Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 1 St. Laurence routed DePaul College Prep by the score of 17-3. The Vikings offense was led by Tristan Steger (2027; Kentucky Commit), who went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a single, hit by pitch, and four RBIs. Daniel Coyle (2026; Lewis Commit) went 3-for-4 with three singles, a run scored, and two RBIs. Sean Popp (2026; Oakton CC Commit) drove in a two-RBI single as part of a 12-run second inning put up by the Vikings. Orlando Vazquez (2026) and Dave Campbell each hit RBI doubles in this contest. John Strzechowski (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) tossed four innings and struck out seven batters, which earned him the win.

Champaign Central came from behind dramatically to win against No. 2 Normal Community 9-8. Carter Harris (2026; Olivet Nazarene Commit) led the Ironmen offense with two RBIs on his two-run home run. Other key Ironmen performers include Josh Jones (2026; Indiana State Commit) with two doubles and an RBI, Andrew Naour (2026) with an RBI double, and Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati Commit) with an RBI triple. For Champaign Central, they put up a six-run seventh inning to walk off the Ironmen. It happened by Ryan Pipkins (2028) htting a two-run home run to bring the deficit closer to three. Later, Will Ciciora (2027) drove in an RBI single to cut the deficit to two. Then, the next batter was Wilson McDaniel (2026) who played hero in this contest. He hit the walk-off bases-clearing double for a dramatic come-from-behind victory for the Maroons. By the way, his own hit got him the win on the mound when he went 4.1 innings in relief and struck out four batters.

No. 3 Lincoln-Way East defeated Bradley-Borbonnais by the score of 9-2. Evan Riiff (2027; Valparaiso Commit), Rocco Triolo (2027), and Jacob Newman (2026; Lewis Commit) each led the way for the Griffins offense with two RBIs. Riiff hit a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice, Triolo with a two-run home run, and Newman hit an RBI double and RBI groundout. Casey Mikrut (2027) hit two singles and an RBI while stealing two bases. Curtiss Crossley (2027) stole three bags in this contest. Ryan Flanagan (2026; Rock Valley JC Commit) tossed five scoreless frames and struck out five, which earned him the win.

No. 4 Huntley defeated Cary-Grove by the score of 3-1. Aiden Eickelmann hit the RBI double in the first inning, Gavin Rettberg (2026) with the RBI single in the fourth, and Brady Klepfer (2026; UW-Parkside Commit) hit the sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Joey Lengle (2027) and Kyle Ziebell (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) each stole two bases in this contest. Brady Klepfer (2026; UW-Parkside Commit) pitched 5.2 strong innings and struck out four, which earned him the win. Rowan Parker (2027) came in and slammed the door and recorded the four-out save.

Mundelein took down No. 6 Libertyville by the score of 11-9. The Mustangs were led by Logan Young (2026) and Dan Stricklin (2026; McHenry County JC Commit), who each drove in two RBIs. Young hit a solo home run and an RBI single, and Stricklin hit the go-ahead RBI double that proved to be the game-winner in the seventh. Another key performer was Johnny Weiss (2026; UI-Springfield Commit), who went 2-for-3 with a single, a solo home run, walk, three stolen bases, and three runs scored. Weiss also picked up the win by pitching the final three innings and striking out two. For Libertyville, their key performer was Braden Tolzien (2026; Heartland CC Commit), who went 2-for-4 with two singles, a run scored, and three RBIs.

No. 7 Brother Rice defeated Fenwick by the score of 4-1. Some small ball was played in this one. The Crusaders put up a three-spot in the sixth inning on three bases-loaded walks from Gavin Stanislawski (2027), Joey Escobarete (2027), and Brent Nevils(2026; Xavier (LA) Commit). Aidan Dillon (2027) pitched a 61-pitch complete game and struck out three batters.

