NOTABLE RECAPS FROM THURSDAY

#7 Pleasant Grove (2) vs. #4 Maple Mountain (3)

In a high-stakes battle of state powerhouses, the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles (18–5) found redemption on their home turf, edging out Pleasant Grove (16–7) in a 3–2 thriller that snapped the Vikings' 11-game winning streak. Just one day after falling to Pleasant Grove on the road, the Golden Eagles leaned on a masterful performance from Kavyn Carter, who navigated six frames of high-tension baseball to keep the Vikings' potent lineup at bay. Pleasant Grove starter Keaton Nordick was practically untouchable in his brief outing, fanning five and surrendering zero hits over 2.2 innings, but the Golden Eagles capitalized on defensive miscues and critical free passes to manufacture just enough run support. While Crew Anderson provided a late spark for the Vikings with a towering solo home run, Tate Gilmore entered in the seventh to slam the door, striking out two and securing the save to salvage a split in this marquee Region 7 home-and-home series.

Top Performers

Carbon (7) vs. Morgan (8)

The Morgan Trojans outlasted Carbon in a back-and-forth offensive slugfest, securing a gritty 8–7 victory in a game that featured 23 combined hits. Morgan’s attack was paced by Kanyon Leonelli, who turned in a stellar three-hit performance with a double, while Easton Venz provided a dual-threat spark by driving in a run and battling through five innings on the mound to earn the win. The Dinos remained a threat throughout, fueled by a 3-for-4 afternoon from Cash Withers and a multi-hit effort from Jaxon Urbanik, but they struggled to find the knockout blow against Morgan's relief staff. Caleb Rhoades proved to be the difference-maker late, tossing two scoreless innings of relief to silence the Carbon bats and preserve the narrow lead. This win highlights the Trojans' ability to navigate high-leverage situations as they continue to cement their position as a postseason contender.

Top Performers

Kearns (1) vs. West Jordan (5)

The West Jordan Jaguars utilized efficient pitching and timely extra-base hits to secure a 5–1 victory over the Kearns Cougars. Austin Kesler was the anchor for West Jordan, tossing six dominant innings while surrendering zero earned runs and scattering just four hits to keep the Kearns offense at bay. The Jaguars' lineup found success in the gaps, receiving RBI doubles from Kekoa Wakley, Brock Litchfield, and Tyson Ashworth to build a steady lead. Kearns struggled to manufacture runs against Kesler, finding their lone spark in a pinch-hit RBI single from Lucas Grable and a gritty four-inning relief appearance by Cooper Drummond. Despite both teams struggling with defensive consistency—combining for seven total errors—Kaizen Marsing provided a clean final frame to seal the win and punctuate a disciplined performance from the Jaguars’ pitching staff.

Top Performers

Payson (9) vs. #19 Wasatch (5)

The Payson Lions delivered a resounding offensive response on the road, pounding out 16 hits to secure a 9–5 victory and salvage a season series split with the Wasatch Wasps. Following a lopsided shutout loss earlier in the week, the Lions' bats were electric from the jump, led by Brigzen Houser and Ty Marvin, who each launched home runs to set a blistering pace. Ruger Braithwaite and Cole Neves provided steady production in the middle of the order, combining for five hits and four RBIs to keep the pressure on the Wasatch staff. Despite a powerhouse display from the Wasps' Austin Brown, who cleared the fence twice, and a solo blast from Royal Matthews, the Wasatch lineup struggled to find a consistent rhythm against Bosten Roseman. Roseman was dominant on the mound, fanning 10 batters over five innings to earn the win and steer Payson to a crucial bounce-back victory in Region 7 play.
