On Saturday March 21st and Saturday March 28th, the VBCA and Prep Baseball VA/DC hosted two days of high school baseball games. Those two days saw fifteen teams from every corner of the state and talented players from every grad class. This event is aimed at getting different teams together to compete against generally unfamiliar opponents and keep the competition level extremely high.

Today we take a look at two players that had monster days at the plate and on the mound. 

MVPitcher: Kason Wagner

The Coastal Carolina commit could not have been better during his Commonwealth Classic outing. Wagner threw a complete game no-hitter, striking out sixteen along the way. During the course of that outing the senior right hander was up to 89 mph, held 86-87 in the seventh, and was spinning a newly acquired slider that looks to be a strong addition to his pitch arsenal, highlighted by the one he threw to finish the game with his sixteenth K. Wagner threw around 62% strikes during this outing and had it all working for what is probably his best outing thus far in 2026.

MVP: Oscar Hickey

After missing last spring, Hickey is off to a blazing start in 2026. While he has certainly had his fair share of success in other games this season, last weekend was the coming out party for some serious recognition. The William & Mary commit was 4-7 with three homeruns, one double, four RBI, and three runs scored. Hickey had two homeruns in the first game versus John Battle and followed that up with another bolt and a double versus Great Bridge.
