Prep Baseball Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week: Clay Maxam
April 8, 2026
West De Pere finished 2-1 on the week with a mix of in and out of state competition. One big factor on their trip to Indiana was sophomore right-hander Clay Maxam, coming off a dominant performance that resulted in a 8-0 victory over Mitchell (IN). For his efforts Maxam was named this week’s Pitcher of the Week.
Starting off the game with a seven pitch at-bat that ended in a strikeout before walking the next batter on four pitches. The right-hander would go on to retire the next 10 batters, working more efficiently, striking out the side in the second on nine pitches (seven whiffs). Maxam would go on to strikeout five more batters over the next two innings, earning his first win of the season.
Maxam, currently the No. 20 ranked player in the state and is an athletic and upside right-handed pitcher with a lively fastball and feel to spin a tight breaking ball in the zone. Operating mostly in the mid-80s now, it's easy to see more velocity gains down the line as he matures.
