The Prep Baseball California High School Hitter of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a California high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays. 

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

WEEK 5 HITTER OF THE WEEK

2026 OF Jett Ohira, St. John Bosco - USC Signee

Starting in centerfield for the No. 1 high school baseball team in the country, Ohira is off to a sensational start as the Braves have marched out to a 7-0 record in the early goings of the season. 

In a three-game series against Trinity League rival JSerra last week, Ohira was at his very best in helping the Braves earn the sweep and maintain their two year stranglehold on the best league in America. Ohira finished 7-for-9 in the series that included a home run, a pair of walks, four runs scored, and eight runs batted in. 

The senior USC signee has been on fire for the Braves since the first game. Through seven games, Ohira is hitting an eye opening .524 (11-for-21) with a team leading 11 RBI’s. He is slashing .524/.577/.667 and carries an OPS of 1.244 and has three walks. 

We salute senior Jhett Ohira of St. John Bosco High School on earning the Prep Baseball California Hitter of the Week.
