Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 1 St. Laurence took down No. 7 Lockport 2-1 in a top 10 Illinois matchup. The Vikings struck first in the second inning when Jacob Hite (2028) hit the RBI fielder's choice in the second inning. The offense got shut down for the next five innings until Sean Popp (2026; Oakton CC Commit) hit the game-winning RBI single in the eighth inning. Throughout this contest, Jimmy Benson (2027; TCU Commit) took the mound and had an incredible performance. He went all eight innings, threw 119 pitches, and struck out 18 batters.

No. 3 Lincoln-Way East routed Bradley-Bourbonnais 17-4. The Griffins came up huge early with a seven-run first inning and a ten-run second inning. Cooper Johnson (2027; Purdue Commit) led the offense going 1-for-3 with a bases-clearing double, RBI fielder's choice, a walk, stolen base, two runs scored, and four RBIs. Casey Mikrut (2027) went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, a stolen base, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Jacob Newman (2026; Lewis Commit) drove in a two-RBI double for this contest. Matt Ritter (2028) played the long ball for the Griffins hitting a two-run home run. Ryan Flanagan (2026; Rock Valley JC Commit) had a nice relief outing by pitching the third inning and striking out three of the four batters he faced with no runs allowed.

No. 5 Libertyville defeated Crystal Lake Central by the score of 10-6. Madden Cotts (2027; Bradley Commit) went 2-for-4 with a single, two-run home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Jack Cenar (2026) went 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple, sacrifice fly, stolen base, a run scored, and two RBIs. Aksel McKnight (2027) drove in two RBIs on two fielder's choices. Carson Homes (2026) drove in the go-ahead RBI double that started the rally in the ninth inning where the Wildcats put up four runs. Madden Cotts pitched the final two innings and was perfect when he retired all six batters he faced and struck out four of them.

Deerfield won the rubber match in the weekly three-game series against No. 9 New Trier by the score of 2-1. Chase Estrada (2029) hit the RBI single to put New Trier up early 1-0, which would stay that way until the bottom of the seventh. This was a pitcher's dual throughout between Nick Bailey (2026) of New Trier and Liam Connolly (2027) of the Warriors. Bailey tossed 6.1 scoreless innings and struck out 12 batters. Connolly went six innings and struck out nine batters and ending up with a no-decision. Jesse Feldman (2026) pitched the seventh inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced, which earned him the win and this is how it happened. After three straight walks, Chase Golding (2027) hit the game-tying RBI single to move everyone from station-to-station. Then, the next batter, Drew Wiener (2026), hit the walk-off RBI single to win it for the Warriors. Will Sendor (2B), Grant Wilson (2B), Alex Edgar (2B) and Jack Agran (2B, R) all doubled in the contest.

No. 11 Brother Rice shut out Montini 5-0. The Crusaders offense was led by Brady Cunningham (2027; Texas A&M Commit), who went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and a two-run home run. Gavin Stanislawski (2027) played the long ball as well with a solo home run. Luca Agne (2027) also produced for the offense with an RBI bunt-single. Brayden McKendrick pitched a complete game shutout with ten strikeouts and giving up two hits.

No. 14 Marquette shut out Dwight by the score of 8-0. The Crusaders offense was led by Griffin Dobberstein (2027), who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a solo home run, and three RBIs. Alec Novotney (2026; Valparaiso Commit) had a day as well going 3-for-4 with two singles, a solo home run, stolen base, two runs scored, and an RBI. Braxton Nelle (2027) had a perfect 3-for-3 with three singles, a run, and an RBI. Griffin Dobberstein also got the job done on the mound by tossing 4.2 scoreless innings and striking out eight batters, which earned him the win.

No. 15 St. Joseph-Ogden routed Bloomington Central Catholic by the score of 19-5. This included a nine-run fifth inning for the Spartans. Logan Rosenthal (2026; Heartland CC Commit) led the team with five RBIs, which included a bases-clearing triple. Bryson Houchens (2026; Morton JC Commit) hit a grand slam as part of that fifth inning. He and Trevor Ames (2026; Morton JC Commit) went back-to-back as Ames had himself a two-homer game (both on solo shots). Dalton York (2027) and Finn Miller (2027) were both busy on the basepaths as they each recorded two stolen bases in this contest. Parker Finch (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) tossed five innings and struck out six batters, which earned him the win in a quality start. Dalton York came in relief and pitched the final two frames and punched out five batters out of the six outs he put up.

