NOTABLE TEAMS IN WEEK 3 MOVING UP 📈

Spanish Fork

The Spanish Fork Dons (10-0) have been the model of consistency and dominance to open the 2026 season, cementing their status as the team to beat in the 5A Class. Their perfect start is highlighted by high-profile victories over perennial powerhouses like Snow Canyon and Dixie, the latter featuring a career-best 16-strikeout performance from TCU commit Kayden Lambson. The Dons' offense has been equally relentless, with Trigg Cloward, Matai Johnson, and Pratt Morley providing consistent power and run production, evidenced by their double-digit scoring outbursts against Salem Hills and Viewmont. With a deep pitching staff that has yet to blink and a lineup that executes in clutch situations, Spanish Fork enters the heart of their schedule with all the momentum of a legitimate state title favorite.

Lone Peak

The Lone Peak Knights (8-0) have stormed out of the gates as a legit contender in the 6A Class, maintaining a flawless record through a tough opening stretch of the 2026 season. Their early-season dominance was punctuated by a statement 6-1 victory over Pleasant Grove, a game where Korver Curtis smothered the Vikings' bats and Kingston Stroshine provided the offensive spark with two RBIs and a stolen base. Led by a veteran core of collegiate commits, including SLCC-bound standouts Landon Fry and Grady Slesk, the Knights' pitching staff has been nearly untouchable. At the plate, Fry’s scorching .565 batting average and Boston Walkenhorst’s team-leading power have kept opposing staffs on their heels, while the elite defensive play of Dallin Scharmann (CSI) and Bo Barnes (CSI) provides a reliable safety net. As they transition into the heart of the schedule, Lone Peak’s blend of high-end velocity and balanced scoring makes them a clear contender for the 6A state title.

Timpanogos

The Timpanogos Timberwolves (9-1) have established themselves as a dominant force in the 4A Class, parlaying a high-powered offense and elite pitching into one of the best starts in the state. Their only blemish came in a narrow 3-1 loss to 6A powerhouse American Fork, but the Timberwolves have since bounced back with five consecutive wins, including high-profile victories over Bear River and Salem Hills. Senior standout Cooper Hawkes has been a statistical juggernaut, leading the team with a blistering .571 average and two home runs, while junior infielder Crew Peterson and sophomore Eli Story have provided consistent spark-plug production. On the mound, the rotation has been clinical, headlined by junior Corbin Hardy who has already racked up 29 strikeouts in the young season. With legendary coach Kim Nelson at the helm and a roster firing on all cylinders, Timpanogos looks every bit the part of a championship contender.

Skyridge

The Skyridge Falcons (5-1) have proven they can navigate high-pressure situations, starting the 2026 season with a string of grit-testing victories. After a dominant 6-1 home opener against Layton, the Falcons showcased their resilience with three consecutive one-run wins, including a thrilling 13-12 marathon against Mount St. Mary and a 7-6 nail-biter over the Boulder Panthers. Offensively, Zayden Bye has been the heartbeat of the lineup, racking up seven RBIs over two games in Arizona, while Ripken Roberts has been a constant threat on the basepaths, tallying three stolen bases and three runs in a single outing. On the mound, the staff has shown depth with Tate Young and L. Robley picking up crucial early-season wins. Though their perfect start was recently snapped in a tough 9-1 loss to Arizona powerhouse Chandler, Skyridge remains one of the most dangerous 6A programs in the state, entering region play with a battle-tested roster and a knack for winning the close ones.

Bear River

The Bear River Bears (9-1) have dominated the early 2026 season, asserting themselves as a clear frontrunner in Class 4A with a balanced attack and a ten-game home winning streak dating back to last spring. Aside from a narrow stumble against 4A powerhouse Timpanogos, the Bears have been nearly flawless, racking up lopsided victories over Bountiful, Park City, and a statement 14-4 win over Grantsville. Senior ace and Walla Walla CC commit Ethan Higgs has been a force on both sides of the ball, recently posting a career-high nine strikeouts on the mound while maintaining a heavy presence in the heart of the lineup. The offensive production has been surgical, led by Chipper Hawes, who recently turned in a perfect 4-for-4 performance, and the blazing speed of Jackson Barfuss, who has terrorized opposing catchers on the basepaths. With a pitching staff surrendering just 3.0 runs per game and an offense consistently posting elite on-base percentages, Bear River enters region play with the look of a team destined for a deep postseason run.
