Monday
Lovett @ Kell
Score: Lovett win, 9-2
Standouts:
Charlie Jones, 1B, 2028, Lovett
Griffin Brogan, SS, 2026, Lovett
Reed Joslin, RHP, 2027, Lovett
Evan Brand, SS, 2027, Kell
Jack Rees, OF, 2026, Lovett
Key Moments: The Lovett offense would come out hot, putting 7 on-base in the top of the 1st with RBI knocks from Brady Ferguson, Charlie Jones and Jackson Schmidt making it a 4-0 game instantly. Jack Rees continues to be a major factor for Lovett with another three-hit night that included a ringing pull-side HR and 3 RBI. Reed Joslin has been stacking quality starts often and kept the Kell lineup off-balance all night while creating consistent soft contact.
Ian’s Takeaway: In a rare non-region matchup at this time of the year, Lovett showed the potent, experienced offense that’s carried them throughout the spring with 7 of their 11 wins coming by 5+ runs. Jack Rees and Griffin Brogan are as steady as you’ll find at the top of the order with Will Forte and Charlie Jones following behind to provide run-producing barrels regularly. More depth behind them with Blair Ferguson, Jackson Schmidt and Cade McKenzie providing value on both sides. Reed Joslin emerged as one of the consistent starters in the rotation and forms a formidable rotation alongside Roman Fishman and Cortland French to give Lovett trust heading into region series. Kell continues to get immense production at the top of the lineup from Evan Brand, who’s advanced plate discipline (17/1 BB:K) and bat-to-ball skills are as good as you’ll find in the class.
Wesleyan @ Paideia
Score: Wesleyan win, 3-0
Standouts:
Carter Hayes, SS, 2026, Wesleyan

Eli Coffey, 3B, 2026, Paideia

Key moments: Hudson Pursell shut down the Pythons offense early as he went 3.0 scoreless innings-pitched. Carter Hayes kickstarted the Wesleyan lineup as he opened the scoring with a solo HR in the 4th. Quinn Brown added an RBI XBH in the 5th and Carter Hayes came through again with a 2 RBI double to extend the lead 3-0 in the 4th. As that would end up being the final score.
Avery’s Takeaway: The bats were quiet on both sides through 3-innings on both sides. Hudson Pursell continues to make a statement this Spring with another strong outing on the mound and has staked his claim as a must know name in the ‘29 class. Carter Hayes had a fantastic showing in the box in a 3-for-4 performance with a solo HR, RBI 2B, and a 1B. Quin Brown added the other run in the game with an RBI backside double. Other hits in the lineup consisted of knocks from Andrew Waite, Ethan King, Coleman Eldridge, Knox Bingham, and William Wright. This is a well-connected upperclass heavy group that can win amongst anyone backed by confidence in the lineup on any given night. The lone hits for the Paideia offense came from Ryan Liu and Eli Coffey. It was a strong all-around look at Coffey as he made countless tough plays across the evening at the hot corner. There are quality pieces in the Pythons offense and they look to bounce back after a close loss.
Stephens County @ Hebron Christian
Score: Hebron Christian wins, 13-4
Standouts:

Key Moments:
This match up between 2 undefeated teams so far in region play was action packed from the jump. Stephens County jumped out to the early lead in the first after a QAB that resulted in a single. Christian Hewitt would then come through with a loud double to centerfield. Stephens County would scratch one more run across on an error by the defense to make it 2-0. It looked like Stephens County was an out away from a shut down innings, but Gus Steve found the barrel with 2 strikes for a single. From there the offense capitalized on some free bases with Holden Meers coming through with a single with the bases loaded. From there the offensive exploded with a Demitri Watts double, Austen Kitching single and finally a home run by Tyler Rogers to make it 8-2 after the first. Dallas Rice settled in on the mound for the Lions and pitched a great game to get the win 1-0. Rice and Griffin Treadwell added singles in the 2nd to make it 9-2. Both teams would scratch a couple more runs across, but Hebron Christian kept answering and would take the win 13-4.
Huddy’s Takeaway’s:
It was good to see Hebron for the 2nd time this year, especially with the way they have been playing. There is a battle at the top of the private classification between 3 or 4 teams. This Hebron line up only has 1 senior in it, with sophomores littered throughout that are going to be fun to watch the next 3 years. I need to see what else they bring to the table on the mound, I have seen Rice in both looks this year. They are going to have a real chance to make a run with the line up they have. It is strong 1-9 with 3 or 4 power threats that could change the game in one swing at any time. Stephens County is going to keep battling with a talented squad as well. Duke Collins sets the tone at the top of the order with one of the top uncommitted seniors I have seen this year in Christian Hewitt right behind him. Coach Cash is doing a great job with this team in his first year as head coach and they are going to continue to win games for years to come.