No. 16 Mascoutah took down Jersey by a score of 2-0, featuring a pitchers duel between Brandon Klein and Hayden LaPlant. Klein (2029) was in complete control for Mascoutah, throwing seven shutout innings and only allowing one hit, one walk, and punching out seven. Despite the loss, LaPlant (2026) was the lone pitcher for the Panthers and was strong in his six innings of work, allowing four hits, a walk, two earned runs, and punching out four.

No. 22 Lincoln-Way West slaughtered No. 18 Homewood-Flossmoor in this Power 25 matchup, winning by a score of 16-1. Lincoln-Way West had fourteen hits as a team, with six players finishing with a multi-hit day at the plate. Carson Paulus (2026) and Michael Pettit (2026, Notre Dame) brought in seven of the Warriors sixteen runs out of the top of the lineup, with each player finishing the day 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 2-for-5 with a HR and 4 RBIs, respectively. Owen Weber (2026) had the most hits of anyone at the plate, finishing the day 3-for-4 with an RBI. Luke Stoner (2028), Max Silic (2027), and Luke Tyrakowski (2027) all had two hit days, with each player finishing 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. On the mound Jackson Heinlen (2027) got the start and was sharp in his five innings of work, allowing three hits, a walk, an earned run and striking out three.

St. Charles North took down No. 19 Geneva in a Power 25 upset, winning 5-2. Ben Auer (2025, UW-Whitewhater) had a strong day on both sides of the ball. Auer got the start on the mound, finishing with three innings pitched, allowing four hits, two walks, an earned run and punching out seven, as well as finishing the day 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs. Emerson Miller (2026) was strong in his four innings of relief, allowing four hits, a walk, an earned run, and punching out six. Nick Gnutek (2027) also had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

No. 20 Lemont took down Evergreen Park by a score of 11-7. Cannon Madej (2026, SWIC) had a strong day out of the plate from the cleanup hole, coming around to score in all three of his plate appearances and finishing the day 2-for-2 with a triple, walk, and two RBIs. Matt Ciesla (2026) has a multi-hit game as well, finishing the day 2-for-3 with a walk and collecting three RBIs of this own. Sean Murray (2026) also collected three RBIs of his own, in his 1-for-3 showing. Lemont got help from three pitchers throughout the game, with Mike Preuss (2027) showing out as the top arm in this one, throwing three strong innings and allowing two hits, one walk, an earned run, and striking out five.

Lincoln-Way Central took down No. 24 Sandburg, winning 3-1. Lincoln-Way Central got our to an early 1-0 lead in the first but extended their lead in the 6th when Des Gill (2028) brought in two runs on a single to cap off a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Alex Panos (2026) was in controll on the mound, throwing five strikeout innings and only allowing four runners to reach base all game. Nolan Bartkus shut the door for the Knights, throwing two innings and allowing one run with three strikekouts to secure the win.

RHP Bobby Biggs (2026; Wartburg) fired a complete game four-hitter, striking out 10 and walking one as Willowbrook completed a sweep of Hinsdale South with a 9-0 road victory. 1B Alek Ramey (2026; Rock Valley) drove in five runs with a two-run home run, two-run double and a sac fly. C Alex Rodriguez (2027) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and CF Jake Bonino (2026; South Suburban) doubled and stole three bases for the Warriors (11-4).

Prairie Ridge took down Hampshire 6-2 on Thursday evening in a FVC matchup. Jack Dahlem (2026; Loras College (Golf)) finished 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Maddon McKim hit a two-run homer, Beckett Bresman doubled and drove in a run, and Zach Techen (2027) doubled, scoring a run. Dahlem also came out of the bullpen, tossing three innings, allowing just one hit ans striking out six.

Monticello defeated St. Thomas More by the score of 13-11. Cole Basak (2027) went 3-for-5 in the game with three RBI and one run scored. Matthais Rudolph (2027) went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and four runs scored. WIth the win, the Sages move to an impressive 16-0 on the year.

Teutopolis defeated Dieterich by the score of 8-1. Nolan Schumacher earned the win on the mound, tossing five innings with six strikeouts, walking only one, allowing no earned runs and two hits. At the plate, Jason Kreke (2026; Kaskaskia JC) went 1-for-4 with a double, two RBI and one run scored.

