Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 2 Normal Community routed Danville 16-3. Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati Commit) led the Ironmen offense by going 2-for-3 with a single, three-run home run, hit by pitch, stolen base, four runs, and three RBIs. Gavin Swartz (2026; Indiana Commit) went 2-for-2 with a double, single, and two RBIs. Beckett Weber (2026) came in for Swartz and hit a two-RBI triple as his only hit of the game. Owen Knox (2027) hit a two-run inside-the-park home run to knock in two RBIs. Drew Stevens (2026; Valparaiso Commit) was another key player as well when he hit an RBI double while scoring three runs for the Ironmen. Chase Hendren (2026) pitched three innings and struck out five. Owen Weaver shut down the Danville offense in his two-inning relief outing and struck out two while only giving up a hit.

No. 4 Huntley came from behind and defeated Dundee-Crown 4-2. Nate Larson (2027) had a phenomenal start by dealing five innings and striking out ten batters. Josh Rudnick (2026; McHenry County JC Commit) got the win in relief after throwing three innings and striking out two, while Travis Dudycha (2026; Heartland CC Commit) got the save by pitching the ninth inning to close out the game with no runs allowed. After the Red Raiders offense got shut out for the first six innings, they came in clutch for the seventh. Gavin Rettberg (2026) put the Red Raiders on the board with an RBI single, and then Drew Borkowski (2026; Heartland CC Commit) drew a bases-loaded walk while he was down to the final strike to tie the game at two. Then, in the ninth inning, Rettburg hit the go-ahead solo home run that proved to be the game-winner.

No. 5 Libertyville defeated Lake Zurich 4-2. The Wildcats offense was led by Carson Holmes, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI singles. Weston Wyzukovicz knocked in an RBI single of his own. Chase Lockwood pitched a complete game and struck out five batters.

No. 7 Lockport took down No. 24 Sandburg 6-1 in Illinois's Power 25 matchup. Another day, another homer for Adam Kozak (2026; Lewis Commit) as he led the Porters offense with an RBI double and a two-run home run. Zack Skrzypiec (2026) hit an RBI fielder's choice, Frank Covelli (2027) an RBI double, and Drew Satunas collected an RBI single for this contest. Austin Winge (2027) took it the distance on the mound with a complete game, in which he struck out five batters while only giving up one hit.

No. 8 Triad defeated Highland 12-5. Keegan Seipp (2027; Xavier Commit) led the way for the Knights by going 2-for-2 with a double, two-run home run, sacrifice fly, walk, stolen base, run, and three RBIs. Braxton Yates (2026; Lewis & Clark CC Commit) went 2-for-3 with a double, single, walk, run, and two RBIs. Nathan Klucker (2027) went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. Carter Gaskil (2026; UI-Springfield Commit) had the lead-off home run to start the day for the Knights. Nolan Keller (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) pitched a quality start by tossing five innings and striking out six batters.

Deerfield took down No. 9 New Trier 5-2. Will Swender (2026; Rochester) threw 4.1 innings with two earned runs to notch the win. Jesse Feldman (2026) was dominant in relief with 2.2 scoreless innings, earning the save. Alex Edgar (2027) (3 RBI, HR) and Jack Agran (2027) (2B, 2R) both had two hits on the day. For New Trier, Jackie Ryder (2027) went deep for New Trier with a solo home run while also collecting a single. Chase Estrada (2029) hit a sacrifice fly to knock in his RBI. Greg Campitelli (2026; Augustana Commit) pitched the whole game throwing six innings and striking out five batters.

No. 10 Mount Carmel defeated Saint Ignatius College Prep 12-1. Joey Ireland (2026; Illinois Commit) led the Caravan offense by going 2-for-4 with a single and a grand slam, which knocked in a total of five RBIs. Owen Morgan (2027) was also a key player by going 2-for-3 with two singles (including a two-run single), a run, and four RBIs. Ian Tosi (2026; Miami Commit) tossed 2.2 innings and struck out three while Cylis Rainey (2029) tossed 2.1 scoreless frames and struck out two.

