The 2026 high school baseball season has officially kicked off, bringing with it a wave of standout performances across the state. Each week, coaches will nominate exceptional athletes for Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, from which we’ll select the top four candidates in each category for a public vote via a Twitter (X) poll. Fans will have the power to crown the weekly winners, while those nominees who don’t make the final cut will still receive recognition in our Weekly Diamond Notes article, published every Wednesday.

Andrew Almond OF / F. W. Buchholz High School, FL / 2026Buchholz senior Andrew Almond put on a clinic at the plate this week, earning Hitter of the Week honors with a staggering offensive performance. The Northwest Florida State commit was the engine of the Bobcats' offense, going a remarkable 6-for-9 at the dish while crossing the plate for seven runs scored. He inflicted damage whenever he made contact, driving in seven RBIs and collecting four extra-base hits. His extra-base production included two doubles and two home runs. Wilson Shaw LHP / OF / Lemon Bay, FL / 2027Lemon Bay junior Wilson Shaw delivered a masterclass on the mound, earning Pitcher of the Week honors with a dominant start. The 2027 southpaw was a strikeout machine for the Manta Rays, racking up a staggering 16 strikeouts.
