As we have for the past few years, each week we will be highlighting the staff's pick for the VA/DC High School Player of the Week. Each selection is made from a game that a staff member was at the previous week. While last week, due to spring break in a few places, was a bit lighter in terms of total game count, it was not light in terms of big output from players. Take a look at who brings home the Week 6 Player of the Week.
VA/DC Player of the Week: Kason Wagner
The Coastal Carolina commit delivers once again. This time he did allow a hit, but only one. Wagner threw a 73 pitch complete game where he struck out nine hitters, allowed zero walks, zero hit batters, and ended up facing the bare minimum of hitters (21) on the day. The Miller School ace threw 78% strikes on the day, which is just an absolutelty staggering number that you will not find much, especially when we are talking about an extended outing, or in this case a complete game. Versus in state opponents, Wagner has 25 IP, averaging 14 pitches per inning, has allowed 10 hits, has 48 strikeouts, and bolsters a 1.4 ERA. He seems to be getting stronger as the season has progressed, especially from the standpoint of command and ability to take over a game.
