Prep Baseball Mississippi Staff

Mississippi Diamond Notes returns for the 2026 season, spotlighting standout performances from across the state based on nominations submitted by high school coaches. Each Wednesday throughout the season, we will recognize position players, pitchers, and two-way contributors who have earned attention with their on-field performances.

We appreciate the many coaches who took the time to submit nominations this week. 👏

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 5

HITTERS

+ Henry Abt (Hartfield Academy)
Henry Abt, a Southern Miss commit, put together one of the most dominant offensive weeks you’ll find, going an incredible 10-for-11 at the plate. He tallied two doubles and launched three home runs while driving in nine RBIs, consistently barreling baseballs and doing damage in every outing. A performance like that highlights just how locked in Abt was at the plate all week.

+ Ty Keys (Poplarville HS)
Ty Keys had a monster week at the plate for Poplarville, going 6-for-8 with four extra-base hits including a double, triple, and two home runs. He drove in six runs and added four stolen bases, showing both power and speed as a dynamic offensive catalyst.

+ Tripp Jones (Poplarville HS)
Trip Jones turned in a strong week offensively, going 6-for-8 with a home run and five RBIs. He also swiped two bags, providing a combination of power and speed while helping drive the Poplarville offense.

+ Chadwick Brown (Poplarville HS)
Chadwick Brown stayed hot at the plate, going 5-for-7 while driving in an impressive 10 runs. He also added five stolen bases, showcasing his ability to create havoc on the bases and produce runs in bunches.

+ Jett Smith (Poplarville HS)
Jett Smith impacted the game both ways this week, going 4-for-8 at the plate with a triple and two stolen bases. On the mound, he was dominant in three innings of work, allowing no hits while striking out six.

+ Grady Mitchell (Corinth HS)
Grady Mitchel delivered a huge power week for Corinth, collecting five hits in 13 at-bats with an eye-popping four home runs and seven RBIs. His ability to leave the yard multiple times made him one of the most dangerous bats of the week.

+ Riels Holder (Petal HS)
Riels Holder swung a scorching bat for Petal, going 9-for-13 (.692) with three doubles, four RBIs, and six runs scored. He also added three stolen bases, showing the ability to impact the game with both his bat and speed.

+ Kendall Morrison (Pearl River Central HS)
Kendall Morrison had an outstanding week, hitting .800 (4-for-5) with a double, home run, and three RBIs while scoring five runs. He also drew three walks without striking out and added a stolen base, showcasing a complete offensive performance.

+ Landyn Wilson (Pearl River Central HS)
Landyn Wilson stayed hot at the plate, going 4-for-5 (.800) with four RBIs while also drawing a walk. His consistent barrel finding helped drive the Pearl River Central offense.

+ JJ Morreale (Pearl River Central HS)
JJ Morreale continued his strong season by going 6-for-8 (.750) with a double, four RBIs, and two runs scored. He also added a stolen base and didn’t strike out, highlighting his polished offensive approach.

+ Brody Wilson (Tupelo HS)
Brody Wilson had a massive week for Tupelo, going 5-for-8 (.625) with two home runs, a double, and five RBIs while posting a .750 on-base percentage. He also delivered on the mound with a complete-game win over Vancleave, striking out eight across seven innings and hitting a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh to secure the 2-1 victory.

+ Gavin Copeland (Baldwyn HS)
Gavin Copeland turned in a productive week at the plate, going 7-for-10 while driving in three runs and scoring five times. His consistent contact and ability to get on base helped fuel the Baldwyn offense.

+ Carson Richardson (Baldwyn HS)
Carson Richardson stayed hot offensively, going 8-for-14 (.571) with a double and five RBIs. The young Bearcat continues to show the ability to produce runs and find barrels consistently.

+ Jayse Johnson (Baldwyn HS)
Jayse Johnson had a huge week at the plate for the Bears, going 5-for-13 with three home runs, including a grand slam against Tishomingo County. He also added two doubles, drove in nine runs, scored eight times, stole four bases, and drew two walks in a complete offensive performance.

+ Jackson Miller (Alcorn Central HS)
Jackson Miller continued his productive stretch, going 8-for-13 on the week with a triple, double, and five RBIs. He also scored six runs, stole six bases, and drew three walks, showcasing his ability to impact the game in multiple ways for Alcorn Central.

+ Rilyn Lambert (New Site HS)
Rilyn Lambert turned in a strong offensive week for the Royals, going 5-for-8 with a home run and three RBIs. The sophomore continues to show his ability to drive the baseball and produce in the middle of the lineup.

+ Jaxson McKinney (New Site HS)
Freshman Jaxson McKinney made a big impact offensively, going 4-for-9 while driving in seven runs. His ability to come through in key moments highlights the early promise in his bat.

+ Easton Hughes (Center Hill HS)
Easton Hughes had a strong all-around week, going 5-for-7 (.700) with two RBIs at the plate. He also contributed on the mound, working four innings against George County while allowing one earned run on four hits and striking out six.

+ Jase Schultz (Sumrall HS)
Jase Schultz swung a hot bat for Sumrall, going 5-for-6 on the week with five RBIs. His ability to consistently find the barrel helped spark the Eagles offense.

+ Braelyn Harrison (Sumrall HS)
Braelyn Harrison turned in a dynamic week, going 6-for-8 with three RBIs while scoring six runs. He also added four stolen bases, using his speed to create pressure on opposing defenses.

+ Parker Hawkins (Sumrall HS)
Parker Hawkins delivered a big week at the plate, going 5-for-8 with a home run and nine RBIs while scoring six runs. His production played a major role in driving the Sumrall offense.

PITCHERS

+ Ayden Radosta (Pearl River Central HS)
Ayden Radosta delivered a strong start in a win over Chalmette, tossing five shutout innings while allowing four hits with no walks and two strikeouts. He held hitters to a .200 batting average against in a controlled outing.

+ Roman Mitchell (Pearl River Central HS)
Roman Mitchell earned the win against Oak Forest Academy, working five innings while allowing two earned runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked one in another solid outing for the PRC staff.

+ Ridge Mask (Baldwyn HS)
Ridge Mask delivered a strong performance on the mound, tossing six innings while allowing just one run and no earned runs. He didn’t issue a walk in the outing, showing strong control and efficiency.

+ Jarrett Thomas (Baldwyn HS)
Jarrett Thomas delivered a strong outing on the mound in a win over Tishomingo County, tossing a complete game over five innings while allowing just three hits and no earned runs. The left-hander struck out seven in the outing, showing the ability to control the game and keep hitters off balance.

+ Jayden Greene (New Site HS)
Jayden Greene delivered a dominant performance on the mound in a win over Alcorn Central, tossing five innings while allowing just two hits with no earned runs. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk, showing strong command and swing-and-miss ability.

+ Grayson Doss (Center Hill HS)
Grayson Doss delivered a quality outing for Center Hill, working five innings against West Point while allowing just three hits and one earned run. He struck out five in the performance, helping anchor the pitching staff.

+ Cooper McCoy (Sumrall HS)
Cooper McCoy was dominant on the mound against Fort Payne (AL), tossing five no-hit innings without allowing a run. He struck out four while issuing three walks in an impressive outing.

+ Tucker Elliott (Myrtle HS)
Freshman left-hander Tucker Elliott turned in a standout performance on the mound against Senatobia, throwing a complete seven innings while allowing four hits and one earned run. He struck out 12 and walked just two in the outing. Elliott also contributed at the plate over three games, going 3-for-5 with four walks.
