The high school baseball season is officially underway. This is our favorite time of the year and we can’t wait to cover the state from now until the state championship. Be sure to to be tuned in daily for content on the season.

Everything high school baseball related will be on the GHSA tab on our website. It can be found HERE. This will include the Power 25, Classification Rankings, weekly scout blogs and more.

Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

Wednesday

Paideia @ Midtown

Score: Tie, 4-4

Standouts:

Sam Dempsey, RHP, 2027, Midtown

John Brennan, C, 2029, Midtown

Colin Thomas, RHP, 2026, Paideia

Calvin Jardina, C, 2026, Paideia

Key Moments:

It was a slow start for both offenses as both starting pitchers were locked in early on. A 2-RBI knock from 2026 C Calvin Jardina would open the scoring as Paideia jumped on top in the 3rd 2-0. A couple defensive miscues and walks led to a final score of 4-4 as it was a strong night for both pitching staffs.

Avery’s Takeaway:

Both starters have valuable innings for their respective squads. As Emory commit 2026 RHP Colin Thomas struck out 9 across 5.0 IP for Paideia. 2027 RHP Sam Dempsey showed pitchability as he struck out 7 across 4.0 IP as well as adding a hit for Midtown. 2026 C Calvin Jardina came through with a clutch 2-RBI knock in the 3rd, 2027 1B Cade Goodmark and 2027 3B Nick Bruce were other standouts in the lineup for the Pythons. Upperclassmen 2027 OF Kingston Glover and 2026 SS Lyndon Williams swung it well and took good at-bats throughout the night. It was a polished look at 2029 C John Brennan both in the box and defensively. Took mature at-bats across the evening while boasting a strong defensive makeup behind the plate to match.

Fellowship Christian @ Pace

Score: 3-1

Standouts:

Will Bracken, RHP, 2028, Fellowship Christian

James Sharp, 3B, 2027, Fellowship Christian

Coe Puckett, C, 2027, Fellowship Christian

Braden Burroughs, OF, 2028, Fellowship Christian

Key Moments:

Trummie Patrick found a barrel early in the game for an RBI, and from there the Fellowship pitching handled the rest. Will Bracken set the tone with the start followed by a strong relief appearance from Dylan Ivkovich and the close by Eli Latora. James Sharp paced the offense with 2 hits and 2 big plays in the field that were key outs.

Hudson’s Takeaways:

This match up featured a wide variety of talent from uncommitted seniors to up and coming freshmen. The Paladins have been one of the younger teams in the state the last few years and now they have juniors that have started for 3 years ready to make some noise this spring. Pace Academy is the same way with a few sophomores and freshmen in the line up. After a committed senior they brought in a couple of sophomores in relief that should give them a ton of innings this spring.

Harrison @ North Paulding

Score: North Paulding, 7-6

Standouts:

Colin White, LHP, 2026, Harrison

Logan Arnett, C, 2028, Harrison

Bryce Lee, 1B, 2027, North Paulding

Lawson Sheffield, 3B, 2026, North Paulding

Skyler Lee, C, 2027, North Paulding

Marcus Labouchere, OF, 2027, Harrison

Breck Hemphill, OF, 2028, Harrison

Key Moments:

Hoyas jumped out to an early lead thanks to a Breck Hemphill RBI 1B followed by Logan Arnett with a no-doubt HR to LF for the 3-0 lead after one. After bats went cold on both sides in the middle innings, North Paulding stormed back to tie it in the 5th with RBI knocks from both Skyler Lee and Bryce Lee. Back-and-forth over the last few innings until J.R Hoffman drove a ball deep to RF for a sac fly that led to a throwaway at 3B, which brought home the winning run in a chaotic ending and big-time win for the Wolfpack.

Ian’s Takeaways:

Exactly what you’d want out of an early season Power 25 matchup with both sides showing why they deserve the preseason expectations. Recent Super 60 standout LHP Colin White was explosive early, up to 95 while showing the swing-and-miss SL at will. Young bats for Harrison looked the part early. Impact sophomores in Breck Hemphill and Logan Arnett will be massive bats in this lineup with Aiden Watson already stepping into the leadoff spot as well. Uncommitted 2027 outfielders in Marcus Labouchere and Alex Ehlenbach looked electric on both sides and give this outfield tremendous speed. Grittiness shown in all facets for North Paulding. Veteran seniors in Cade Cox, Lawson Sheffield, and Casey O’Brien were huge in the right moments with big RBI knocks. A pair of uncommitted juniors in Skyler Lee and Bryce Lee bring strong bat-to-ball skills that showed very well with a combined 5 hits between the duo.
