WEEK 1 SCOUT BLOG

Cooper Harris | RHP | Flower Mound | 2026 | Texas Commit
The University of Texas recruit opened his 2026 campaign with a strong, complete outing, showing why he’s one of the more intriguing arms in the class. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-hander ran his fastball 92–93 mph and touched 95, consistently working downhill and challenging hitters in the zone. His slider (80–82 mph, up to 2700 RPM) showed tight spin and late action, serving as a true swing-and-miss offering, while the curveball (75–76 mph) gave him a distinct second breaking ball with depth. He also mixed in an 84–85 mph changeup to keep hitters off balance and round out a full four-pitch mix. Harris works with an athletic, compact delivery, attacks with confidence, and has the feel for spin and strike-throwing ability to execute any pitch in any count.

Taegen Tate | RHP | Amarillo | 2028
Taegen Tate, a 2028 right-hander out of West Texas, continued to trend upward in his latest outing, showing noticeable growth in his overall pitchability. The sophomore worked 87–91 mph through the first two innings and held 86–89 mph into the third, showing the ability to maintain his stuff deep into his pitch count. His fastball generated swings and misses in the zone, a testament to both life and his willingness to attack hitters. Tate’s slider (75–77 mph) showed improved feel compared to previous looks, flashing tighter shape and better consistency as a true secondary weapon. He competes with confidence on the mound, challenges hitters with intent, and continues to establish himself as an arm to monitor in the 2028 class.

Cruz McBride | RHP | Dripping Springs | TX | 2029
Wiry 6’2”, 175-pound frame with room to continue adding strength. Polished look for a high-level 2029 arm. Works with poise and shows feel for all three pitches. Fastball shows quality metrics for the age, while the breaking ball is consistently landed with present shape and spin. There’s a chance it tightens into a firmer slider as he matures. Changeup shows early feel with separation off the heater.

FB: 88–90 (2488 RPM, IZMs)
CB: 72–76 (2200–2400 RPM, 11/5)
CH: 81–82 (1200 RPM)

Caleb Calvert | SS | Liberty Hill | 2026 | Western Texas Commit
The Western Texas recruit delivered a strong performance at the plate, going 4-for-4 out of the two-hole. Calvert consistently controlled the barrel throughout the day, showing a mature approach and the ability to use the middle of the field. An athletic defender, he possesses the range and footwork to remain at shortstop. His actions and body control play well on the dirt, giving Liberty Hill stability on the infield. As part of an experienced Panther lineup this season, Calvert continues to be a reliable presence both offensively and defensively.

Jordan Andrews | 1B/LHP | Liberty Hill | 2026 | Blinn Commit
Always fun to see Andrews play, because he doesn’t take a pitch off. Always showing real competitive edge on the diamond. Battled off of a solid pitcher for an RBI single up the middle in this look. The bat has really started to show some power in preseason.

Gustavo Nunez | C/CIF | Prosper | 2026 | Grayson Commit
Nunez looks to be a big bat in the middle of the order for Prosper. Put together quality at bats in the game we saw him and added a no doubt home run to RF as well.

Joseph Cardona Jr. | 1B/OF | Buda Johnson | 2027 | Uncommitted
We have always seen Cardona hit, and this past weekend was no different. On thursday, he had 2 doubles and a home run off of a high end arm that was up to 95mph. The LHH has quiet confidence in the box and can really get the barrel out and do damage. He continued to hit on the weekend, with a double to deep CF in his next AB the following morning and another homer on Saturday. The uncommitted Jr will look to keep making noise this season for a talented Buda Johnson team.

Waylon Griffith | OF | Buda Johnson | 2027 | Uncommitted
Griffith stood out in the games I saw Buda Johnson. Some real athleticism and bounce in his game. Had a triple to RCF that would be a double for most and showed some real feel for the game. Saw him add another hit the next day as well. Intriguing player with athleticism and tools.

Logan Brown | 1B/RHP | Keller | 2026 | Houston Commit
I missed Brown’s start on the mound this weekend but was able to catch him hit a monster home run to CF while going 4-4 under the lights. He has really started to get the barrel out and do damage in the last few looks and is going to be an anchor for the Indians. Moves better on the field every time we see him as well. Big time 2 way talent.

