The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout the Dakotas. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, threre are very talented programs across both states.

NOTES

+ Brandon Valley takes two wins against two North Dakota State Tournament teams from last season. Max Peters led the charge in game one, collecting 2 hits, kocking in 3 runs. In game two, Jack Blomgren tallied 3 RBIs collecting a double. The Lynx threw 12 arms across the two games and move to 5-3 overall on the season.

+ North Dakotas defending champs, West Fargo Sheyenne split the day. Jake Dangerud went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs to lead a 15-hit attack as the Sheyenne Mustangs cruised to a 17-0 victory over the SF Lincoln Patriots on Friday. The Mustangs seized control immediately with a four-run first inning and punctuated the shutout with a six-run fifth that featured a two-run triple by Dangerud and a run-scoring double from Max Zenker. Hudson Henrich earned the win with three innings of one-hit ball and five Ks.

+ Madison earned a split on the day, taking down Grand Forks Red River in their second game. JD Prorok dominated on the mound, racking up 12 strikeouts over six scoreless innings to lead the Madison Bulldogs to an 8-0 shutout victory over the Red River Roughriders on Friday. The Bulldogs broke a scoreless tie in the third inning behind a Tregg McGillivray RBI double and a two-run single from Cale Johnson, who finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Madison help the Roughriders to 2 total hits on the day.

+ The Pierre T.F. Riggs Governors swept a Friday doubleheader, edging the SF Lincoln Patriots 4-3 before outlasting the West Fargo Packers 2-1. Parker O’Bryan fueled the opening win with three hits and two RBIs, supporting a solid 5.2-inning start from Will Danburg, while Porter Hunsley locked down the save. Hunsley returned to the mound in the nightcap to toss 3.2 innings of hitless relief, earning the win after Jonathan Neuharth surrendered only one run through five innings of work. The Governors' offense relied on a three-hit performance from Tripp Lindekugel.

+ Brody Jacobson went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI to propel the Jefferson Cavaliers to a 9-1 victory over the Shanley Deacons on Friday. The Cavaliers secured the win with a massive seven-run fifth inning featuring run-scoring singles from Jacobson, Noah Kuenzi and Everett Salonen. On the mound, Caden Voss earned the win by striking out eight over three hitless innings, followed by Kyler Boyd’s seven strikeouts in three frames of perfect relief.
