Nevada - With the 2026 high school season officially underway, it’s time to recognize the standout performances that helped set the tone across the Silver State in the Opening Week.

Each week this spring, we will name an Nevada Player of the Week and Nevada Pitcher of the Week, honoring the top individual performances from around the state. These awards are based entirely on nominations submitted by high school coaches, highlighting the athletes who delivered when it mattered most during game action.

From dominant outings on the mound to explosive performances at the plate, Week 6 brought no shortage of impact performances. Now, it’s time to spotlight Week 6 honorees of the 2026 season.

Player of the Week Spotlight: Justin Rodrigues 

Bishop Gorman standout Justin Rodrigues reached a new level of dominance this past week, serving as the primary engine for a Gaels offense that put up 48 runs over three games. Rodrigues’ week was headlined by a career-defining performance on April 9th against Durango, where he went a perfect 5-for-5 with three home runs and 8 RBIs. His ability to punish mistakes was on full display throughout the week as he tallied 9 hits and 11 RBIs in just three contests, helping Bishop Gorman secure high-scoring victories over Durango and Snow Canyon.

Rodrigues’ season totals paint the picture of one of the most dangerous hitters in the country. Maintaining a .449 batting average over 91 plate appearances is a testament to his consistency, but it is his situational hitting and power that truly stand out. With 30 RBIs and 7 home runs on the season, Rodrigues has become the definitive "big game" performer for the Gaels. Franke was the definition of a workhorse, tossing 7.0 scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory. He kept the Bengals off-balance all afternoon, surrendering just four hits while racking up 7 strikeouts. Despite facing several high-leverage situations, Franke’s composure never wavered, needing exactly 100 pitches to shut out the Bonanza lineup and secure the most impressive win of his season to date.

Franke’s performance against Bonanza highlights a significant upward trend in his junior campaign. After navigating some early-season challenges, he has found his rhythm in league play, showing a remarkable ability to limit hard contact as evidenced by his .174 Opponent Batting Average in his most recent start.