Maddox McCrary | LHP | Keller | 2028
The southpaw worked 83–85 mph with the fastball, showing arm-side life out of a wiry 6-foot-2 frame. The delivery is athletic and dynamic, featuring a loose, whippy arm that creates deception and projects for more velocity down the road. His best secondary offering was an advanced 77–79 mph changeup with quality fade and bottom, giving him a legitimate weapon. The 71–72 mph curveball showed developing depth and shape, rounding out a three-pitch mix he has feel to command. With present pitchability and physical projection remaining, there is clear upside still to come as he continues to add strength.

Cooper Webb | RHP | Lake Travis | 2026 | Texas Commit
The University of Texas recruit turned in a solid four-inning outing, striking out eight while flashing premium arm strength. Webb ran his fastball 91–95 mph, consistently challenging hitters and showing the ability to elevate when ahead. His breaking ball (80–84 mph) played as a power offering with sharp action, missing bats and keeping hitters uncomfortable, while the 82 mph changeup added a reliable third look. After a tough first inning, he settled in and battled through the next three frames, showing composure and mound presence. Webb has the mentality of a big-game pitcher, competing with energy and confidence every time he takes the ball.

Reed Dierschke | RHP | Buda Johnson | 2027 | Uncommitted
The uncommitted right-hander continues to strengthen his profile with a well-rounded, high-quality arsenal. Dierschke ran his fastball 88–92 mph, spinning it north of 2500 RPM and showing the ability to miss bats with life through the zone. His 80–82 mph slider remains a true weapon, tunneling effectively off the fastball and generating uncomfortable swings with late action. He also mixed in an 83 mph changeup to keep hitters honest and give him a legitimate third option. A ’25 Future Gamer, Dierschke continues to trend upward as a confident strike-thrower with swing-and-miss traits.

Cole Koeninger | SS/RHP | Keller | 2026 | Tennessee Commit
The Tennessee recruit delivered another dominant performance on the mound. Koeninger struck out nine over four innings, allowing just one hit and issuing no walks, overpowering hitters with electric stuff from start to finish. He ran his fastball 92–96 mph with life, pairing it with a sharp 82–84 mph curveball that is a true hammer and an 88 mph slider. The 86 mph changeup rounded out a complete four-pitch mix, helping him generate double-digit whiffs on the night. The athleticism stands out every time he takes the field, and the arm strength and swing-and-miss ability continue to separate him as one of the premier two-way talents in the class.

At the plate, Koeninger saw success on the weekend. In the games I saw, he routinely turned singles into doubles, with top end speed and an aggressive mindset out of the box. He added a home run as well. Undeniable talent on both sides of the ball.

Griffin Bourland | RHP | Eaton | 2026 | Baylor Commit
The Baylor recruit delivered a dominant four-inning performance, striking out 10 while allowing just one hit and one walk. Bourland worked 90–94 mph with the fastball, effectively mixing his four-seam and two-seam to create uncomfortable looks and keep hitters from getting comfortable in the box. He showed two distinct breaking ball shapes, landing the 75–77 mph curveball for depth and feel while flashing a sharper 80–83 mph slider that continues to develop into a true out pitch. The 83–86 mph changeup gave him another weapon to neutralize LHH and round out a complete four-pitch mix. With his ability to change eye levels, vary shapes, and command multiple offerings, Bourland proved once again he can overpower lineups in a variety of ways.

Mick Randle | MIF | Rockwall-Heath | 2026 | Texas Wesleyan Commit
The Texas Wesleyan commit impressed out of the two-hole for Heath, providing quality at-bats and consistent barrel control at the top of the order. Randle shows a mature approach with a swing that allows the barrel to stay in the zone. The left-handed hitter displays twitch and athleticism, giving him present bat speed and projection as he continues to add strength. He consistently competes in the box, showing the ability to adjust and use the whole field. With his tools and feel to hit, Randle is a steady presence for the Hawks’ lineup.

Cooper Knight | LHP/OF | Buda Johnson | 2029
A strong early look at the talented left-hander out of Buda, showing why he’s an arm to track in the 2029 class. Knight worked 83–88 mph with the fastball, featuring arm-side run that allowed him to miss barrels and create uncomfortable swings. The changeup (74 mph) is his go-to secondary, thrown with maintained arm speed and confidences. He also mixed in a 72–74 mph curveball with developing shape and feel to round out the arsenal. An athletic mover on the mound, Knight shows present pitchability with plenty of projection remaining as he continues to mature physically.

