2026 KSHSAA Player of the Week: Week 1

Eliott Wilk
Central Region Operations Director

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Prep Baseball KS Player of the Week. We will rely on submissions from high school coaches and others by way of email ([email protected]) or DM on X (twitter). Nominations should include player name, grad year, position, and stat line. The Kansas High School Player of the Week will be released every Tuesday afternoon. This week had nominations with some of the most impressive numbers we have ever seen, making the selection a difficult process. We will cover all players nominated for player of the week in our Diamond Notes article that comes out on Wednesdays.

Thank you to each high school coach who submitted a nomination for this week's awards.

Let's take a look at the Player of the Week for Week 1 (March 19th-29th):

Connor McCool INF / RHP / Shawnee Mission South, KS / 2027

The Future Games alum is off to a scorching start to his junior campaign, leading the No. 5 Raiders to a perfect 3-0 opening week, highlighted by a statement win over then-No. 11 Spring Hill. One of the state's top uncommitted prospects, McCool was a force on both sides of the ball, hitting a blistering .800 (8-for-10) with three doubles, a triple, a home run, and five RBIs while adding six runs scored and two stolen bases. On the mound, he slammed the door against Brandon Valley (SD), earning a two-inning save while striking out six and surrendering just a single hit.
