2026 NY Preseason ID: West: Quick Hits

On Saturday, February 28th, the Prep Baseball New York staff hosted the 2026 NY Preseason ID: West at Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor, NY. Over 80 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in New York this upcoming spring.

We begin our post-event content today with our quick hits from the event, highlighting some of the notable players from the day and their numbers.

Two-Way Players

+ SS/RHP Brandon Speranza (Aquinas Institute, 2028):
Currently ranked No. 32 in the state’s 2028 class, Speranza is 6-foot, 175-pounds with present athleticism. Offensively, fluid hands and an uphill finish generated consistent loud contact with natural backspin and carry, touched 102 mph EV, averaged 93 mph and flashed a max distance of 384’. Defensively, shows an 87 MPH arm across the infield, which translates to the mound where the fastball gets up to 85 MPH with 21″ arm-side run, highlighting intriguing two-way potential.

+ OF/LHP Luke Golembiewski (Canisus, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 30 in the NY ‘28 class, The left-hander is a long, projectable 6-foot-3, 178-pound athlete with fluid actions. The hit tool stands out, featuring a smooth short-to-long swing (71% avg OPE) that produces gap-to-gap juice, reached 101 mph EVs with an average of 91 mph with clear projection for added power as he matures. A 6.99 runner with a 82 mph OF velocity. On the mound, touched 80 mph from the left side with sink and displayed a CH/CB combo.

+ SS/RHP Noah Deitz (Brighton, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 176, Dietz is a toolsy 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete with a strong all-around profile. Generates a heavy barrel through the zone, producing a 101 MPH peak EV and 368′ of carry. Adds value with a 6.96 60, quality glove work, and a plus 90 MPH arm across the diamond. On the mound, sat in the low-80s, topping at 85 mph with ASR and sink and flashed a tight slider with some higher spin in the low-70s.

+ RHP/3B Lucas Genareo (Southwestern Central, 2028):
Currently ranked No. 16 in the state’s sophomore class, a projectable 6-foot, 170-pound athlete with two-way upside. Fastball jumps through the zone with life and ride, reaching 90 MPH with 24″ IVB. Complements it with a two-tier slider and fading changeup. Offensively, shows a short, powerful stroke capable of producing big-time impact, highlighted by a 100 MPH peak EV. Also, tossed 88 mph across the diamond in his infield round.

+ RHP/OF Ryan McCoy (Baldwinsville, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 60 in the state’s junior class, a physical 6-foot-1, 205-pound two-way prospect with a power profile. Works from a low 3/4 slot, featuring a heavy 86–87 MPH fastball with 16″ of run, a sharp glove-side breaker with 21″ horizontal movement, and a heavy fading changeup. Offensively, displays strong barrel feel (84% OPE) with impact juice, highlighted by a 100 MPH peak EV and 90 MPH average. Led the event in OF velocity at 90 MPH.

+ C/RHP Julian Jackson (Jamestown, 2027):
Physical 5-foot-11, 190-pound primary catcher with a blend of speed and power, led the event with a 6.75 60-yard time. Offensively, the barrel is quick with bat speed up to 80 MPH yielding a 100 MPH peak exit velocity (92 mph avg). Defensively, shows a strong arm out of the crouch (82 MPH) that translates to the mound, where the fastball reaches 85 MPH, making him a true two-way contributor.

Pitchers

+ RHP Ryder Froman (Eastridge, 2027):
Currently ranked No. 86 in the state’s 2027 class, a projectable 6-foot, 175-pound pitcher with an electric, high-spin fastball that rides through the zone (85–86 MPH, 2365 RPM, 22.6″–24.7″ IVB), creating swing-and-miss potential. Pairs it with a sharp, lateral breaking slider (7.7″ HM) and a heavy, fading changeup (15″ HM), rounding out a well-balanced, high-upside 3-pitch mix.

+ RHP Nolan Russell (Webster-Schroeder, 2028):
Projectable 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with a long, athletic frame. Fastball sits 84–86 MPH with over 2350 RPM and 20″ of carry. Shows feel for a changeup at 70-74 MPH that plays off the FB with up to 18.6″ of arm-side fade, creating a quality two-pitch mix. An arm to follow in the sophomore class.

+ RHP Max Seaver (Webster Thomas, 2027):
Currency ranked No. 154 in the state’s junior class, Seaver shows advanced command of a three-pitch repertoire. Fastball sits up to 83-84 MPH with plus spin and movement (2200 RPM, 18″ IVB, 19″ HM). The slider is sharp (2400 RPM, 10″ HM), and the changeup tunnels effectively off the fastball at 75-76 mph. Demonstrates high-level pitchability with additional velocity projected.