Chase Pearrow | INF | Waxahachie | 2026 | Navarro Commit
An absolute monster weekend from Pearrow down in Austin. He took home our Hitter of the Week honors after tallying 5 home runs and 13 RBI on 11 hits. We have always seen him show the ability to impact the baseball so for him to do it in HS action is fun to watch. Quiet in the box with ability to really unload on the baseball.

Landon Lang | RHP | Lake Travis | 2026 | Arizona State Commit
An intriguing look at the ASU recruit, who brings a unique look to the mound. Lang worked 87–89 mph from a low three-quarter slot, creating deception and allowing the fastball to play up in the zone with late life that jumps on hitters. He mixed in an 84–85 mph sinker with heavy arm-side run and downhill action, generating weak contact down in zone. The 74–75 mph slider featured sweep and consistently produced swing-and-miss, showing advanced feel and confidence to land it in key counts, with the 80–82 mph changeup rounded out the arsenal. With his ability to vary shapes, attack from a tough slot, and compete with presence, Lang will continue to create tough looks for hitters.

Brock Burkett | CF | Keller | 2026 | Weatherford Commit
The Weatherford recruit is off to a strong start this season, continuing to set the tone at the top of Keller’s lineup. Burkett shows a mature approach in the box, hitting with rhythm and balance while consistently finding the barrel. He tallied multiple hits in the games I saw, including a go-ahead two-run home run that swung the momentum in the Indians’ favor. A true spark plug, Burkett brings energy and production to a talented Keller lineup.

Oscar Johnson | RHP | Dripping Springs | 2026 | San Jacinto Commit
The San Jacinto recruit turned in a solid four-inning effort for the Tigers, striking out five while consistently competing in the zone. Johnson worked 88–90 mph with the fastball, attacking hitters and missing barrels with late life through the zone. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-hander moves well down the mound, using his frame to create angle and extension out front. His 80–82 mph slider is short but effective, showing tight action and the ability to generate uncomfortable swings. He also flashed a changeup to round out the mix, giving him another option as he continues to develop into a durable, strike-throwing presence on the mound.

Hank Rippy | SS | Anderson | 2027 | Texas Commit
Rippy brings a relaxed, confident look in the box, slowing the game down and letting his natural bat speed work. The hands are quick and direct, and there’s clear indication that more power is on the way as he continues to add strength. On the infield, he shows plus hands with a strong, accurate arm that plays on the left side. The overall polish and two-way feel for the game continue to stand out in the 2027 class.

Connor Comeau | SS | Anderson | 2026 | Texas A&M Commit
Comeau showed a great piece of hitting in this look, staying on a breaking ball and driving it the other way for a loud single. He took relaxed, controlled at-bats with early pitch recognition, allowing him to adjust and let the ball travel deep before committing. The swing works with rhythm and balance, showing feel for the barrel and the ability to use all fields. Defensively, he turned in a solid look at shortstop with slightly above-average arm strength that plays comfortably on the left side. Comeau continues to trend as a polished and projectable middle infielder.

Nixon Badilla | LHP | Dripping Springs | 2026 | Blinn Commit
The Blinn recruit turned in a strong three-inning outing against a tough lineup, striking out six while showing poise and pitchability. Badilla worked 85–88 mph with the fastball, at his best when keeping it down in the zone and creating tough angles from the left side. His 78–79 mph changeup proved to be a real weapon versus right-handed hitters, matching arm speed and generating uncomfortable swings with late fade. He showed the confidence to throw the changeup in any count.. The 72 mph curveball added depth to his mix, rounding out a three-pitch arsenal built around feel, sequencing, and ability to compete.

Cameron Ireland | RHP | Keller | 2026 | Trinity Commit
The Trinity recruit delivered a quality outing for Keller, striking out six and once again showing why he’s a dependable piece of the Indians’ rotation. Ireland worked 86–88 mph with the fastball, attacking hitters early and consistently pitching ahead in counts. His 76–77 mph slider paired well off the heater, generating weak contact and helping him produce plenty of ground balls. He also mixed in a 76 mph splitter to give hitters a different look and keep them from sitting on spin. With his aggressive approach and ability to fill up the zone, Ireland continues to be a go to option on the mound for the Indians.

