WIAA Power 25 Update

Wisconsin Scouting Staff

Today, for the second time this spring, we’re updating the Prep Baseball Wisconsin Power 25 Rankings. The weather has been particularly unkind to us this season so far, so here’s to hoping we’re in store for some sun and warmth to wrap up April.

With another week in the books, our staff is updating the Power 25 after an eventful week of games. There is plenty of movement throughout, which can be found below - along with one new team in the mix.

WIAA HEADLINES

Let’s break down the movement inside our first Power 25 update of 2026. Two teams climbed into the rankings, and two teams fell out.

NEW LOOK TOP-10

+ No. 1 Hudson (12-0): Maintaining the top spot for a second consecutive week after a dominating 4-0 week, including an 8-0 win over previously No. 18 Madison Memorial and conference sweep on Menomonie. The lineup continues to produce at a high clip, getting production out of all nine guys in the lineup. The pitching staff is also a strength, anchored by Sam Abrahamson (2026 St. Thomas signee) and Mark Susa (2027) who have combined for one earned run and 40 strikeouts across 31.2 innings.

+ No. 2 Kimberly (6-1): Moving up six spots to No. 2 after what may be considered a signature win over No. 5 Sun Prairie East, putting a cap on a 3-1 week for the Papermakers. Falling to a quality No. 24 Fond du Lac team 7-2 on a Friday night conference matchup. Seniors Ryan Halfmann (Madison JC signee), Brady Merzlicker and Lex Knaebe have been standouts inside the lineup each hitting over .400 through the early part of the season. The top of the rotation hasn't given up an earned run through 28.2 innings to begin the year.

+ No. 3 Appleton North (7-1): The Lightning have not lost a game in Wisconsin and are another strong contender in the Fox Valley Association, going 3-0 on the week with a standout conference win over another Top-10 team No. 6 Hortonville. The offense has even outscored Wisconsin teams 51-14 along the way with numerous players up and down the lineup and the pitching staff has not only limited runs, opponents have had a hard time reaching base consistently against whatever arm is on the mound for North.

+ No. 4 New Berlin Eisenhower (6-3), No. 5 Sun Prairie East (7-3) & No. 7 Mukwonago (6-3): maintain their spots respectively. Ike continues to play a challenging schedule, going 3-1 on the week while dropping a close conference and Power 25 matchup against then ranked No. 15 Wisconsin Lutheran.
