Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

Wednesday

St. Pius X @ Denmark
Score: Denmark win, 7-4
Standouts:

Daniel Biondo, 3B, 2027, Denmark

Geno Goralski, OF, 2026, Denmark

Royce Woodson, C, 2026, St.Pius X

Nolan Newsham, OF, 2027, St.Pius X

Easton Bailey, 3B, 2026, St. Pius X

Key moments:
The Danes jumped out to an early lead behind a Daniel Biondo solo HR in the first. But the offense was cold from there as they took advantage of errors and walks to scratch across a few more. Muli-hit games from 2027 OF Nolan Newsham and 2026 C Royce Woodson along with a huge 2 RBI double from 2026 3B Easton Bailey powered the Golden Lions offense as it was tied at 4-4 in the 6th. 2026 OF Geno Goralski came through in a massive way in the bottom of the 6th with a clutch 2 RBI knock to make it 6-4, where he would later come around to score and make it 7-4 finish as the Danes escaped a jam in the top half of the 7th.

Avery’s Takeaway: This was a good early season matchup for both squads before region play gets going. The Golden Lions put up a fight and will have confidence on any given night behind a strong lineup. With a stout upperclass group leading the way. On paper, the Danes have one of the deepest rosters and appear a threat to make a run if everything comes together.

Ringgold @ Pickens

Score: Pickens win, 9-0

Standouts:

A.J. Rice, RHP/SS, 2026, Pickens

Jennings Allen, SS, 2027, Pickens

Everett Grubbs, 3B/RHP, 2027, Pickens

Christian Starks, 2B, 2026, Pickens

Kamden Jenkins, C, 2026, Pickens

Key Moments: A.J. Rice was doing A.J. Rice things early by setting the tone and picking up the first 9 outs via strikeout. The Auburn commit was dominant throughout, going 5.0 no-hit IP with 12 K overall. SS Jennings Allen came through constantly throughout the night with an RBI 1B in the 1st to open the score and then added two more RBI knocks later to expand the lead and finish with a 4 RBI night.

Ian’s Takeaway: Pickens is making an early statement this spring as one of the top teams in 3A once again. 8-0 over the first few weeks while out scoring teams by 75 runs over that span. The bat-to-ball skills throughout this lineup is impressive with very little chase from 1-9. When you have a top-of-the-order guy like Jennings Allen in the 7 hole, it’s a premium few can offer and it puts constant pressure on teams. A.J. Rice is one of the top RHP in the state for good reason and gives this team a tremendous chance to win every time he steps on the mound. There’s some young pieces earning their stripes including high-upside sophomore OF Truitt Grubbs, who continues to push for starts on a very-upperclass heavy squad. Coach Williams has this team believing in each other and the results speak for themselves, it will be fun to see how the spring unfolds for the Dragons.