No. 11 Brother Rice shut out Aurora Central Catholic 15-0. Brady Cunningham (2027; Texas A&M Commit) led the Crusaders offense by going 2-for-2 with a single, three-run home run, hit by pitch, two stolen bases, three runs scored, and four RBIs. Brent Nevils (2026; Xavier (LA) Commit) came off the bench and hit a grand slam. Gavin Stanislawski (2027) also joined in on the long ball with his two-run home run. Luca Agne (2027) knocked in a pair of RBIs on his two-run double. Austin Mrskos (2026) pitched a four-inning complete game shutout and struck out three batters.

Marist took down No. 13 Nazareth Academy 4-1. Connor McKay (2026) started for the Roadrunners and delivered 4.1 innings and struck out six batters. For Marist, they were led by Ryan Lawlor (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit) who collected a double and two singles while driving in two RBIs. Tom Hosty (2027) hit an RBI double for this contest. Collin Lawlor (2028) pitched a complete game and struck out five batters.

No. 15 St. Joseph-Ogden took down Pontiac 11-1. Bryson Houchens homered and collected his 13th career home run to become the career leader at St. Joseph-Ogden.

No. 16 Mascoutah shut out Jersey 7-0. Gabe James (2027) led the Indians offense by going 2-for-3 with a triple, single, walk, stolen base, run scored, and three RBIs. Carson Moll (2026; Rend Lake JC Commit) went 2-for-3 with two singles, a walk, run scored, and an RBI. Quinn Ford (2026) went 2-for-3 with a double, single, two runs scored, and an RBI. Darren Klein (2027) pitched a complete game one-hit shutout and struck out six batters.

No. 18 Homewood-Flossmoor came from behind to beat Bradley-Bourbonnais 8-7. Antonio Brown Jr. (2026; Purdue-Northwest Commit) started the first three innings and struck out five batters. Cormac Saunders (2026) threw 2.2 innings and struck out six and got the win in relief. The Vikings put up a five spot in the sixth inning. Marcos Morales (2027) grounded into a fielder's choice to knock in his RBI of the game. Michael Watson, who went 2-for-2 in this contest, brought the deficit even closer with his two-RBI double. Then, Watson scored the tying run on a wild pitch before Evan Bradford (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) scored the winning run on an error. Bradford also collected three stolen bases.

No. 20 Lemont put a beat down on hillcrest 20-0. The offense got it done in two innings and scored ten runs per inning. Luke Marusarz (2027), Zane Schneider (2027), and Sam Sulzberger (2027) each knocked in four RBIs. Marusarz went 2-for-3 with a two-run double, two-run home run, a hit by pitch, and three runs scored. Schneider went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a three-run home run, stolen base, and three runs scored. Sam Sulzberger went 2-for-3 with an RBI single, a bases-clearing double, stolen base, and two runs scored. Carson Caruso (2026) pitched two no-hit innings and struck out five while only giving up two walks.

No. 21 Normal University shut out Rochester 11-0. Bodey Klemmensen (2026) and Landon Beckman (2027) tallied a combined seven RBIs on their home runs. Klemmsensen had the grand slam and Beckman had the three-run home run. Wes Thompson (2028) and Chenzo Cottone (2026) each collected an RBI respectively; Thompson with a bases-loaded hit by pitch and Cottone with a bases-loaded walk. Cade Cunningham (2026) pitched a strong quality start by tossing six innings and striking out 11 batters.

No. 22 Lincoln-Way West took down No. 3 Lincoln-Way East 3-1 in Illinois's Power 25 matchup. Jackson Mansker (2026; Indianapolis Commit) led the Warriors offense by going 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a reach on error, which knocked in two RBIs. Jacob Howard (2027) blasted a solo home run to push across an insurance run in the sixth inning. Kellen Schulte (2026; Missouri Southern Commit) pitched a complete game and struck out six batters. For Lincoln-Way East, Cooper Johnson (2027; Purdue Commit) tossed 5.1 innings and struck out five batters.

