Player of the Week Spotlight: Giovanni Guariglia
Silverado senior Giovanni Guariglia was an offensive juggernaut this past week, serving as a primary catalyst in the Skyhawks' current winning streak. Guariglia’s week was defined by elite run production, highlighted by a 4-RBI performance against Coronado. Throughout the week, he demonstrated a remarkable ability to find the gaps, recording six extra-base hits—including homeruns against Coronado (2), PAC and Spring Valley—while driving in a total of eight runs. His poise at the plate helped Silverado outscore their opponents significantly over their recent stretch.
Guariglia’s season totals reflect a player who has found his rhythm at the right time. He has now amassed 24 RBIs on the season, leading the team in that category. His power numbers are equally impressive, totaling 10 home runs and 5 doubles, contributing to a massive slugging percentage. Perhaps most impressive this week was his discipline; while his power is his calling card, he reached base at a high clip over his last few games, proving to be a versatile threat that opposing pitchers simply couldn't solve.