Grayson Hallmark | OF | Brandeis | 2027 | Uncommitted
The uncommitted switch-hitter looked the part out of the leadoff spot for the Broncos, setting the tone with quality at-bats and energy. Hallmark features a wiry, projectable frame and a mature bat-to-ball approach from both sides of the plate, consistently putting the barrel on the baseball. There’s developing juice in the profile as he continues to add strength, but his ability to spray the ball chalk to chalk already stands out. He runs well and plays with a high motor, applying pressure on the bases and in the outfield. With his baseball IQ and competitiveness, Hallmark continues to trend as an intriguing 2027.

Elijah Ramirez | OF | San Marcos | 2027 | Uncommitted
Ramirez is an absolute gamer. He plays a good center field where he can cover ground and make diving plays. In the box, the LHH competes and can come up with big hits when needed. Can run a little bit and impacts the game for the Rattlers on both sides of the ball.

Connor Davenport | RHP | Keller | 2026 | Abilene Christian Commit
The ACU recruit struck out five over 3.1 innings while showing the ability to control the tempo of the game. Davenport cruised mostly 88–91 mph with the fastball and showed he could reach back for 92–93 when he needed a little extra. He attacked hitters with confidence, working ahead in counts and pitching off his fastball effectively. The 82 mph slider played best when kept down in the zone, flashing as a true swing-and-miss offering with late bite. With an XL frame, it is hard to see Davenport do anything but keep throwing hard and sharpening his game.

Jack Vasquez | LHP | San Marcos | 2027 | Texas State Commit
The Texas State recruit struck out seven over there innings against a solid lineup. Vasquez worked 87–90 mph and touched 91 with the fastball, flashing a quick arm and athletic delivery that helps the ball play through the zone. He paired it with a 76–78 mph breaking ball that showed quality shape and gave hitters a different look, creating swing-and-miss when he was ahead. The FB/BB combo proved effective at generating whiffs in the zone throughout the night. While he allowed more free passes than he would like, the stuff and competitiveness were evident, reinforcing his upside on the mound.

Beckett Williams | OF | Flower Mound | 2027 | Uncommitted
The uncommitted LHH fits naturally at the top of the order for Flower Mound. Williams brings a mature, bat-to-ball approach with a loose, rhythmic left-handed stroke that consistently finds the barrel. He shows comfort working deep counts, staying within himself and refusing to chase, which allows him to consistently compete each at-bat. From the leadoff spot, he reached base three times for the Jags and applied steady pressure on the defense in the game we saw. The hit tool is the separator right now, and it’s trending in a positive direction as he continues to develop.

Hayden Zandt | OF | Waxahachie | 2027 | Uncommitted
Zandt can really swing it from the left side. We have seen it in-event and now in game. He had a double the other way in the first game we saw and added a no doubt home run in the second game. Another strong bat in the middle of a Waxahachie lineup that likes to punish baseballs.

Jax Robinson | C | Waxahachie | 2026 | Texas Commit
The Texas commit got off to a hot start this weekend. 10 hits, including 3 home runs, a double and a triple, driving in 12. Balanced approach with good swing decisions and a real ability to impact the baseball. Solid behind the dish as well and is a big part of this Waxahachie team that seems to be able to put up runs at will. Always fun to see the 2024 Future Gamer play.

Kye Covert | MIF | Westlake | 2028
Covert had 3 knocks in the game we saw on Saturday, displaying a solid approach that doesn’t try to do too much. Flashed the leather on the dirt as well turning multiple double plays. Intriguing 2028 to watch as he continues to add strength.

Hayden Chung | OF | Westlake | 2029
Chung is a good name to circle early in the 2029 class. He turned in a quality at-bat against 94–96 mph velocity, showing no panic and a mature approach. In a tough left-on-left matchup, he battled with two strikes and fought off a quality pitch for a single, displaying competitiveness and barrel control. There’s present bat speed in the swing, and the ball comes off with intent when he’s on time. With the combination of feel to hit and obvious physical upside, Chung is an intriguing follow moving forward.

