Prep Baseball Scout Day: USA Scout -Quick Hits
May 20, 2026
Alpharetta, GA - The "USA Scout" Scout Day took place on Sunday March 17th as staff traveled to Denmark High School to conduct the event. These types of events serve as an identifier of talent across multiple grad classes as the spring season is coming to an end and we can follow these names into the summer circuit.

Today, we take a closer look at some of the top performers from the event on Sunday. ⤵️
"USA Scout" Scout Day- Quick Hits
Jack Burke, RHP, 2027, Creekview
Uncommitted. Burke put together an impressive junior campaign with the Grizzlies and carried it right over into the showcase setting. Physical 6-foot-1, 183-pounds with some projection remaining throughout. The right-hander creates a tough angle from a lower ¾ arm slot and gets down the mound well with a stout lower half. Showed feel to land the fastball to either half of the plate for strikes at 85-87. Innate feel to spin the slider at 73-74 with an average of 2900 + RPM’s and grabbed a couple 3000 RPM’s as well. Chance to be a future advanced offering down the line with sharp bite for whiffs out of the same tunnel off the fastball. Mixed in a quality changeup at 78-79. It’s a well-rounded arsenal for Burke that will seemingly only get better and will be a name to monitor throughout the summer and so forth.

Trey Bailey, 3B/OF, 2027, Denmark
Uncommitted. It was yet another strong look at Bailey who just seems to perform in each setting. Athletic 5-foot-10, 163-pounds and a well-connected LH cut. Sprayed the ball to both gaps in a line-drive oriented approach throughout BP and finished the round with a max exit velocity of 94.4. Took quality swings throughout the simulated game and looked the part from the left-side. Excellent separation and transfers weight well in a bit of a longer load. Present hand/bat speed through the zone in a direct path to the ball with ability to create leverage and manipulate on-plane. Also shows positional flexibility across the diamond with athleticism to stick in the dirt or grass long-term.
Great swing from 2027 3B/OF Trey Bailey as he drives this into the LCF gap.

Thomas Davis, 3B, 2028, North Hall
The North Hall 3B put together a fantastic showing throughout the afternoon on Sunday. Present athleticism in the 6-foot-2, 173-pound frame with tools to project. Lived on the barrel in BP as he consistently worked back up-the-middle in a line-drive oriented approach. Posted a max exit velocity of 94.8 throughout the round. Carried it over into gameplay as he hammered one high off the top of the left-field wall in his last at-bat. The RHH syncs up nicely in a well-connected RH cut as he sets his back foot pre-pitch and utilizes a slight leg-lift load to consistently stay on time. Excellent balance and leverage alike with barrel feel present in a compact path while showing fast hands through the zone. The profile will only continue to grow for Davis and could be one to potentially buy stock in now before August 1st.
Impressive cut in gameplay here from 2028 3B Thomas Davis.

Rylin Lyemance, 3B, 2027, Walton
The quality looks from Lyemance continue to stack up. He had to take some time off late in the season due to sickness, but appeared to not miss a beat. The EV’s matched his breakout numbers he put up in January, showing the consistency and the ability to maintain the added strength throughout a long year of baseball. The 6-foot-5 frame just keeps moving better and better and he will be on another breakout campaign this summer.

Simple actions & stays balanced with a whippy barrel through the zone. @USASCOUTGA || #USAScoutDay pic.twitter.com/PJArqDD4kS
Cooper Chupp, INF, 2029, Pinecrest
It is always fun to see freshmen we haven’t had the chance to see yet, and Chupp had a strong day across the board. The swing is smooth from the left side and he had a max EV of 87.6. The strength will continue to fill out, and will start to transform his game over the next 2-3 years. He filled up the zone on the mound with clean actions and an athletic arm.

Loose hands that turn the barrel over well & aptitude to work backside. #USAScoutDay pic.twitter.com/tRjrbA37nU
Parker Hope, C, 2027, Allatoona
Uncommitted. Hope missed time this spring after getting hit in the eye early in the year, but he is back healthy and ready for a big summer. He tossed a 1.98 pop in between innings and showed the usual strong catch and throw behind the plate. During BP he posted a max EV of 96.3 and he also ran a 6.76 which is down from a 6.89 the last time we saw him. Hope is going to be a must see backstop this summer as one of the top uncommitted catchers in the state.

Good balance & stays compact in a linear path with ability to spray the ball to both gaps. @PB_Uncommitted #USAScoutDay pic.twitter.com/eImZi6Oy2Z
Jake Spurlin, SS, 2027, Tift County
Another setting where we see the former Future Gamer and Elon commit continues to get better. Spurlin showed a massive power uptick this spring, nearly hitting double-digit HR and tapped into that on Sunday with a couple loud rounds of BP. Syncs up the longer load well with barrel feel to hammer balls to both gaps without selling out and was one of the few players on the day to hit triple-digits off a tough machine. The SS carried that into the simulated game where he quickly went pull-side 3B and backside HR in his first two at-bats. Speed continues to improve as well for Spurlin, who put down his fastest 60 on record with a 6.85 and only helps round out the high-floor profile.
Spurlin has been one of my favorite “underrated” players in the state for years now and continues to build the profile.

Coley Avery, 3B/1B, 2028, Denmark
It was my first look at the sophomore corner infielder, and Avery looked the part throughout an impressive afternoon. Physical 6-foot-0, 219-pound frame shows strength in the lower half while holding room to still mature physically. Balanced stride to contact from a higher hand slot with loose hands to create length through the finish. Put together some of the most consistent rounds of BP on the day with feel to hammers line-drives back through the middle of the field with ease. Quality approach flashed in the sim game to match while coming through with a good backside knock as well. The senior class departing for Denmark will be significant, so look for Avery to have a chance to make an impact next spring.

Haydenn Downes, OF, 2027, Carrollton
The power/speed combo for the Kennesaw State was on display often during Carrollton’s final four run this spring and looks poised for even more this summer after a strong showing this past weekend. The outfielder opened the day with an event-best 6.66 in the 60, showing an explosive (1.60 10yd. split) with athleticism shining throughout the lean 6-foot-2, 188-pound frame. BP rounds were equally as potent for Downes as the pull-side heavy approach was on display as he led the day in max distance (385ft.) and 2nd in Max EV (102.5). There’s still a significant ceiling that Downes can reach and continues to show it could be much sooner than later.

Cooper Patterson, OF, 2027, Marietta
Uncommitted. The 5-foot-10, 189 pound out-fielder Patterson, Impressed at USA Scout Day with a very smooth swing flashing top end bat speed w/ a good feel of bat to ball swings. He had a very line drive centered/based round of BP hitting line drives all over the field. Patterson has a calm striding load keeping his hands steady and throwing them at the ball. He also ran a 6.98 second 60 yard dash (1.73 10yd. split) in the event leaving all of his tools on display throughout the day. The ceiling for Patterson continues to grow each and every year.

Bryce Fontenot, 1B, 2027, Cherokee Bluff
Uncommitted. The 6-foot-2, 228 pound 1B Fontenot, showed out at USA Scout Day headlined by a 102.9 max exit velocity, while also posting a 7.11 second 60 yard dash (1.73 10yd, split). Fontenot has a very good barrel feel at the plate putting good swings on many balls during BP, featuring a leg kick load keeping his hands steady and leaving the barrel in the zone while connecting with the ball driving it up the middle staying connected.
