The 2026 VA/DC high school season fully and officially kicked off on March 16th. We continue our weekly awards for a couple different areas, including today's featured Team of the Week. Team of the Week will run each and every Tuesday. This story will highlight a team that had a strong week, which usually includes at least one win over a Power 25/quality opponent.

Week 6 Team of the Week: Bishop O'Connell Knights

 

Bishop O'Connell had a five game week last week, coming out victorious in all five games. While there were not any real high profile wins, it was more so how they handled those games. In the first four games of the week, the Knights outscored opponents 34-3 in those first four games, while they had a close win on Saturday in their fifth and final game of the week. Before the season our staff pointed out the athleticism of this DJO team and that was on full display last week. The Knights swiped 35 bases last week, including 11 from Bryant James (UVA). While the offense hit .309 last week, it was the pitching staff that had the biggest week. They averaged 4.5 strikeouts per walk, while allowing only four earned runs over 34 innings of play. The staff also turned in a .824 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.