No. 23 McHenry defeated Crystal Lake South 5-0 to complete the two game conference sweep. Kaden Wasniewski (2027; Louisiana State) got it done on both sides of the ball in the conest. On the mound, Wasniewski went six scoreless, allowing just two hits and no runs, while striking out five. At the plate, he added a two run HR and two runs scored. Landon Clements (2027; Illinois-Chicago) collected two hits, including a HR, two RBI, and two runs scored to power the Warriors offense. Carson Trivellini (2027; Illinois) and Wes Bodga (2028) collected a hit for the Gators. Julian Redmond (2026; Oakton CC) looked sharp on the mound for the Gators going four hitless innings, allowing an unearned run and striking out five.

Brimfield defeated Peoria Heights by the score of 11-1 in five innings. Kaeden Schatsiek (2026; Illinois State) went 1-for-1 in the game with two RBI and one run scored. On the mound, Sean Crowe (2026) tossed two perfect innings tallying six strikeouts, and Blake Bruner (2027) tallied three punchouts in one inning of relief. Kai Nelson (2028) closed the game out with five strikeouts, one walk and one hit allowed.

Dunlap defeated Limestone by the score of 2-1 on a walkoff home run from Eli Michanicou (2027). Carter Lippens (2027) tossed 5.1 innings on the mound with four strikeouts, two walks, no earned runs and one hit allowed. For Limestone, Gavin Klecker (2027) threw 5.2 innings pitched with six strikeouts, one walk, no earned runs and two hits allowed.

East Peoria defeated Canton by the score of 11-1, scoring nine runs in the bottom of the sixth. RJ Duncheon (2026; Illinois State) was dominant on the mound, tossing a complete game (6 IP) with 14 strikeouts, no walks, one earned run and three hits. At the plate, Jackson Ahrens (2026; Kirkwood CC) went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Auggie Lohnes (2026; Illinois Central JC) added a home run with one RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Jordan Marsh (2026) went 2-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.

Monticello defeated Prairie Central by the score of 9-3, moving to 15-0 on the season. Koyie Williams (2026) went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI, two runs scored with a walk. Cole Basak (2027) added a pair of hits, one being a double, with one RBI and two runs scored, while Jake Motsegood (2027) added two hits, two RBI and one run scored.

Burlington Central defeated Cary-Grove 11-6. Wagner Viebrock (2027; 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R), Jaxton Bovee (2028; 2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI, R, BB) and David Hintz (2027; 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) led the Rockets offense. Daniel Koertgen (2027) was sharp in relief, going three scoreless innings and striking out five. Mason Klimek (2028) was 3-for-3 with a run scored for the Trojans.

RHP Noah Edison (2026; Olivet Nazarene) earned the win, striking out 10 over five innings and allowing four base hits. Jory Crocker (2026, Arizona) worked two clean innings with three strikeouts for the save as Willowbrook shut out Hinsdale South 3-0. RF Tommy Roelle (2026) was 2-for-3 with a double for the Warriors (9-4).

Reavis took down Evergreen Park 7-3. Robert Soto fired a gem on the mound with 6.2 innings, striking out eight with two earned runs - also walking three times at the plate with two runs scored and a stolen base. Michael Mendez threw it well to notch the save, striking out one in his inning of work - also going 1-for-3 with a double, run scored and a walk. Johnny Liesen went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two stolen bases. Parker Zasada went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two stolen bases. Julian Rodriguez homered and collected two RBIs - while Anthony Perez added a single, three walks and a run scored.

Bartlett took down Aurora East 13-3 behind Mason Leiterman’s two HRs. Leiterman (2029) was 2-for-2 with four RBI and three runs scored. Josh Coalizzi (2026; McHenry County JC) chipped in with two hits including a 2B, two RBI, and three runs scored. Vince Yario (2026; Harper JC) had a big day going 3-for-3 with a 2B and 3 RBI at the plate, as well as 2.2 innings on the mound, allowing three hits and no earned runs, while striking out six.

