LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The Prep Baseball California High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a California high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays. 

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

WEEK 8 PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2026 RHP Evan Alexander, Harvard Westlake - PENN Signee

Alexander has settled in nicely into the role of second starter for the Wolverines and last week provided his best performance in a series clinching win over rival Notre Dame. 

The PENN signee was masterful, throwing a complete game shutout while allowing just one hit and finishing with 11 strikeouts as the Wolverines vaulted themselves into first place in the Mission League. Alexander also had two walks in the game. The first was wiped out by a double play by the next batter, and the second was a two-out freebie that was stranded on base in the bottom of the seventh. He never had more than one runner on in any given inning. 

For the season, Alexander is having a career year with a 7-1 record and 52 strikeouts against just 17 walks over his eight starts. The eleven strikeouts last week are a season high.
