2026 South Dakota Class A State Tournament Preview

Bryson Esser C / Harrisburg, SD / 2028

A smooth swinging sophomore athleticism to boot. Esser is hitting .451 on the year and a potent top of the lineup bat for the Tigers. A name to circle and keep tabs on this summer and beyond. 

Kade Wede RHP / Harrisburg, SD / 2027

Wede possesses an upper-80s to low-90s fastball with 3 polished offspeed pitches. Wede has struck out 63 hitters in 29.2 IP on the year. The 2nd ranked RHP in the state and Future Games is undoubtedly Harrisburg's ace.

Caleb Severin RHP / Brandon Valley, SD / 2027

Brandon Valley's leader on the mound has put up 1.537 ERA in 27.1 innings this spring, striking out 39. Severin was our pitcher of the week back in mid April. Caleb will fill up the zone and give the Lynx a good shot whenever he steps on the mound.

Brody Jacobson SS / Jefferson, SD / 2026

The future Northern State Wolf has done nothing but hit this spring for the Cavaliers. Jacobson has a .410 batting average with 25 hits on the year. Consistant top of the lineup production. 

Everett Salonen RHP / Jefferson, SD / 2027

In 30 innings, Everett has struck out 41 hitters, holding a solid 1.630 ERA. The physical right-hander from Jefferson has been in the mid-upper 80s consistently in front of our staff. 2025 Future Games alum.

Sam Gokie / Yankton, SD / 2026

32 innings, 0.656 ERA. The Mount Marty commit filled up the zone every time he's stepped on the hill in 2026. Gokie has only walked 2 batters on the season. Gokie was our pitcher of the week back in week 5. He's also hitting .484 on the year 👀

Caiden Comparetto LHP / OF / Stevens, SD / 2027

Comparetto has put up a massive year for the Raiders so far, hitting .515 with 18 RBIs. The uncommitted Junior is a name to watch at the top of the Stevens lineup.

Trevor Schlosser 1B / RHP / Stevens, SD / 2027

The junior RHP for Stevens has been carving. Schlosser has struck out 52 in 28.1 innings this spring, while hitting .348 on the year. Impacts the game on both sides of the ball. 

Carter Schiefelbein SS / OF / Pierre, SD / 2027

The Governors shortstop has been nothing but impressive theis season. Schiefelbein is hitting .477 on the year with 12 XBH, including 5 triples and 26 stolen bags. Carter Will be at the Top Prospect Games on June 2nd in Sioux Falls.  

Alex McKinney OF / O'Gorman, SD / 2027

The 24th ranked player in the Dakotas class of 2027 has 30 hits on the season, driving in 15 runs. Simple movements around the Diamond, another Dakota Top Prospect Games participant. 

Bennett Duncan RHP / 3B / O'Gorman, SD / 2026

The no. 6 ranked senior in the Dakotas will be at his future home field this weekend. Duncan has led the Knights on both sides of the ball this season. Bennett holds a 2.079 ERA, hitting .411 on the season.

Markus Pitkin OF / Watertown, SD / 2026

The future NIACC Trojan collected a hit in over half of his at bats so far this season. Pitkin has a .519 average with 4 triples. Look for his present athleticism at Ronken Field on Friday. 

Hunter Halajian LHP / Watertown, SD / 2026

The effective southpaw has struck out 32 in 25 innings pitched this year. The Uncomitted senior is a name coaches should circle back on for the weekend.
