Each week, our staff updates the Power 25 and provides key talking points from last week's games. This week, we see a new number one with minimal movement throughout, as one new team jumps inside the top 25.

Talking Points

  • Archbishop Spalding takes over No. 1. The Cavs took the series from Calvert Hall, 2-1 last week, and take over the number one spot once again. Another tough series for Spalding this week, as they lock horns with No. 3 Mount St. Joe in a three-game set.
  • John Carroll continues their consistency in conference. The Patriots are now 6-3 in conference this spring after taking two of three against Loyola Blakefield. They now turn their attention to a scrappy Gilman squad this week.
  • Mount St. Joseph hot on the heels of Calvert Hall and Spalding. The Gaels have been rolling as of late, and now sit at 16-2 after a 5-0 week last week, including a "Jack Conley Memorial" tournament championship over the weekend.

Winners

  • Chesapeake-AA took spring break by storm, notching three wins, including two over Walter Johnson and Long Reach.
  • Urbana had a strong week over spring break, going 3-0 with all quality wins over Linganore, Broadneck, and Leonardtown.
  • Huntingtown remains undefeated following a 3-0 week, as the Hurricanes defeated Chopticon, Severna Park, and McDonough.
  • Walt Whitman continues to add their name as a real contender this spring, as the Vikings notched another undefeated week with wins over Wootton and Poolesville.
  • Gilman has played each MIAA team competitively this spring, and another series win over McDonogh has the Greyhounds rolling. A big matchup this week against John Carroll is a big test to see where Gilman really is.

Seeking Improvement

  • Calvert Hall looks to rebound this week following a series loss against Archbishop Spalding, and a tough loss to Georgetown Prep over the weekend.
  • Parkside had a tough week last week, going winless across three games. The Rams look to get back on track this week with games against Crisfield, Washington, and Delmar (DE).
  • Chopticon faced a gauntlet across the state last week, as the Braves defeated La Plata but then dropped games against Huntingtown and Broadneck.
