Today we are releasing our sixth update to the Virginia/DC Private School Top 10. Our final update for the Private School Top 10 will come on Wednesday May 20th. Take a look at some notes on a few teams from inside the rankings.

  • The top four teams do not change.
    • Paul VI remains at the top of the group. The Panthers have two regular season games left this week before they begin preparing for the WCAC and VISAA tournaments.
    • Miller School went 3-0 last week and had yet another win over a Power 25 team. They are certainly the most battle tested as we prepare for the VISAA tournament in two weeks.
    • St. Anne's-Belfield has two massive matchups this week with Highland School and Miller School. Could two wins over those private school powers allow them to leapfrog a few teams and make their way back to the top?
    • Bishop O'Connell had a two week span of tough games, which is where they dropped four of the five games on the season. The Knights also have two remaining regular season games before WCAC and VISAA playoffs. Can they cement themselves as one of the top three or four teams for the VISAA DI playoffs?

  • Two familiar faces make their way back into the Private School Top 10, St. John's College HS and Cape Henry Collegiate.
    • St. John's had a rough patch just a few weeks back, losing five straight games over a nine day period. The Cadets have righted the ship and are winners of their last seven games. The perennial power had wins over Bishop O'Connell and Gonzaga among others. This team was going to take some lumps early, but are the Cadets getting back to their old winning ways right before the WCAC playoffs. Do not count them out.
    • Since April 1, Cape Henry has played eleven games, going 7-4 over that three week span. All four of those losses have come to quality opponents, but they are searching for a signature win to solidify them as a potential Top 6 seed in the VISAA playoffs. Before they get there though, they will have to navigate the TCIS tournament which does give them a chance to secure another quality win or two.

    • Along with our Power 25 on Mondays, we will update our Private School Top 10 every Wednesday.
