Texas Diamond Notes: Week 3

The Texas Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some of the top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday evening of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games.

A special thank you to all of the high school coaches for nominating their players.

WEEK 3 DIAMOND NOTES

+ Santiago Arreaza Periera, SS (The Colony, 2026):

Arreaza Periera went 5-for-10, hitting two doubles and one triple, while committing one error in 18 total chances. On the season, he has a .442 batting average and a .962 fielding percentage with two errors in 52 total chances.


+ Zion Ashford, 1B/CF (North Shore, 2026):

Ashford went 8-for-12 at the plate, collecting two doubles, two triples, three RBI, and six runs scored. He also drew three walks and stole three bases.


+ Landon Carlisle, RHP (Weatherford, 2026; Grayson JC commit):

Carlisle pitched a six-inning no-hitter against Keller Central, which ended early due to a time limit. Over his six innings, he struck out 10 batters and allowed zero runs on zero hits.

+ Matt Garcia, P/1B/DH (Lubbock Coronado, 2026):

On the mound, Garcia pitched seven innings to earn a win over Odessa, allowing one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out five batters. Offensively over four games, he posted a .500 batting average (6-for-12), a 1.433 OPS, and an .833 slugging percentage. He collected one double, one home run (a grand slam), seven RBI, three runs scored, two walks, and one hit-by-pitch.


+ Ty Higginbotham, OF (Atascocita, 2026; LSU-Eunice JC commit):

Higginbotham recorded a .462 batting average and a .467 on-base percentage by going 6-for-13 at the plate. He tallied one double, five RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases.


+ Christopher Moreno, 3B/C (North Shore, 2027):

Moreno batted 6-for-10, recording one double, seven RBI, and one run scored. He also drew five walks and stole three bases.


+ Joshua Viars, SS (Prosper Walnut Grove, 2026; West Virginia commit):

Viars went 10-for-13 with one double, three home runs, eight runs scored, nine RBI, three stolen bases, and one walk. Overall, he is hitting .500 on the season, helping Walnut Grove get off to a 12-2 start.

+ Jett Vindiola, C (Weatherford, 2026; Kansas State commit):

Vindiola posted a .462 batting average by going 6-for-13 at the plate. He hit two doubles and drove in five.


+ Jackson Wooten, SS (Atascocita, 2027; Kentucky commit):

Wooten went 7-for-15 to record a .467 batting average, a .556 on-base percentage, and a 1.489 OPS. His performance included one double, three triples, five runs scored, three walks, and eight stolen bases.
