Every week, coaches around the state submit their nominations for the Prep Baseball California Player of the Week for NorCal and SoCal. Week 9 Players of the Week honors went to Jayden Morales (Maranatha, 2028) and Evan Alexander (Harvard-Westlake, 2026). Morales had a massive week at the plate, going 12-for-16 (.750) with three doubles and a triple, including back-to-back games of 4-for-5 and 5-for-5. On the season, Morales is hitting .455 with 15 RBIs while posting a 6-1 record and a 1.24 ERA on the mound. Alexander delivered a complete-game shutout performance, allowing just one hit while striking out 11 in a win over Notre Dame. The Penn commit showed strong command and the ability to miss bats throughout the outing.
With several other impressive performances across the past week that were in the mix for both awards and deserve recognition, here is a rundown of some of the other standouts of the week. WEEK 9 DIAMOND NOTES
+ Will Grable, SS/RHP (Flintridge Prep, 2026) — Duke commit
Grable had an explosive week at the plate, going 6-for-8 across three games with three home runs, eight RBIs, four walks, and six runs scored, posting a .750 average and a 2.708 OPS. He consistently drove the offense and delivered in key moments. On the season, Grable is hitting .383 with a 1.248 OPS.
+ Logan Georges, P/DH (Clovis, 2026) — TCU commit
Georges delivered a complete-game shutout against Clovis North, throwing seven innings on just 87 pitches while allowing two hits and striking out five. He also contributed offensively with RBIs at the plate. On the season, Georges has thrown 34.2 innings with a 4-1 record, a 1.82 ERA, and 52 strikeouts.
+ Tucker Eddy, RHP (Bishop O’Dowd, 2026) — Johns Hopkins commit
Eddy was dominant on the mound, throwing five no-hit innings while striking out eight and walking three in a 1-0 win during league play. He controlled the outing and limited baserunners. On the season, Eddy holds a 2-1 record with 32 strikeouts over 19.1 innings.
+ Dimitri Williams, P/CF (Bishop O’Dowd, 2026) — BYU commit
Williams had a strong week on the mound, throwing across two appearances totaling five innings with 11 strikeouts, earning a win and a save. He struck out nine in one outing and added two more in a save situation. On the season, Williams is 5-0 with one save, a 0.67 ERA, and 46 strikeouts over 31.1 innings, while also contributing offensively with four home runs, five doubles, and three triples.
+ Daniel Stephan, P/1B (Irvington, 2027)
Stephan delivered a complete-game shutout against American, throwing seven innings while allowing three hits, striking out seven, and issuing no walks. He showed strong command throughout the outing. On the season, Stephan has thrown 35.1 innings with 32 strikeouts, six walks, and a .189 opponent batting average.
+ Braden Makley, RHP (Granada, 2027)
Makley turned in a dominant outing at Foothill, throwing 6.1 innings while allowing five hits, no runs, and striking out 10 with two walks to earn the win. He controlled the game throughout. On the season, Makley is 5-2 with a 0.83 ERA over 42 innings, totaling 54 strikeouts and just five walks.
+ Hugo Marks, RHP/DH (Washington-Fremont, 2026)
Marks continued his dominant stretch, throwing his seventh straight complete game while striking out nine and allowing just three infield hits. He also contributed offensively, going 1-for-3 with a run and a walk. On the season, Marks is 6-1 with a 0.86 ERA, recording 67 strikeouts with just five walks.
+ Ethan Williams, RHP (Los Gatos, 2026)
Williams tossed a no-hitter, throwing a complete game with seven innings, no hits, no walks, one hit batter, and 16 strikeouts. He was dominant from start to finish. On the season, Williams is 7-0 over 37 innings with 65 strikeouts, a 0.57 ERA, a 0.62 WHIP, and a .112 opponent batting average.