No. 8 Triad shut out Civic Memorial 3-0. Auggie Bugger went 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI while Kade Rocca (2027) hit an RBI triple in this contest. Noah Keller took the hill and pitched a steller complete game shutout by striking out 14 batters. No.9 Chicago Mt. Carmel shut out Providence Catholic 10-0. Logan Fernandez led the way for the Caravan offense by going 1-for-4 with an RBI groundout and a two-run double. TJ McQuillan went 2-for-4 with a double, single, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Owen Morgan hit a solo home run to knock in his RBI of the game. Joey Ireland got on-base all four times with an RBI double, a hit by pitch, and two walks. No.9 Chicago Mt. Carmel shut out Providence Catholic 10-0. Logan Fernandez (2026; Triton JC Commit) led the way for the Caravan offense by going 1-for-4 with an RBI groundout and a two-run double. TJ McQuillan (2026; Wake Forest Commit) went 2-for-4 with a double, single, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Owen Morgan (2027) hit a solo home run to knock in his RBI of the game. Joey Ireland (2026; Illinois Commit) got on-base all four times with an RBI double, a hit by pitch, and two walks. Ian Tosi (2026; Miami Commit) tossed 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball and struck out six while only giving up a hit.

No. 10 Lane Tech shut out Taft by the score of 5-0. Jacob DeVinney (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit) and Conor Sullivan (2026) each collected RBI hits for the Champions. DeVinney hit the RBI double and Sullivan the RBI single. Miles Mazanowski (2027) also knocked in an RBI on his sacrifice fly. The Champions combined for a one-hit shutout from their pitching staff. Dodger Firedrich (2028) tossed four hitless frames and struck out eight batters. Hunter Smith (2026) delivered two hitless frames, and then Alex Delaney (2026; Hope Commit) finished it off with two strikeouts while only giving up a hit.

No. 11 St. Joseph-Ogden defeated Paxton-Buckley-Loda by the score of 15-4. The Spartans offense was led by Trevor Ames (2026; Morton JC Commit), who went 3-for-4 with two singles, a three-run home run, hit by pitch, two runs scored, two stolen bases, and four RBIs. Parker Fitch (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) went 2-for-4 with a triple, single, a run scored, and two RBIs. Bryson Houchens (2026; Morton JC Commit) knocked in two RBIs on his bases-loaded walk and RBI groundout. Finn Miller (2027) got on the RBI board with his RBI double. Trevor Ames got the win by delivering four innings and striking out five. Finn Miller punched out four of the eight batters he faced.

No. 12 McHenry took down Jacobs 8-3 to improve to 13-2-1 on the season. Bennet Baumann (2026; 4-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R), Landon Clements (2027; Illinois-Chicago commit; 2-for-4, HR, RBI, 2 R, SB), and Garet Lobbins (2027; 3-for-4, 2B, RBI, R) powered the Warriors offense. Nathan Neidhardt (2026) was dominant in relief, going four perfect innings, striking out four. Jace Koth (2027) and Aaden Colon (2027) collected the two hits for the Golden Eagles.

No. 13 Marquette held on to beat RBLW (CO-OP) by the score of 5-4. Griffin Dobberstein and Braxton Nelle (2027) both hit a two-run home run to lead the Crusaders offense. Alec Novotney (2026; Valparaiso Commit) delivered five stong innings and struck out 11 batters, which earned him the win. Jaxsen Higgins (2026), who collected an RBI single, pitched a six-out save to close out this contest.

No. 14 Mascoutah defeated Waterloo 2-1. Gabe James (2027) put up the only RBIs of the game for the Indians by driving in a two-run single. Darren Klein (2027) went the distance on the mound with a complete game and six strikeouts.

No. 15 Lyons routed Glenbard West by the score of 14-2. The Lions offense was led by Tommy Georgelos (2026; Eastern Illinois Commit) when he hit a three-run home run and a sacrifice fly. Lou Ratcliffe (2026) went 2-for-4 with two singles, a sacrifice fly, a run, and three RBIs. Brady Koren (2027), Nick Hines (2027), and Aidan Webster (2027) all hit RBI doubles in the seventh inning. Webster also stole two bases out of the team's ten stolen bases. Charlie Danaher (2027) tossed 4.2 innings and struck out four, which earned him the win.

