Southern Indiana Preseason ID: Quick Hits
March 19, 2026
Our staff traveled to Silver Street Park in New Albany for our annual Southern Indiana Preseason ID. We saw nearly thirty prospects from the area as they participated in a showcase-style workout on the weekend before the IHSAA season gets underway. A large chunk of this roster showed clear college-level potential, and some of the top performers are highlighted below with scouting notes and video.

Quick Hits
+ '27 SS/RHP Boston Roberts (Silver Creek) showed well and left the event as a winner. He is athletic for a wiry, 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame. 6.98 runner. Up-tempo worker on the bump with loose, compact, slingy arm action. Fastball worked 86-87, touched 88, with average life and lackluster extension. He showed both a 72-74 SL and 74-76 CB, with the CB showing better than the slider. The CB leaves with average grades, and he also showed a 72-73 CH that he dropped slot on by over a foot. On the defensive side, he looked the part at short which appears to be his best overall attribute, with a 90 mph arm across. He did not hit at this event, but has shown a twitchy, contact oriented right-handed swing in the past. The arm, feet, and glove are clear tools for Roberts who holds two-way upside at the next level.

+ I like the movement patterns of ultra-athletic '27 CF Braylon Gray (Jeffersonville). He moves gracefully in everything he does, and turned in a 7-flat at this event, though the feet play much faster between the lines. Offensively, he sets up in a balanced, crouched stance and the stride works in-place as he repeats his swing consistently. It is a contact over power profile; found the barrel consistently in this look. In the outfield, Gray impressed our staff with tracking ability last spring, and showed fast feet and average arm strength at this event. 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame has ample room to add strength.

+ The batting practice round of '27 OF Gauge Sillings (Corydon Central) was loud as he flashed power throughout. Setting up with high hands in a narrow, open stance, Sillings worked behind the ball with a short, controlled stride as he showed well-above average bat speed within a more-linear operation. He averaged 91-plus throughout his round with middle-to-pull strength. The arm is an above average tool, as well, reaching 88 from the outfield. Average runner for the class and position; profiles as a power hitting RF at the college level.

+ Three more junior arms emerged as quality follows from the area in RHP Cash Thompson (Silver Creek), RHP Cash Waters (Jeffersonville), and RHP Preston Hart (Jeffersonville). We have the deepest track record on Thompson (clip below) of the bunch, an athletic, 6-foot, 160-pounder. An athletic mover who makes a slight drop-and-drive from an even balance point, Thompson's ability to manipulate the baseball for five shapes from the same slot is valued. His 4S worked 82-85, while his 2S climbed up to 14" of arm-side run at 82-84. There are two distinct breaking balls from the same slot, a 75-78 tight cutter/slider hybrid, and a upper-60s two-plane CB that averaged 2395 RPM. He showed a mid-70s split that looked the part of a usable offering, as well. Waters is one of the top returning arms for Jeffersonville this spring, and showed as a strikethrower. He works balanced throughout the delivery as his loose arm releases from a low 3/4 slot. His 82-84 fastball played with some sink, and he showed two usable secondaries that are at least average in a sweeping low-70s slider and a 72-74 change with arm-side fade. Finally, Hart showed some of the biggest upside of the bunch standing at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds. He rotates well within a simple delivery to power a loose, slingy arm to work with some speed to a 3/4 release. He created arm-side life and sink on a 82-84 mph heater, and his 73-74 mph change plays from a similiar slot and tunnels well off the FB. He showed a developing, low-70s gyro-slider that has upside, as well. Refining the breaking ball will pay dividends, and there is velocity left for Hart.

+ '28 INF Gideon Harris (Silver Creek) had a quality showing with definite projection to a young-for-class, 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame. The frame already holds some strength, and there is a real chance for more to come to elevate all tools. He took a mature round of batting practice with a balanced, more-downhill right-handed swing that reached an exit velocity peak of 93 mph. He looked fundamental on the infield with sure hands and proper footwork, and showed average arm strength across. He is an average runner at present, but has a chance to develop that tool further with maturity/strength.
‘28 INF Gideon Harris (@GideonHarris_) showed solid actions across the board.

+ '28 C Kingston Martin (Trinity, KY) is a solid follow from the bluegrass state who showed plenty of raw power for a sophomore. There is compact strength in the 5-foot-10, 186-pound frame as he loads into a strong launch before an aggressive forward move and violent uncoil. His exits reached 99-plus as he showed middle-to-pull power. An above average thrower, Martin turned in sub-2 pops while reaching 76 from the crouch.

+ '29 RHP Mason Baehl (Reitz) is a freshman arm that I left bullish on. Using a simple delivery with clean/loose arm action on the backside, Baehl pitched in the low-80s, touching 82, with carry properties to a fastball he controlled well. He spun a 68-70 mph breaking ball and showed a mid-70s change, both looking the part of usable offerings. The 6-foot, 160-pound frame projects well and he looks the part of a solid follow in the class and he could make jumps quickly.

+ Two players stood out most in batting practice with bat-first type looks in '27 OF/3B/RHP Christian McWilliams (Charlestown) and '28 3B/RHP Noah Mott (Providence). McWilliams (clip below), and XL, 6-foot-2, 200-pounder got off one explosive hack after another with event-best exit velocity at 103.6 mph. The bat speed is loud and he showed the ability to drive the ball to the big part of the field. He showed fringy actions on the infield and the run tool is an intriguing average, but the arm is a solid average tool, reaching 84 across the diamond, and touching 85 on his best bullet on the bump. Mott, a 6-foot-2, 210-pounder, worked from a connected handset as he turned behind the ball and showed bat strength to the tune of 97-plus peak exits. His damage was done more to the pull-side, and he also showed some arm strength as he reached 82 mph on the bump. The glove and run tools are still developing, but the strength that translates to the arm and bat hold some value.

+ An intriguing projection-type prospect was '27 OF/RHP AJ Seifert (Jeffersonville). Long-limbed with plenty of projection to the frame, Seifert showed twitchy bat speed as his exits went north-of 90 mph with a lot left in the tank. He is an above average runner at least, with solid average arm strength that translated to the mound, where he shows upside. Seifert used a balanced, simple delivery as he reached into the low-80s with his fastball and showed some feel to spin the baseball.

+ A pair of sophomores from Borden emerged as follows in 3B Jimmy McVoy and MIF Garrett Guldenschuh. McVoy (clip below) has made excellent strides since showing at Scout Day last fall, besting all of the metrics he turned in at that event. His 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame is more athletic, and stronger, than our last look. Taking one of the more consistent rounds of the day, McVoy's best ball left the bat at 94-plus, and he averaged 87 mph throughout the round. Showing sound actions at the hot-corner, McVoy reached 80 mph across, an average grade at this stage. The run tool is fringe-average, as well, but improved by 3-tenths of a second compared to last fall. Guldenschuh's metrics don't jump out, but he showed playable infield actions in the middle of the diamond, took a sound round of batting practice with upper-80s exits at peak, and projects to be at least an average runner once he reaches full maturity. While the metrics don't jump out, the actions do, and he should be able to show a playable glove/hit tool in game.
