The Prep Baseball California High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a California high school player from the previous week. Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week. If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays.
While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.
WEEK 8 PITCHER OF THE WEEK
2027 LHP Kyle Sweeney, Sacred Heart Prep - Notre Dame Commit
2027 LHP Kyle Sweeney of Sacred Heart Prep has been lights out this season and last week was one of his most impressive starts of the season. As a result, Sweeney has been named the Prep Baseball California Week 8 Pitcher of the Week.
In his last start Sweeney, a Notre Dame commit, threw six scoreless innings allowing just two hits, zero walks, zero earned runs and struck out 12 batters on just 82 pitches. It was one of his most efficient and sterling stars of the season as the Gators improved to 11-4 on the season.
The 6’4” 185lb. Southpaw has been masterful all season for Sacred Heart Prep over his 24 innings pitched. Sweeney has a perfect 5-0 record with 44 strikeouts while allowing just eight hits and two earned runs in those starts. He is currently sporting a 0.58 ERA on the season.