No. 18 Lincoln-Way West defeated Homewood-Flossmoor 4-3 on a walk-off wild pitch. Matt Oberts (2026; Wisconsin-Platteville commit) scored the winning run to seal the victory. Carson Paulas (2026) and Michael Pettit (2026; Notre Dame commit) each collected a hit and a run scored for the Warriors. Emmett Carlson (2027) got the win in relief, going three solid innings, allowing one run on two hits, while striking out two. Jalen Webb (2027) led the Vikings offense going 2-for-2 with a HR, 2B and a walk. Cormac Saunders (2026) went 6.2 innings on the bump, allowing two hits, four runs (one earned) and struck out nine.

No. 19 Lemont defeated Bremen 14-2. Mike Kalkowski (2027) led the offense with four RBIs on his grand slam. Matteo Rendina (2027) hit a three-run home run in this contest. Cannon Madej (2026; Sothwestern Illinois JC Commit) recorded two stolen bases while knocking in an RBI single and drawing two walks. Grady Garofalo (2026; South Suburban JC Commit) led the team with three stolen bases. The pitching staff combined to strike out ten batters. Nate Zdenovec (2028) threw two innings and punched out three, Carson Caruso (2026) fanned four batters in four innings, and Brett Tucker (2026; Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Commit) struck out the side to end the game.

No. 20 Geneva walked-off Wheaton-Warrenville South 5-4 on a Gavin Dworak (2028) single.The Vikings (14-2) got a big day from Mason Bruesch (2027; Michigan State commit) who went 2-for-4 with a HR, 2B and two RBI. Bruesch also got the start on the mound, tossing five innings, allowing four runs (three earned), while striking out four. Alex Abraham (2027; 2-for-2, 2B, 2 BB) and Blake Kopec (2026; 3 IP, H, 0R, K) also contributed to the victory. AJ Rogers (2027) homered for the Tigers and Reece Franks (2026; Wheaton College (IL) commit) collected three hits.

No. 21 Normal University cruised past Seneca 15–0 in four innings to improve to 15–2 on the season. Wes Thompson (2028; 2-for-4, 2B, 4 RBI, R), Griffin Meyer (2026; 3-for-3, RBI, 2 R), Bodey Klemmensen (2026; 2-for-2, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R), and Caleb Hornbrook (2026; Lake Land JC; 2-for-4, 3 R) led strong offensive attack. Colton Carpenter (2028) earned the win going all four innings, allowing just three baserunners while striking out eight.

No. 22 Nazareth took down Marian Catholic 8-1. Connor McKay (2026; Northern Illinois) tossed a complete game with three hits, one run, eight strikeouts and two walks. Landon Thome (2026; Florida State) was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Gavin Hartigan (2028) added a home run and four RBIs - while freshman Todd Dulaney added a single, walk and two runs scored.

Glenbrook North took down No. 23 New Trier 9-2. Theo Gerothans led the Spartans offense by going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and three RBIs. Michael Nagel (2026) played the long ball in this one with a two-run home run. Dean Miller (2026) pitched a quality start by tossing five innings and striking out eight batters, which earned him the win. Riley Cook (2028) and Chase Estrada (2029) each knocked in RBI singles for New Trier.

No. 24 St. Rita topped Loyola Academy 8–6 to improve to 12–2 on the season. The Mustangs got a hit from each of the first seven hitters in the lineup, highlighted by home runs from Colin Quinn (2026; Heartland CC commit) and Ryan Jones (2027). Quinn finished the day 1-for-2 with three RBI, two walks, and a run scored via the home run. Greg Zaber (2027) got the win on the mound going four innings, allowing two runs. Jayden Ibarra (2027) added an RBI single. Despite the loss, Bennett Kono (2028; 4-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R) and Peter LaFontaine (2026; Milwaukee Area JC; 3-for-4, 3 RBI) had big days at the plate.

