The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the Hawkeye State.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Cedar Rapids or Carroll at the IHSAA state tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

Each week we will be releasing our Power Rankings, Scout Blog, Diamond Notes, and Player of The Week, covering all the bases across the state of Iowa.

Saturday, May 23rd

NOTES:

+ Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s Danny Doyle was 5 for 7 over 2 games.  Collecting 2 singles, 2 triples and a home run driving in 4 RBI’s. 

+ Southeast Polks’s Alex Williams threw a 7 inning shut out allowing only 1 hit giving up 2 walks and striking out 11. 

+ Lewis Central’s Brooks Bond had 3 singles and 2 home runs while having 4 RBI’s and scoring 4 runs in a 2 game set. 

+ Iowa City High’s Adam Bowman had a strong outing throwing 6.1 innings, allowed 1 run on 3 hits while walking 0 and striking out 4.

+ Unity Christian’s Dylan Bosma went 6 innings gave up 1 hit, 2 walks and gave up 0 runs and striking out 9.