East Peoria defeated Canton 12-1. Jackson Ahrens (2026; Kirkwood CC) went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, three RBI, four runs scored and two walks. RJ Duncheon (2026; Illinois State) went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a walk. On the mound, Dalton Oakman (2026) tossed a complete game with 13 strikeouts, one walk, one run and four hits allowed.

Galena defeated East Dubuque by the score of 14-8. Eli Studtmann (2028) went 4-for-4 with a home run, double, four RBI and two runs scored. Jacob Loso (2028) fired three innings in relief, struck out six, allowed two walks, no earned runs, and six hits.

Brimfield defeated Illini Bluffs by the score of 12-1. Connor Doe (2026) went a perfect 2-for-2 in the game with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Evan Patterson (2026) threw a complete game (5 IP) with 10 strikeouts, no earned runs and one hit allowed.

Tremont defeated Peoria Heights 13-0 in five innings. Hunter Smith (2026; Monmouth College) went 2-for-3 in the game with a double, five RBI and one run scored. Griffin Meeker (2026; Heartland CC) added two hits, one RBI and two runs scored. 10 hitters tallied a hit in the game.

Staunton defeated North Mac 6-5. RHP Braylen Brown (2027; Cincinnati) tossed six innings allowing one earned run on two hits with seven strikeouts. Cale Dugger (2028; 2-for-4, 2 RBI, SB), Kaiden Linkeman (2028; 2-for-2, 2B), and Logan Tuetken (2026; 1-for-3 2 RBI, walk-off single) led the offense in the win.

Mt. Vernon defeated Carbondale 10-0 in five innings. Ty Pierce (2026) went 2-for-4 in the game with a double and two RBI. Maxwell Nowak (2028) tossed a no-hitter (5 IP) with five strikeouts, only allowing two base runners on hit-by-pitches.

Breese Central came from behind and took down Freeburg 6-4. Kaden Henss (2027) led the way for the Cougars with the game-winning two-RBI single in the sixth inning. Miles Browne (2026) had a day himself with a perfect 3-for-3 including a double, two singles, a hit by pitch, two runs scored, and an RBI. Bryce Wieter (2026) hit an RBI single in this contest. Wieter started the game on the mound and delivered six innings and struck out eight and recorded the win. Miles Browne came on to close out the game and notch the save with a strikeout of his own.

Aurora Christian shut out St. Edward 10-0. The Eagles offense was led by Cristian Huerta (2026; St. Xavier Commit), who went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, three-run home run, stolen base, two runs scored, and four RBIs. Preston Morel (2027) went 2-for-3 with a single, two-RBI double, a walk, and a run scored. Noah Zappia (2028) and Noah Hensley (2026; Aurora Commit) both hit RBI singles in this contest. Hensley also recorded two stolen bases. Gavin Pesek stole three bags, which led the Eagles on the basepaths. Noah Zappia pitched four stellar shutout innings and struck out nine batters, which earned him the win.

Hersey held on to win against Barrington by the score of 8-6. The bottom of the sixth was where the important insurance runs came in. During the inning, in which the Huskies led 2-1 entering, Alan Mikuta, Damian Marcus (2026), and Mike Sokan (2026) all hit RBI singles (two-RBI for Sokan) to push across four of the six runs scored. John Schrenk pitched six strong innings and struck out seven to earn the win.

Ian Moore (2028; 2-for-4, RBI), Brandon Beasley (2027, Illinois State; 2-for-4, RBI), and Oliver Puntillo (2026; 3-for-3) led the Huskies' offense in the win. Grayson Waters (2027; W, 5 IP, 0 R, 4 H, BB, 4 K), Owyn Edwards (2026, Kenyon; IP, 0 H), and Cam Barnes (2026, Eastern Illinois; IP, K, BB) combined for the shutout.

Tucker Henry (2026) tossed a complete game on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while punching out five.

DuQuoin defeated Benton by the score of 4-1. Noah Siefert provided the spark for the Indians offense with a two-run home run. Max Maynor and Max Zimmerman (2027) both hit RBI doubles to contribute offensively in this contest. Zimmerman pitched six stellar innings, striking out ten batters and earning the win. Carter Miller locked down the contest by striking out two batters and recording the save.
