey, who made an impression on multiple coaches and staff members throughout the weekend. It's an upright stance with a high hand set up, but he gets the barrel through the zone to show off a consistent gap-to-gap hit tool. The strength continues to grow, and he flashed it with an absolute bomb of a backside over the left-field fence. If the hit tool can stay consistent throughout the summer campaign, look for him to open some eyes heading to a senior season at MSJ, where he should see a much more involved role. |
| |
Carter Vinar SS / Brunswick, MD / 2027Vinar put together one of the top performances our staff witnessed during the high school circuit, hitting for the cycle, which included a walk-off winning homer. After another positive look at our MD Summer Kickoff, Vinar flashed both sides during the tournament. On the offensive side, his loudest swing came after ambushing a fastball for a backside homer. On the pitching side, he pitched a complete game on Sunday to lead his team to a win. It's a more compact 5'9" frame, but the evident strength translates into a high-end hit tool, with the arm strength and clean defensive actions to stick in the middle of the infield. 2026 should be a big year for Vinar, who comes off hitting nearly .400 in the CMC and has already filled up the stat sheet across two different Prep Baseball tournaments. |
|
Jaiden Sarita 2B / Sherwood, MD / 2027One of my personal favorite players to watch all spring long, Sarita kept the ball rolling with a standout tournament, notching six hits with at least one in each game played. The plate discipline is noteworthy on the offensive end; he's not afraid to take what the defense gives him and attack any mistake pitches. The defensive actions have always been strong, which is why he continues to stick in the middle of the infield for the best defensive team in the state (Sherwood). As the frame fills out in a smaller frame, expect Sarita's stock to continue rising. |
|
Grayson Ryan RHP / Calvert Hall College, MD / 2027Following an impressive performance at the Maryland Summer Kickoff, Grayson Ryan made the trip to guest play with US Elite, guiding them to the 17U championship with a strong effort on the mound. After allowing a leadoff homer, he dialed in and competed in the zone with a really nice feel for the slider. Velocity was a tick down, but still worked the heater into the upper-80s while flashing four pitches for strikes. The 2025 Future Games alum struck out ten over five innings, allowing only two hits. While it's certainly an arm first, he flashed the hit tool as well with an absolute bomb to left-center to emphasize his impact to the team. |
Class of 2028 Standouts
| |
Brandon Toadvine LHP / Saint Michaels, MD / 2028After a spring campaign that saw Toadvine work to a 2.2 ERA over 35 innings, he started off the summer on the right note with a dominant outing in Game 1 of pool play. The sophomore southpaw worked 6.2 innings of one-run ball, striking out ten while working nearly 65% strikes. The maturity is evident, showing the ability to land three pitches for strikes on any count, translating from the spring, where he posted a 2.5 K/BB ratio over the course of the season. It was also nice to see some velo uptick as well, sitting in the mid-80s while grabbing an occasional 87. When it comes to southpaws to follow this summer, look no further than one of the Bayside's best. |
| |
Austin Callaway RHP / Delmar, DE / 2028This was one of the top arms on our radar heading into the summer after an impressive performance in last year's tournament. We didn't have the chance to see him on the mound over the course of the spring, but he flashed an arsenal that makes you question why he wasn't utilized in a more prominent role. The control for both pitches is still developing, but he showed the ability to get whiffs in the zone with a fastball up to 90, sitting in the upper 80s. It's a shorter, shaped curveball that is thrown primarily to right-handed hitters. As feel continues to increase, expect to hear this name more and more over the coming months. |
| |
Warner Bachmann RHP / Calvert Hall College, MD / 2028For a Calvert Hall team that'll enter 2027 with the deepest pitching staff in the conference, Warner Bachmann is just another bullpen option that may be utilized in some capacity. Although it wasn't the sharpest or cleanest outing, Bachmann showed the ability to land four pitches for strikes with feel for the secondary mix. The velo is now sitting in the mid-80s, and as the body gets cleaned up, it isn't out of the question to be in the mid-80s next spring. |
| |
James Bowman OF / Dulaney, MD / 2028A physical outfielder with evident strength in the frame, Bowman left an impression with one of our staff members after two loud pieces of contact during Saturday's pool play, which included a bomb to dead center. The arm strength continues to get better, paired with an average run tool. Offensive consistency will always be the biggest question, but Bowman's offensive ceiling makes him a close watch this summer after hitting nearly .400 for the 4A state runner-ups. |
| |
Jack Schuerman 1B / Walt Whitman, MD / 2028Schuerman was a big contributor this spring for Walt Whitman, and followed that up with three hits over the course of the weekend in Salisbury. The biggest swing came in their first game of the tournament, a two-run homer over the 15-foot fence in left field. It's a physical 6'1" frame with strength that allows for consistent mid to high-90s exit velocities. |
| |
Jackson Schmidt SS / Gonzaga College, VA / 2028When it comes to tournament performers, nobody has been as hot as Jackson Schmidt over the first two weeks across Maryland and Virginia. Up here in Maryland, Schmidt showed off the ability on the bump, running the fastball up to 88. It was promising to also see the strike percentage at 68% through three innings, surrendering no walks while striking out four. Paired with the fastball, the sophomore also showed off a quicker low-80s slider for swing and miss in the zone. He flashed the hit tool in this tournament, but absolutely exploded the following weekend in Richmond, hitting four homers, a triple, and a double for a total of six extra base hits. The pull side strength is evident with the ability to show it off gap-to-gap, making him one of the top follows this summer on both sides from a durable 6'1", 180-lb frame. Video attached from both weekends. |
