POTENTIAL DRAFT PROSPECTS:

Ethan Wachsmann RHP / OF / Grandview, CO / 2026Wachsmann remains atop the Colorado 2026 class rankings after his fastball made yet another impressive jump. The Prep Baseball Colorado scouting staff was on hand for his first start of the season, where he lit up radar guns with a fastball up to 100 (!) mph. He also flashed exceptional spin, featuring a curveball around 2,900 rpm, a fastball around 2,500 rpm, and a new cutter in the 2,800 rpm range to go along with his "kick change" he used well against lefties last season. At 6'5'', Wachsmann has continued to evolve on the mound over the past few seasons with true outlier stuff and velocity. In a small sample of innings so far in 2026, he’s been superb; racking up 29 strikeouts across 14 innings, issuing just three walks, and posting a 1.50 ERA. Last spring, he established himself as one of the most dominant all-around arms in the state, highlighted by a no-hitter and a deep run into the 5A postseason. A Wake Forest signee, Wachsmann’s ceiling continues to rise, and he’s firmly cemented as one of the top players to follow in the region as his draft stock keeps trending upward.

Gunnar Garrison RHP / 1B / Eaton, CO / 2026Garrison has already earned ‘Pitcher of the Week’ honors twice during this CHSAA season, and he’s now sitting consistently around 96 mph with his fastball. The Arizona State commit and Eaton product is one of Colorado’s fiercest competitors on the mound, pairing that mentality with big-time stuff, a combination that oozes success. At 6'5'', 235 Ibs, Garrison has been nothing short of dominant in 2026, compiling 29.2 innings with 63 strikeouts, just three walks, and a sparkling 0.47 ERA at the 3A/4A level. Beyond the elite velocity, he shows a strong feel for a curveball in the 80–83 mph range (~2,500 rpm), along with a developing splitter he’s gaining increasing confidence and control with. A Prep Baseball Super 60 attendee and 2024 Future Games standout, Garrison has firmly placed himself in early ‘Player of the Year’ conversations in Colorado this spring, while continuing to build serious momentum with his draft stock.

Maddox Burnett RHP / OF / Erie, CO / 2026Another top-ranked player firmly in the ‘Player of the Year’ conversation, and one continuing to generate draft buzz is two-way BYU commit Maddox Burnett. Our scouting staff has seen Burnett up to 94 mph on the mound, where he’s been nothing short of dominant against 5A/4A competition. Burnett has logged 37.2 innings this spring, striking out 73 while allowing just 12 walks and posting a 1.30 ERA. The production doesn’t stop there, at the plate, he’s been equally impactful, hitting .547 with nine extra-base hits, 10 stolen bases, and a 1.472 OPS across 67 plate appearances. One of the premier athletes in the class, Burnett continues to impress with an actively developing arsenal that’s drawn attention from MLB scouts. He features a fastball in the 92–94 mph range (~2,250 rpm), a curveball at 75–77 mph (~2,300 rpm), and a sharp cutter at 86–87 mph (~2,300 rpm). With his ability to impact the game on both sides and continued growth on the mound, Burnett stands out as one of the most dynamic, and closely followed prospects in the state.
