BELLEVUE VS LIBERTY (4.3.26)

BELLEVUE

The Wolverine offense had a day in this match-up totaling 17 runs on 16 total hits. There were contributions throughout the line-up from an offense that features a mix of both senior experience and some rising uncommitted prospects as well.

Senior Greyson Arnold (Northwest Nazarene) had a big day offensively to lead the Wolverines. At the plate he went 3-5, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI. The strong, physical RHH sets up with a taller, more upright posture with a slightly open lower half. Uses a short, quick gather then lands into a wide base. Strong at the point of contact. Heavy barrel when he connects. Aggressive approach and looks to do damage when he gets strikes to handle in the zone.

Uncommitted ‘27 OF Maddox Yoshinaga also contributed in a big way, going 4-4 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI. The lefty stick showed the ability to let the ball travel and keep his barrel on an inside path, driving hits to his opposite field gap. Swing gets on plane early and stays through the zone with a more level finish.

There were several more contributions throughout the line-up as well. Uncommitted ‘28 INF Jessie Gonzalez was 2-4 with 2 R and 2 RBI. The lefty bat continues to show a consistent contact approach. Controls the barrel well and can work to all fields.

Seniors Jackson Rankin (Everett) and Alex Gillin also had multi-hit performances. Rankin went 2-3, 2B, 3 R, RBI, BB. Yet again, another lefty bat in this Bellevue line-up. Brings strength and power to the offensive with controlled intent. Strong, stocky frame. Really uses his lower half well in the swing and creates power from the ground up.

Gillin showed more of a contact approach from the left-side with a flat bat path and quickness in the hands. Went 2-4 on the day with 2 RBI.

LIBERTY

Despite a tough result in this one, the Liberty offense still put together 6 runs on 9 total hits. With only 3 seniors on the roster, this year might have some ups and downs for the Patriots but the future should be bright moving forward.

On the mound, we got our first look this spring at ‘28 RHP Tate Tuininga. After a breakout showing in the Fall at our inaugural Super Sophomore event, Tuininga took another step forward on this look. The 6’5 righty has long levers and leverage with a high waisted build. He moves easily down the mound with a shorter stride length and loose, continuous arm swing. Gets easy extension out front and stays behind the FB well. His body control allows him to have a strong lead leg block and athletic decel. The pure stuff is trending upwards and there’s still plenty of ceiling for him to tap into as he grows.

FB 88-90, T92
CB 70-72 with late lateral shape

Offensively for the Patriots, ‘28 C Hudson Kauzlarich had the best showing in the line-up. The backstop went 3-4, 2 2B, R, RBI. Showed consistent rhythm in the box and delivered the barrel on time. Loose, easy hands in his set up then gather with a lower leg lift and short forward stride. Stays connected and generates momentum into the barrel. Hitterish type of presence at the plate.

‘29 OF Matty Bligh added a multi-hit performance for the Patriots as well. Going 2-3, R, 2 RBI on the afternoon. Showed consistent bat to ball skills with a middle of the field approach. Sets up the barrel in a more vertical position with his set-up then slots the hand slower during his stride and stays level through the zone.

INGRAHAM VS BALLARD (4.6.26)

INGRAHAM

The Rams got started quickly in this one and then put together a big 6th inning to seal the deal and secure an 11-3 victory.

On the bump, ‘26 RHP Landon Hill (Edmonds) put together 6 strong innings and really limited the Ballard offense. Pitched with a steady and consistent mix with his 3 pitch arsenal and executed out of the stretch in some crucial spots. Also showed the ability to miss bats and understands how to expand the zone with his secondaries.

Final line 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, ER, 3 BB, 9 K.

FB 82-85
CB 67-70
CH 74-77

A lot of bats contributed as the offense tallied 13 hits. Right out of the gate, uncommitted ‘27 INF Colton Ashford started things with a solo HR into LF. The stocky leadoff batter has strong, compact levers in the swing and put a tight turn on the ball with a lofted uphill finish. Went 1-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB on the day and really brought the momentum into the home dugout early.

Uncommitted ‘26 1B Landon Miller led the way after that with 3 knocks including 2 2Bs a R and 3 RBI. Miller is a strongly built 6’2 athlete with a sturdy lower half and powerful levels. Produces some big rotational output and above average bat speed. Power plays to all fields but he did most of his damage to the left-side of 2nd base in this look. Controlled intent at the plate.

Ingraham also had multi-hit performances from uncommitted seniors OF Bryce Campbell and C Roman Rodriguez. Campbell looked strong during pregame IO with easy, ranging strides and an athletic build. Went 2-3, 2B, 3 R, RBI. Has a loose, quick swing with extension through contact. Stays tall with good hip hinge and side bend at the plate to change planes when attacking the baseball.

Rodriguez went 2-2 with 2 singles. He went to his pull-side gap and also worked oppo for his base hits. There’s lean strength in his frame with quick, strong hands and a balanced approach in the box.

BALLARD

The Beavers had a tough time generating much offense in this one as they pieced together just 4 total hits. They did get some traffic on the bases at times and brought 2 runners home in the top of the 3rd on an error. But after that they managed just 1 more run on a solo HR.

Uncommitted ‘26 OF Bennett Klein provided the solo HR to lead off the top of the 4th. He got a FB in the zone that he could handle and didn’t miss it as he drove a deep shot into RF. He also squared up a ball in his final AB and looked like he was going to get another XBH but unfortunately he found the right fielder for a loud fly out.

‘27 1B Elliot Dotson had a nice 2-3 showing on the day with a 2B. Has a taller frame and build with some length in the levers. But showed the ability to stay tight and compact with his swing and drove a ball oppo into the RCF gap for his XBH on the day.

Overall there are some quality uncommitted hitting prospects on Ballard, especially their left side of the INF with 2027 grads Beau Reid at 3B and Wesley Manger at SS. It was just a quiet day for the bats on this look. 2028 C Oliver Farmer did show some quality defensive plays behind the dish and threw out a runner on a quick exchange into his throwing motion.
