We have our weekly to the 2026 VA/DC Power 25, this one being the fifth overall update.  In 2025, the Virginia High School League pushed the season start and finish back one week, which has created some stark differences in where public and private teams are at in their season. Without further ado, we are going to highlight a few teams that have seen some movement in the Power 25. See some discussion on the Power 25 and many other topics on the most recent episode of High & Tight.

VA/DC Power 25 Update Notes

+ Atlee (10-1) remains at the top spot. The Raiders had a three game week where they won all three and had a convincing 8-1 win over a previously ranked Hanover team. Their remaining schedule leans towards the chance for a very strong finish for Atlee, as they have three games left versus teams that would be considered Tier 1-2 opponents.

+ Paul VI, Miller School, and St. Anne's-Belfield all had undefeated weeks.

  • PVI had two games and won both in extremely convincing fashion. The Panthers scored 31 total runs and gave up only one. They have only two regular season games remaining before they get into WCAC tournament play, followed by VISAA tournament play.
  • Miller School had another strong week, going 3-0, including a win over Great Bridge on Friday. They have six scheduled games this week, including a home and away double header on Thursday, where they typically split squad this day and come away with two potential wins in two separate locations. Another big matchup this week for the Mavs with a Top 5 showdown on Saturday vs STAB at UVA.
  • Speaking of STAB, the #4 Saints have the most challenging week of all these top teams, with two games versus Power 25 opponents (Highland and Miller School). STAB secured three wins last week, including a home/home series sweep over Trinity Episcopal and a five run win over Norfolk Academy on Saturday.
  • These teams are trending up and should have basically secured top three, no less than top four seeds in the VISAA DI tournament. Both PVI and STAB hold wins over Bishop O'Connell, with the Knights more than likely coming into the #4 seed for the VISAA tournament.

+ Lake Braddock remains as one of our two unbeaten team inside the Power 25. The Bruins have thirteen wins and are coming off of a series sweep versus rival West Springfield. Their early week victory was in walk-off fashion with a game winning single by Andrew Laskofski, while the Friday finale was also a 7th inning come from behind win. Laskofski delivered another bit hit to tie it up, but it was Evan Chambers that delivered the go ahead hit with two outs. Beau Padgett (Ferrum) retired the side in order in the bottom of the 7th to seal the final win in that regular season series.

+ With two teams moving out, we have two teams moving in. Manchester and Walsingham Academy move into the Power 25 for the first time this year.

  • Manchester settles into the #24 spot after a 11-1 start to the season. The Lancers have thrown seven shutouts this season, with their lone loss coming to a top ten ranked James River (Midlo). Manchester has two or three remaining big games in the regular season, including a rematch versus the Rapids on May 5th. That matchup will more than likely see one of the leading candidates for Pitcher of the Year on the mound. Judah Parks (Lynchburg) did not throw versus James River in the first game and looking at the way the schedule shapes up, he would more than likely get the ball in that one. Parks has not allowed a run all year and has been lights out for the Lancers.
  • Walsingham has won thirteen of their last fifteen games, including winning three games last week. Their biggest win last week came at Norfolk Academy on Thursday. How does the rest of the season shape up for the Trojans? Walsingham has a little revenge matchup today (4/27) vs Christchurch, but their biggest game will come at Benedictine on Saturday for another potential get back game from an early season loss to the Cadets. Walsingham is far and away the favorite in VISAA DIII and could be riding some big momentum as they prepare for the TCIS and VISAA tournaments.
