IHSA Diamond Notes: Week 2
April 1, 2026

Each week, IHSA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week and Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week honors. Yesterday, we awarded the Week 2 Player of the Week honor to SS Jacsen Tucker (Oswego East, 2027; Oklahoma State) and the Pitcher of the Week honor to RHP Simon Rose (Highland Park, 2027). Tucker went 7-for-15 while swatting three home runs with a double, nine RBI, seven runs scored a walk and four stolen bases. Tucker also set a school record for career home runs. Rose tossed 6.1 innings, allowing only three hits, one walk and he tallied 15 strikeouts. In the first inning of the game, Rose fired an immaculate inning.
There were a number of other impressive performances that were in the mix for the award and deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable.