Hudson Holt | OF | Rockwall | 2027 | Texas Commit
Holt continues to show the hit tool each time we see him. He went 3-3 in the game I saw with a triple. The swing produces hard line drive contact and he is always looking to do damage. Strong arm from the OF that translates to the mound. He is Rockwall’s ace this year and will be a big part of their success on both sides of the ball.

Connor Ray | 2027 SS | Grapevine | Weatherford College Commit
Can really hit. Six hits on the week with multiple multi-hit games. Solid defender up the middle who consistently makes plays. Hits lower in the Grapevine lineup but would likely be a 3- or 4-hole hitter for many teams in the state. Always finds a way to help his team win.

Joshua Viars | 2026 MIF/C | Prosper Walnut Grove | West Virginia Commit
Good baseball player. Aggressive hitter who doesn’t get cheated and can leave the yard, primarily pull side. More hit than power overall. Athletic with plus speed. Made plays defensively with range to both sides. Valuable defensive versatility.

Alex Moreno | 2026 RHP | Sachse | Baylor Commit
Right-hander showed quality stuff over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Fastball touched 93 and worked 89–92. Shows average action at times on both the curveball and slider; can spin the baseball. Projects to develop swing-and-miss secondaries as the stuff continues to firm. Has starter/reliever upside at Baylor.

Cullen Scott | 2028 RHP/3B | Melissa
Worked 90–95 in a short one-inning outing. Two-seam showed average to plus life at times. Curveball 81–83 with feel. Followed with five innings vs. Spring Hill (2 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 4 K). Continues to trend upward.

Had a strong weekend at the plate as well: 2 HR, 1 3B, 5 2B. Swings it with authority. High-follow two-way prospect.

Finley Wilson | 2028 LHP/CF | Melissa
Athletic with a strong, projectable frame. Repeats a solid delivery and arm action. Strike-thrower who touched 86 with feel for secondaries. Threw three innings vs. Pine Tree with seven strikeouts and two hits allowed.

Plus runner in center field with quality at-bats. Upside on both sides of the ball.

Carson Herlehy | 2026 RHP | Celina | Midland College Commit
Lean, lanky build. Repeats well; arm works. Fastball 86-90 (T90). Slider 75-78, curveball 71–74. Struck out 10 in four innings. Gets swing-and-miss in the zone and projects for more velocity.

Ross Davis | 2026 RHP | Rusk | San Jacinto Commit
Strong build. Repeats delivery and arm action. Fastball 88-90 (T92 once). Slider 79. Showed feel for curveball and changeup in pen (did not show in-game). Plus strike-thrower with continued development ahead.

Will Fiedler | 2026 OF | Kingwood | Sam Houston State Commit
Strong build with continued physical projection. Plus runner who consistently puts together quality at-bats at the top of the order. Drives balls to both gaps. Covers ground well defensively. Natural leadership traits.

Graham Charboneau | 2026 OF | Kingwood | Baylor Commit
Athletic frame with strength and physicality. Runs well for the frame with real juice to the bat. Can show length at times but has power to all fields. Rangy outfielder with a plus arm.

Langston Lee | 2026 OF | Clear Lake | Alvin CC Commit
Quick-twitch athlete with physical projection remaining. Smooth stroke with quick hands and barrel feel. Steady defender. Opened week one going 6-for-14 with two triples, two doubles, and a home run.

Jackson Wooten | 2027 SS | Atascocita | Kentucky Commit
One of the top shortstops in the state. Ranges well in all directions and can win games with the glove. Plus runner. Short stroke at the plate with sneaky juice.

Ty Higginbotham | 2026 LHP/1B | Atascocita | LSU-Eunice Commit
Polished left-hander with pitchability. Fastball 85–88 with arm-side run. Commands both sides of the plate. Breaking ball shows sweep with tighter break. Feel for the changeup. Keeps the ball down and can manipulate speeds.

Cole Holsomback | 2026 OF | Katy Taylor | Uncommitted
Outstanding week during Katy Taylor’s 5-0 tournament run. Went 8-for-15 with two doubles, one home run, six RBI, and four steals. Makes good swing decisions and keeps hands inside the baseball. Competitor.

Bryce Krenek | 2026 LHP | Katy Taylor | Texas Commit
