Prep Baseball Illinois Pitcher of the Week: Nick Bailey

By: Peter Hamot
Assistant Scouting Director, Illinois & Wisconsin

Right-hander Nick Bailey (2026) emerged at the Kickoff Classic as a must-know arm in the state, facing off against No. 12 Edwardsville in what resulted in a 7-3 victory for the Trevians. For his dominant performance against one of the state’s top teams, Bailey has been named the first Pitcher of the Week for the 2026 season.

The long-levered right-hander was in complete control the entire time he was on the mound, firing 5.2 innings with just one hit allowed, not allowing a run and only walking two against 12 strikeouts - also taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning.

The tall right-hander dominated with a fastball in the 88-89 mph range, still reaching back for 88 mph in the fourth inning. He also went to a sharp slider with over 2,600 rpm in the mid-70s as his go-to putaway offering.

Still uncommitted, Bailey has firmly established himself as one of the top names still on the market in the state, and he looks to be primed for a big spring ahead.
