NOTABLE RECAPS FROM WEDNESDAY
#25 Davis (13) vs. Viewmont (3)
The Davis Darts offense exploded in a mid-week showdown, cruising to a 13–3 victory over Viewmont. Davis utilized a massive 10-run inning to put the game out of reach early, fueled by a multi-hit performance from Moody, who drove in three runs. T. Jensen provided extra-base power with a triple and scored twice, while the Darts' disciplined approach at the plate forced several early pitching changes for the Vikings. Viewmont saw a bright spot from Cash Stump, who collected a double and an RBI, but the Vikings were unable to slow down a #25 Davis squad that appears to be finding its offensive stride as the first week of the season progresses.
#2 Spanish Fork (8) vs. Skyline (3)
The Spanish Fork Dons continued their strong start to the 2026 campaign with an 8–3 win over Skyline. Junior standout Pratt Morley set the tone for the #2 ranked Dons, finishing the day with three hits and two runs scored. Spanish Fork's pitching staff, led by a sharp outing from Rhett Walburger, effectively neutralized the Skyline threats throughout the afternoon. Skyline managed to plate three runs and showed defensive grit, but the Dons' depth in the lineup proved too much to handle in the late innings. Spanish Fork looked the part, solidifying their spot near the top of the state rankings.
Timpview (1) vs. #22 Provo (2)
In a dramatic crosstown rivalry game, the Provo Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a 2–1 victory over Timpview. For the second consecutive game, #22 Provo relied on elite pitching and a "just enough" offensive approach to secure a win. The Bulldogs' staff combined for a dominant performance, limiting the Thunderbirds to just one run on the afternoon. Timpview's Will Cannon provided the game's biggest highlight for the visitors, launching a solo home run, but Provo responded with timely hitting to move to 2-0 on the season. This marks the fifth straight home victory for the Bulldogs dating back to last spring.
Woods Cross (4) vs. #23 West Field (7)
The West Field Varsity Longhorns displayed incredible heart and offensive power to secure a gritty 7–4 victory over Woods Cross. The charge was spearheaded by Wyatt Penrod, who was absolutely untouchable at the plate, racking up four hits and two triples for a total of eight bases. Samuel Smith also came through in a big way, doubling in two runs and striking out nine batters during his start, while Grady Garrett added two hits to keep the momentum swinging in West Field's favor. Woods Cross put up a brave fight behind a home run from James Hallows and strong hits from Beckham Stanger and Porter Sudbury, but the Longhorns' bullpen was locked in; Ricardo Rodriguez earned the win with two stellar innings and Marshal Moon closed the door with a perfect final frame. It was a total team effort that showcased West Field’s resilience and ability to finish strong under pressure.