Champaign Central defeated Richwoods by the score of 5-3. Ryan Pipkins (2028) had a strong overall day, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. At the plate, he tossed 6.1 innings with 11 strikeouts, one walk, three earned runs, and five hits allowed. John Timmons (2027) went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and a walk, and Tre Cole (2026; Wright State) added a double and one RBI.

Shepard took down Blue Island Eisenhower 9-1. Zach Cosme fired a complete game one hitter with no earned runs and six strikeouts. Matt Cimoch was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs - whlie Waseem Haleem was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Westmont took down Prosser 21-5 to improve to 8-8 on the season. Ethan Kossak collected his first varsity hit. Ricky Yenkin was 4-for-4 with four RBIs. Nikolai Baldwin got the win on the mound and was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Jaime Murphy was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs and Jack Costello added a single in the win.

Rolling Meadows shutout Hoffman Estates 15-0. Luke Schneider (2028) had a big day on both sides of the ball; tossing four innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit with four strikeouts while also going 2-for-3 at the dish with a double and two RBI. Joe Brigham (2026; 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI), Quinn Hextall (2028; 2-for-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI), and Jack O'Callaghan (2027; 3-for-3, 2 RBI) each had productive days at the plate en route to the win.

The Golden Eagles got a great start from George Donze (2026; Wisconsin-Stevens Point), going all five innings, allowing just two runs, one earned run, and striking out three. Ryan Tucker (2027; 3-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Aaden Colon (2027; 2-for-3, 2 RBI, R), Cooper Gulgren (2026; Wisconsin-Stout; 2-for-3, 2B, RBI, 2 R), Jack Coates (2028; 2-for-2, 2 RBI, R, HBP) and Jowell Colon (2027; 2B, 2 RBI) led a balanced offensive attack. Gabe Winkelman (2026; Wisconsin-Parkside) collected two hits and both runs scored for the Wolves.

St. Rita took down De La Salle 5-1. Sully Kazee (2026; Southeastern CC) tossed a complete game, scattering two hits and three walks, while punching out ten. Hampshire walked it off against Crystal Lake Central 4-3 to complete the two game sweep. Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Rubino (2028) delivered a two RBI single to cap off his 2-for-3 day, including a HR and the game winner. Gavin Weston (2028) recorded two hits and a HBP, and Jonathan Alexander (2026) recorded two hits of his own. Mason Stanley (2027) went five innings, allowing five hits and three runs, while striking out three. Wade Ozment (2027; Illinois) had a solid start for the Tigers, going five innings, allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out five. Ozment also added an RBI double in the contest.

Plainfield Central took down Oswego East 8-5. Ryder Sisti (2028) led the offense with two hits, an RBI, a BB, and a HBP. Alex Syska (2027) also reached base four times, with a hit and three walks. Barrington took down Hersey 3-1 in a low scoring affair. Will Renshaw (2026; Southeastern CC (IA)) went six innings, allowing four hits, one run, zero earned, and recorded five punchouts. Will Steffens (2028; 2 2B, RBI, R) and Joseph Mueller (2027; 2-for-3, 2B, RBI, R) led the Broncos offense. JD Farkas (2028) got the start for the Huskies and went all six innings, and allowed just two earned runs and struck out five.

Marian Catholic defeated Joliet Catholic 8-4. Chase Boykin (2029; 2-for-4, 3B, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Lacey Rogers Jr. (2028; 2-for-3, 2 R) and Bronx Debergh (2028; 2B, RBI, R, BB) led the Spartans offense. Derrick Pomatto (2027) collected a triple and an RBI for the Hilltoppers.

DeKalb held on to defeat Naperville North 2-1 to move to 9-1-1 on the season. Hunter Kriese (2026; Elgin CC) got the start on the mound for DeKalb and went all six innings, allowing just one unearned run, while striking out eight. Caden Smith (2027) collected two hits and an RBI, and Gavin Cheney (2027) doubled to power the offense. For Naperville North, Lawton Close (2028) tossed five innings, allowing two runs, while striking out five. Close also added a 2B at the plate.
