Today we are releasing our first update to the Virginia/DC Private School Top 10 that was released last week. Take a look at some notes on a few teams from inside the rankings.

  • Making the biggest move this week in the Private School Top 10 is St. Anne's-Belfield. The Saints have signature wins over Great Bridge, Bishop O'Connell, Walsingham, and Liberty Christian. Led by seniors Oscar Hickey (William & Mary) and Ryan Steeper (Washington & Lee), they put up a staggering 24 runs this weekend in the Commonwealth Classic. The Saints move from #5 in the Private School Top 10 to #2.

  • Making another move up is Bishop O'Connell. The Knights move up from #6 to #3 after a big win over Highland School, another ranked private school team. DJO scored 49 runs in four games and only gave up 10 total runs. A massive week from Bryant James (UVA) certainly pushed them through on some of those close games. James was 4-6 in the two games versus Highland and DeMatha (MD), including a homerun versus the Stags.

  • Two new teams enter the Private School Top 10. Gonzaga College HS makes their appearance at #8 and Collegiate comes in at #10.
    • Gonzaga is 9-3 as of 3/29 and has a quality win over St. John's. Senior left hander Tyler Majkowski dominated the Cadeys last Thursday. He threw 6.2 innings, allowed five hits, walked two, and struck out four. While the Eagles do have three losses, they do not have a single "bad loss" and all three of their losses they were extremely competitive versus opposing aces and had a chance to win all three.
    • While Collegiate certainly lost their share of firepower from 2025, Coach Slater always seems to have the Cougars in a good place every game. In six of their seven wins, Collegiate has not allowed more than three runs, which is a great recipe for success. While the offensive output was one of the big questions coming into the season, they have managed to run up 68 runs in their first eight games of the season. They have a really tough stretch of games this week that will certainly test the pitching staff.

    • Along with our Power 25 on Mondays, we will update our Private School Top 10 every Wednesday.
