FROM MONDAY (3.9.26)
+ KOSCIUSKO VS MIZE
Mize defeated Kosciusko 5-4 on Monday after battling back from an early deficit. Kosciusko jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Mize responded and eventually tied the game in the fourth before taking the lead late. Mize’s pitching staff held strong down the stretch with key scoreless relief innings to secure the win. Kosciusko collected several hits and created pressure on the bases with multiple stolen bases but couldn’t hold on after the early lead.
+ LAKE CORMORANT VS NETTLETON
Nettleton defeated Lake Cormorant 6-4 on Monday after building an early lead and holding off a late push. Nettleton scored first in the opening inning and later extended the advantage to five runs before Lake Cormorant chipped away late to tighten the score. The pitching staff combined to limit the damage, including several scoreless relief innings to close out the win. Nettleton also showed patience at the plate with multiple walks and played clean defense to help secure the victory.
+ JACKSON PREP VS OCEAN SPRINGS
Ocean Springs defeated Jackson Prep 2-1 on Monday in a tightly contested pitcher’s duel. Ocean Springs scored in the first inning on an RBI single and added another run in the third on a double to build the lead. The pitching staff limited Jackson Prep to just a few hits while combining for strong innings on the mound to secure the win. Jackson Prep threatened with several walks and a handful of hits but couldn’t overcome Ocean Springs’ early scoring.
+ PICAYUNE VS KOSSUTH
Picayune fell to Kossuth 5-4 on Monday despite out-hitting the Aggies seven to five. Picayune scored first in the opening inning and later took the lead in the second with a three-run home run to move ahead 4-2. Kossuth answered with key home runs of its own, including the go-ahead blast in the fifth inning that ultimately proved to be the difference. Picayune collected several hits and kept pressure on the offense but couldn’t regain the lead late.
+ STARKVILLE VS GULFPORT
Gulfport walked off Starkville 10-9 on Monday in a wild back-and-forth game at Herbert Wilson Stadium. Starkville built an early lead, but Gulfport answered with a six-run second inning to swing momentum. Starkville mounted a huge comeback in the seventh, scoring seven runs to tie the game at nine, but Gulfport responded in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly to seal the walk-off win. Starkville finished with 10 hits in the game, while Gulfport showed patience at the plate with multiple walks to help fuel the victory.