No. 25 Dunlap shut out East Peoria 4-0 to improve to 15-3 on the season. Carter Lippens (2027) was dominant over six innings, allowing just two hits and two walks, while striking out 11. Eli Michanicou (2027) closed out the shutout with a perfect seventh inning, striking out all three batters he faced. Ryder Rennette (2028) delivered a key two-run triple, while Isaac Babbs (2027) went 2-for-3 at the plate to help support the pitching staff. Ryan Duncheon Jr. (2026; Illinois State commit) got the start for the Raiders and went 6.1 innings, allowing three hits, four runs (two earned), while striking out an impressive 13.

The Saints improve to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in Dukane Conference play with a 7-1 win over Glenbard North. Nathan Moline was outstanding on the mound, throwing 5.2 innings, giving up three hits, giving up one earned run, while walking two and striking out six. Andrew Evans was 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three runs scored and one RBI. Moline was also 3-for-4 from the plate with one run scored. Rolling Meadows took down Schaumburg 6-5. Luke Schneider fired five innings with five hits, two earned runs and five strikeouts. Joe Brigham earned the win in relief, firing a clean inning with a strikeout. Tony Romanacce was a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored - while Ben Kusumpa added a double and two walks.

Emmitt Briner (2027) tired the game with an RBI double in the fifth inning. Christian Lott (2026; Southern University) swatted the game-winning home run in the top of the eighth inning. Malachi Sherman had two hits on the day.

Matt Bychowsky (2026) got the start and the win for the Gators and went five innings, allowing just one run, while striking out five. Tanner Maurer (2027) got the save, throwing two scoreless innings .John Morgan (2028) collected two hits, Nick Stowasser (2027) tripled, and the Gators scored their two runs on sacrifice flies from Colten Bondi (2027) and Wes Bogda (2028). Ridgeview defeated El Paso-Gridley by the score of 5-4, walking it off in the bottom of the eigth on an RBI single from Max Mason (2026). Mason finished the game 2-for-4 with one RBI, one run scored and a walk. Landon Ludwig (2028) started on the mound for the Mustangs and tossed four innings, struck out 11, walked two, allowed two earned runs and one hit - also adding a double in the game with two RBI. For El Paso-Gridley, Blake Harris (2028) threw five innings, struck out 11, walked four, allowed three runs and five hits. Owen Adams (2027) tallied a hit in the game with one RBI and one run scored, and Carson Dohman (2027) added a double with two RBI and one run scored.

Dundee-Crown took down Hampshire 12-2 in six innings. Isaac Grzynkowicz (2027) led the way for the Chargers, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Shane MeMarsh (2027) also collected two hits and two runs scored. Max Backaus (2027) went the full six innings to earn the win, allowing two unearned runs while striking out six. Prairie Ridge posted a 4–0 shutout over Burlington Central to improve to 12–2 on the season. Owen Satterlee (2027) continued his dominant season, going the distance while allowing just two hits, striking out 11, and not issuing a walk. Beckett Breseman (2027) collected two of the Wolves four hits on the day, while driving one in. Jack Spindler (2026) drove in two runs on one hit. Sam Maglares (2026) got the start for the Rockets and went six innings, allowing four runs on four hits, while striking out six.

Willowbrook took down Downers Grove South in a West Suburban Gold matchup as the Warriors improve to 13-4 on the year. Noah Edison (2026) threw a gem, scattering four hits over six innings with one earned run, striking out five. Alex Dew (2026) delivered the big blow in the game with a two RBI single to the RF gap, as Jory Crocker (2026; Arizona) and Ryan Dasbach (2026; St. Norbert) each had RBIs as well.

Hinsdale Central took down York 14-11. Billy Main paced the offense going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Max Judge (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) and Dylan Kassab (1-for-1, 4 BB, 2R) both had strong days at the plate as well.
