The Top 5

The Top 5 has once again undergone some changes after the second week of the high school season, which includes a new #1 team with Barbe. The Bucs went 5-0 last week to push their overall record to 9-1. Senior J.D. Alexander hit two home runs last week and also tossed a complete-game shutout with 9 strikeouts against Brenham (TX) on Saturday.

Sam Houston went 3-1 last week and check in at the #2 spot in this week's update. The Broncos beat E.D. White on Mardi Gras last Tuesday, before taking two of three on the road against Mandeville.

Catholic BR stays put at #3 in this update after winning all four of their games last week to remain undefeated. Sophomore Reis Wascom threw 6.2 innings of no-hit baseball to lead Catholic BR to the win last week over Covenant Christian.

Jesuit continues to climb up the rankings and they move up another four spots this week to #4. The Blue Jays picked up wins over Archbishop Hannan, Denham Spring, and St. Amant last week to improve their season record to 7-0.

John Curtis Christian moves up in this update as well to the #5 spot. The Patriots beat St. Paul's last Monday before heading up to the Trey Altick Classic tournament, where they picked up wins over Parkway, University Lab, and defending Non-Select Division II State Champion North DeSoto.

Risers

+ Zachary moves into the Top-10 after going 2-1 last week.  The Broncos beat Sulphur and Pearl River Central (MS), and their lone loss was a close two run game against #1 ranked Barbe. Senior Noah Sullivan tossed a complete-game last Thursday against Sulphur and allowed only 1 earned run on 4 hits with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.

+ Destrehan made arguably the biggest statement of Week 2, as they picked up four wins to improve their season record to 8-1. The Wildcats beat West Ouachita, West Monroe, Lafayette Christian, and Loyola College Prep at the Trey Altick Classic tournament. Junior Chase Marcotte went 5-for-11 (.455) with 5 doubles and 6 runs batted in. Marcotte also picked up the win on the mound against West Monroe after tossing 6.1 innings and allowing only 2 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.

+ Acadiana also had a monster second week and enter our Power 25 Rankings for the first time this season at the #18 spot. The Rams beat Iowa last Monday and then swept Northshore on the road, while outscoring the Panthers 24 runs to 2.
