Texas Pitcher & Hitter of the Week (Week 2)

Prep Baseball Texas Staff

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Hitter & Pitcher of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state

Thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

Let's take a look at the Hitter and Pitcher of the Week for Week 2 (Feb 23-Feb 28).

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Zachary Drew SS / RHP / Liberty Christian, TX / 2026

Drew put together a monster week at the plate, going 9-for-13 with 3 home runs, 2 doubles, a triple, and an eye-popping 21 RBI.

The Central Arkansas commit showed the ability to drive the baseball and consistently deliver in run-producing situations. Drew’s combination of barrel control and run production earned him Hitter of the Week honors for week 2. A huge offensive performance from the talented infielder.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Cooper Harris RHP / Flower Mound, TX / 2026

University of Texas commit Cooper Harris was overpowering in a six-inning no-hit performance, striking out 17 of the 19 hitters he faced. The only baserunner came on a dropped third strike, and just two balls were put in play all game (a ground ball to 2B and a ground ball to SS).

Harris filled up the zone with a 90–94 mph fastball, consistently getting ahead and finishing hitters. His sharp, firm slider (83–85 mph, 2850 rpm) generated swing-and-miss throughout the outing, and he mixed in a tight curveball (75–76 mph, 2500 rpm) to change eye levels and keep hitters off balance. A dominant, complete effort from one of the top arms in the state.
